The CX 495 offers the detail, noise isolation and comfort of a large set of studio-grade headphones-- at a fraction of the size and price. Combining an aggressive noise isolation earplug with a high-fidelity in-ear speaker, the CX 495 reduces ambient din to a whisper...then the transducer goes to work. Utilizing a specially tuned acoustic system, sound is channeled into the ear canal with a precision that reveals the subtle nuances of your music collection. When teamed with a proper ear adapter, this combination of noise isolation and ear speaker will provide a snug fit, tightly controlled bass and minimal sound leakage.

Built-tough, the CX 495 carries a 2 year global warranty. The dynamic transducer system is rugged and able to survive the impact of every day abuse while on-the-move. Three sizes of ear adapters are included (medium is pre-installed) and a cable clip manages any excess cable by mounting it to the wearer's clothing, thus minimizing handling noise.

  • newegg Noise-isolating ear-canal-phones The CX 495 features an aggressive noise-isolating design (earplug plus an in-ear speaker) that keeps out background noise so you can listen to your music—not the guy next to you.

2 out of 5 eggstin-ny (not tiny, tinny)

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Hurts my eardrums. Tin sounding.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality

Pros: Amazing sound quality and construction quality. The highs are clear and crisp and the lows are nice and powerful. These deliever same sound quality as my DJ style headphones in an earbud style.

Cons: The only con is that I lost them so I am out of a great pair of earbuds.

Other Thoughts: great headphones and great for the price when you can find them on sale.

2 out of 5 eggscable tangles are the worst

Pros: $30 generic headphones with a case. Multiple sizes. Does not leak sound like apple earphones

Cons: SUPER STICKY CABLES THAT TANGLE EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU USE THEM. They tangle in the case, your pocket, in your bag, evem you have them straightened out when you're using it they aren't straight, they tangle to itself. Absolutely annoying and makes u look like you're using $1 headphones

Other Thoughts: I've owned Sennheiser HD555, Shure SRH-840 headphones, Shure E2C earphones among other audiophile earphones. The sound quality on these are comparable to other $30 headphones. I paid $30 and would not buy these again. The cables sticking to each other and tangling is the ABSOLUTE WORST. imagine your cables are coated in super sticky rubber and u trying to untangle them. The sound quality is mediocre at best

3 out of 5 eggsOkay on sale, otherwise No

Pros: At the sale price - newegg rocks! - these are a good deal. On my Samsung Focus they sound pretty much like the headphones that came with the phone, not much better, maybe a bit. The mids suffer the usual muddiness / hollowness and the bass is overemphasized. Still, all in all they sound okay for "cheap" headphones.

Unless newegg runs the sale again I'd look elsewhere; no way these are worth a hundred bucks. The thirty I paid is about right, they're well worth that.

Make sure you have a good fit - they give you a few sizes to work with. Just don't expect miracles. A perfect fit will allow you to hear the bass better but that's not necessarily a great thing on these headphones. It's a little on the booming side, which crosses over into the mids, making them muddy and hollow-sounding. Overall the sound is not bad, but you know you're listening to cheap headphones.

Cons: One big negative is the plug. If I'm moving at all the plug slips out of my phone. Constantly. Walking? Forget about walking while listening to music unless you don't mind holding your phone (or mp3 player, whatever). Maybe it's just my phone but I think someone else mentioned this too.

Other than that there are no cons I can think of.

Other Thoughts: These headphones are lightweight and comfortable. You get "good enough" sound, perfect for subway rides or bus trips, etc. Hopefully the plug will stay put for you and you won't have the same trouble I do...making them a bit of a PITA when I'm walking. But as long as you pay what I paid they're a good deal. Don't spend a hundred on these or you'll be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad...Not for bass lover

Pros: First of all Im no sound guru, I am reviewing it as a average music lover. Very clear sound quality almost as good as my previous ear-phone. (AKG K324P) I'm able to hear much more than some high bass headphone, yet it perform fairly well on low bass too. I got this when it is on special promo, cant beat the price for such quality earphone. Sound proofing is exceptionally good.

Cons: It never hurt to have more bass...design is kind of flimsy. Of cause there are better earphone out there but also with a bigger price tag.

Other Thoughts: The lack of bass issue might be caused by the device that pushing it. (current is a phone). Will try on some other device like mp3 player to further test on the bass capability.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound quality, stay in your ears without becoming uncomfortable or hurting

Cons: Cord sound can be distracting, but I run the cord under my shirt so it's a non-issue. If you go running with ear buds on a windy day without securing the cord to yourself, what do you really expect?

Other Thoughts: These are the exact same headphones as the CX-300 (I believe that's the model), except these have a Y shaped cord instead of a J. I had the CX-300s for a while before they were stolen at the gym, and then I replaced them with these. I'm almost happy those were stolen because the J shaped cord is the most annoying thing in the world. That was my only complaint about them, and these headphones don't suffer from it.

4 out of 5 eggsSatisfied

Pros: THE CORD IS SYMMETRICAL
(I had a very difficult time finding that information, I ended up calling Sennheiser)

I use these for both recreational listening and my backup pair of in ear monitors. I have a pair of Sennheiser IE80 professional headphones, and they are absolutely wonderful. I am relatively impressed with the dynamic of these headphones, they deliver a nice sound for the price. On stage I have a little trouble with them if I am standing close to the drum cage or the bass amp, but other than that they are great little buds. They also do very well covering up the sound and pressure during a flight.

Cons: -Speakers crack at higher volumes, seem like they would be easy to blow.
-Bass is a little lacking at times, but treble isn't overbearing... so its not so bad.
-Retail price is a little high, try to get it on a promo.

Other Thoughts: Personal Rating
(compared to other similar headphones, NOT professional)

Hardware: 8/10
Volume: 7/10
Clarity: 7/10
Price: 5/10

Total: 27/40

Hope it helped.

5 out of 5 eggsfunny yet impressing

Pros: Good bass. Great quality. After wearing these for a few months and loving the sound I lost them and realized I accidently washed them with a load of laundry. I feared the worst. I stuck them in and worked like a charm after all the abuse. VERY PLEASED!

Cons: didnt have "waterproof" tag with it lol

4 out of 5 eggsVery Good for the special price

Pros: Sennheiser Sound Signature. Decent Bass. Low Impedence --> good on iPhone

Cons: Not worth of MSRP.
Lack iPhone control & mic

Other Thoughts: Wish Sennheiser has similar ear-canal with mics and support iPhone under $35.00
