Now that computer presentations are commonplace, it makes sense to build multifunction devices to cut down on the number of things you have to juggle. This is just such a device.

An RF wireless device, with the charger/receiver hooked to your computer via USB port, you can control your presentations up to a maximum of thirty feet away. Thumb controls also allow you to use it as a full-featured mouse, giving you greater versatility than a simple remote. And to complete the resemblance to Captain Kirk's concealable weapon, the well-named Phaser is also a laser pointer.

Presentation remote, mouse, laser pointer, and an inside joke for the technophiles, what more could you ask for? Check this device out and see if it doesn't meet your presentation needs. I think you'll be glad that you did.

  • newegg Advanced RF Wireless Technology Utilizing advanced 27MHz RF wireless technology, the Phaser 3-in-1 presentation/mouse frees you up from wires without comprising performance – feel free to walk around the room during your presentation without being bound to the computer.
  • newegg Omni-directional Cursor Control The Phaser 3-in-1 presentation/mouse features an omni-directional trackball for easy cursor control with your thumb.
  • newegg Laser Pointer Easily point out essential information of your presentation using the Phaser 3-in-1 presentation/mouse's built-in laser pointer!
  • newegg 2-in-1 Receiver The RF receiver doubles as a charging cradle that continuously charges your mouse to keep it ready for action.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly What I Was Looking For

Pros: The Product can function as a wireless mouse, then with the flip of a switch the cursor ball turns from a scroller to a mouse. It can function as a simple forward and back for slide shows, but for teachers like me that use Prezi and youtube and word and powerpoint and other webpages in one lesson, I needed more than next slide and previous slide. This device lets you hold it like a presenter tool but use it like a mouse, complete with a laser pointer and ITS RECHARGEABLE! The function button was an added surprise that lets me pull up all active programs and switch quickly and easily.

It could use a few tweaks (see cons) but for under $30 you cant ask for more.

Cons: No right click in presenter mode. Since the ball becomes the cursor in presenter mode there is no quick scroll. The charging tool on the usb dock doesn't always line up, so when you put it on the charger make sure the charge light is on. I haven't had the product too long so I cannot speak to its durability. And it is slightly big for a presenter tool, but overall it was exactly what I wanted it to be.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Trainer

Pros: All-in-one mouse, presenter and laser pointer.
Holds up well.
reasonably priced.

Cons: Lack of meaningful instructions.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this presenter/mouse/laser pointer for our trainer 4 or 5 years ago and it still works great! It would be nice if there were some info on the reset buttons. Instead, you need to "experiment" with them to get the device to work properly - but it's well worth the time. Our trainer absolutely loves it!

Pros: NONE

-> CRASHES (blue screen) with Windows Vista Basic
-> No Instructions/documentation
-> Software included is not for the product sold, and does not work with the hardware at all.
->Poor Wireless Connection - skips

Other Thoughts: Confirmed by Iogear Customer service: There is NO 'RIGHT CLICK' function when used as trackball. Worthless to be wireless and have to go to the keyboard every time you need a basic 'right click'

ALSO: CAUSES BLUE SCREEN TOTAL SYSTEM CRASH with Windows Visa Basic after 5-10 minutes of use.

4 out of 5 eggsNice air mouse

Pros: 1) Uses standard AA rechargeable batteries!! That was very important for me as it can save a lot of money in the long run as well as increase the usage time between charges
2) Good ergonomics. Size is perfect for the hand.
3) Accurate movement
4) Works perfect at 10', haven't tried longer distances
5) Customizable buttons

Cons: 1) Going from one mode to another requires flip of small dip switch
(Other air mice have a button that easily switches it)
2) On my desktop, XP SP3, I have to wiggle the mouse during reboot otherwise it won't initialize and then will require that I unplug and replug it. Another user reported similar issue. IOGear support offered a replacement but I found the workaround above.
3) Once in a while it will miss a click, it seems as if it goes to sleep if you leave it still for a minute.
4) No software to setup gestures

Other Thoughts: I owned two air mice before this one, and before purchasing this one I tried, and returned, two other brands of air mice. I decided to keep this one. The AA rechargeable batteries were a big factor in my decision. Even with its cons it's better than other more expensive ones in my opinion.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great idea. Unit looks good and when working does work as a mouse/presentor should. However...

Cons: This is the second unit for me. Returned first unit because it was NOT detected during computer start up unless the USB cord was disconnected/reconnected. Tried on numerous PC's & same results.
Second unit seemed to work fine for about three weeks then started the same thing.
Channel reset on mouse is ineffective to reconnect.
Not good when used in an Executive Conference room and it doesn't work for the company president!!!

Other Thoughts: Channel reset button is shown on the Base unit in the documentation but both items I got did not have a reset button. Only on the mouse and I said before it did not reconnect the mouse when it was pushed.

1 out of 5 eggsmouse yes, trackball no

Pros: Works as a table top mouse if synced (see below).
Works as a laser pointer.

Cons: Unusable as a presentation mouse because the trackball requires significant thumb pressure to make the movement register as cursor movement on screen. This defeats the purpose of the trackball also being a button, because it gets pressed down any time you use it to move the cursor (if you dont press down on the trackball, the cursor doesnt move the the trackball just spins). Pressing down with your thumb all the time is very uncomfortable.
The unit NEVER would sync after a reboot, it always had to be unplugged and plugged back in again.
The lights on the base station never lit up as the manual said they should.
Mouse unit does not seem to connect firmly when placed in cradle. Bumping the table causes the charge LED to flicker and then randomly stay on or off.
Bundled mouse software uses Windows 95 format menus and did not have many useful options to improve performance.
I am running Windows XP SP3.

Other Thoughts: Overall design is good. Unit is very light weight for how big it is, which makes it feel cheap. But the erratic performance really kills its usefulness. If this unit had worked properly I would have given it 4 eggs.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Idea for a mouse & good price

Cons: I just got this yesterday & I am already having trouble, it will not convert to mouse mode & the only things that work is the laser pointer & the trackball(only for scrolling even when not in mouse mode) I read many tutorials & got all the new drivers for this & nothing worked so I will be returning it for a refund. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless logitech takes it over lol, it feels flimsy & weak so to say if it were dropped a 6 inch length it seems as though it would shatter.

Other Thoughts: It was a great idea & had very high hopes but they were shot down as fast as the packaging came off.

4 out of 5 eggs2nd Times Charm

Pros: Exchanged my old unit for a new one and it works great. Easily changes modes, charging bay is nice. Feels a little bulky when used in 'mouse mode' but I only use it as a distance mouse in 'presenter mode' so it doesn't bother me much.

Cons: Range doesn't seem to be rated properly. I get 20' max but that may be due to interference.

Other Thoughts: First unit was defective (see previous post). Second unit works flawlessly, except for the range.
