1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality control

Pros: n/a

Cons: First pair was defective so I RMAed them, newegg did their part wonderfully, only problem was that the headphones I got were also defective. Same sound problems as before, except this time if I press and hold the little button above the volume control that seems to fix the issue...of course I am not going to keep pressing that button just so I can use these headphones.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Comfortable, Great Sound, Good Looking - Got as a promo item for $30.00. Best headphones for the money if you only had to pay the $30 . I have to admit these are super super comfortable and the added ability of the phone mic and volume control make them very versatile.

Cons: The headband is somewhat noisy when it is stretched

1 out of 5 eggsReal rubbish

Pros: none

Cons: 1. very very unconfortable. Once I wear it, I get dizzy. but after 1 month, finially I can wear it for 30 mins.
2. quality of sound is not good. no bass. sound is not clear enough.
I really doubt the original price is 99$ and the philips produce this kind of rubbish. It very disappointed me. I guess I will never buy the philips product.

4 out of 5 eggsAddendum

Pros: See previous post.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: This is in response to a review I had recently posted. After trying the headphones in multiple other devices and tweaking my sound card the high pitched ringing noises continued. I had plugged and unplugged the cable multiple times thinking that the connection may be loose but it wasn't.

The high pitched ringing/buzzing noise stopped once I replaced the cable that these headphones came with. The headphones now work perfectly :) I am guessing that the cable is defective as it is generating annoying feedback.

4 out of 5 eggsAbove average when it is on sale

Pros: - Very comfortable, this is probably why the MSRP is ~$100. Comfort is the first thing you will notice.

- Good noise cancelling for this (on sale) price point, about 50% dampening of atmospheric noise.

- No adjusting is necessary for a perfect fit on any size of head

- Very light but it also feels it can handle moderate abuse

- Decent lower tone capabilities (base) but clearly higher frequencies dominate.

Cons: - Sound quality is on par with a ~$40 headphone. This isn't necessarily a bad thing if you picked this up on sale.

- Had to install my sound card's apps so I could turn down the 17+ KHz frequencies, otherwise some compressed (EG: streaming) videos with poor sound will frequently hit this range and it is very loud, annoying and sometimes even painful. I realize the PC market is not the targeted audience for these headphones but chances are you will also do streaming on your smart phone. Strong emphasis on high frequencies.

- If I had paid the MSRP I would return these. Unless you desperately need headphones w/mic that has reasonable noise cancelling for your phone, I would not recommend these for ~$100. The MSRP is the con.

Other Thoughts: If you hear an echo from the headphones, remove a connecting joint that can be found near the device that you have the cord plugged into. This is up to you to discover, there isn't any documentation that comes with it.

<rant>
I was planning to use these as my primary headphones for my computer to replace my ageing ones but instead I have decided to use these at work. The noise cancelling is very handy even if they aren't playing anything and the sound quality is good enough for a work station. Currently I am using Zalman 5.1 headphones, they are roughly $45. They aren't great for pure sound quality but they can play some nice beats and are durable, although not as comfy nor dampening as the Philips. Likewise the Zalman do not emphasize the 17KHz+ spectrum.

Loses an egg for emphasizing higher and sometimes painful sound frequencies and for having a ridiculous MSRP. The on-sale price should be the regular price; judging by how many times these go on sale I'd say at least a few others would agree with me.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent for the sale price

Pros: Inexpensive (on sale)
Decent sound

Cons: Comfort around the ears fade after extended use.

Other Thoughts: Glad I did not pay full price for these and was able to catch a sale, but they are decent for what I paid.

4 out of 5 eggsperfectly fine, at the right price

Pros: Decent sound quality for the price (1/3 the MSRP). Quite comfortable (which, to me, is hugely important.) Designed to take a beating.

Cons: Sound quality could be much better, especially if you're paying anything close to full MSRP. Otherwise, the sounds quality is just fine for the price.

Other Thoughts: My last pair of headphones were taken out by wily cats and these certainly seem like they'll take far more abuse.
