Pros: Everybody else has pretty much said it all.

Cons: Regarding the clamping force (or lack of it). I solved this issue by using a Sole (drop the "e", the editor rejected the correct name as inappropriate) Republics Tracks headphone replacement headband (The regular Tracks headband, not the wireless one). It's basically just a curved piece of plastic with a small foam pad taped on the inside. Just remove the taped on padding and it fits right over the SHP9500's headband. This adds just the right amount of clamping force for me and also increases the bass response just a bit due to the ear pads tighter fit. To make it semi-permanent you can use double-sided tape.

Pros: I love the open ear style of this headphone. The sound is more 'full' and 'rich' and your ears can breathe while you listen to your music. I love to listen to all genres of music, though this particular set won't appeal to 'bass heads' ... There is bass there, but this is all around 'flat' and not EQ'd to rattle your head. Perfect for any other style of music though! You can completely hear the separation in musical instruments and vocals, even hear people taking a breath or seats shifting in the orchestra...it's amazing just

Cons: Not heavy in bass for people who want their heads to vibrate. The bass is there, but it's level with the rest of the sound spectrum. No real cons for me though, except that they sound much less "awesome" when they are plugged into my laptop than when they are in my expensive sound card on my rig

Other Thoughts: If you have a chance, listen to the 'LOST soundtrack' there are many different tracks with pianos and strings by a live orchestra. (my favorite track is the LOST - Life & Death Theme (All Variations) It's awesome! If you aren"t blown away from these headphones, your DSP or soundcard must be awful! I'm running these on a ASUS Xonar Essence STX sound card and my ears are in Heaven! They also sound fantastic on valve tube headphone amps

Other Thoughts: These are on par with my current favorites, the very retro, very classic, very hard-to-power AKG K240 Sextett monitors with Brainwav HM5 earpads. Those headphones were discovered a thrift store and I wouldn't count on coming across another pair in good shape ever again. These Philips offer a very similar sound signature, which is wide-open, balanced, and with punchy but not overemphasized bass. Unlike the retro AKGs, the Philips can easily be driven to acceptable volume by an iPod (however, with a Fiio E6 or desktop amp, they perform even better). I use them primarily for gaming because the soundstage and audio positioning really up the immersion level, especially open-world games like Metal Gear Solid V. When you crank these, outside sounds will fade away, but the whole room will hear what you are listening to because these bad boys have wide-open backs covered by a metal grill with relatively large holes and garish white side markings...you'll never put these on backwards. Everything swivels and slides to fit various head sizes and for me, the cups surround my ears completely. These are very comfortable, but they don't clamp hard, so you won't be able to move around much with them on. These are certainly sit-down headphones. Most importantly, they don't hurt to wear with glasses, so I can keep playing or watching without having to give my skull a break, which was a serious problem with my previous tv/game headset, the Samson SR850. I really liked the sound of those as well, but they just aren't comfortable, even with the new "velour" pads Samson is using nowadays. Also excellent on the Philips is that the cord is removable and uses a standard 3.5mm audio jack, so no exotic cords to buy if you need a replacement. The stock cord is really long, so if you are going to use these close to your source, a shorter cable is probably in order. I love them already and if they bite it in the next few years, I will try to replace them with the exact same set. These have unseated my previous all-purpose phones, the closed-back Sony MDR-7506. I'll hang on to those when I need to listen privately without bugging the hell out of everyone around me. Sorry, these Philips aren't going to cut it for office/cube use.

Cons: -Not for bass-heads but bass is acceptable
-Open back mean these are not for private listening

Other Thoughts: -These are a bargain reference headphone for me; recommended.

Pros: - Good overall specifications.
- Decent construction and build quality. Robust plastic with some aluminium reinforcing the overhead band.
- Does not require high-end dac/amp to drive respectfully (32 ohms), but will scale reasonably well with one.
- Removable 3.5 mm AUX cable.
- Compatible with headset mics like the V-Moda Boom Pro.

- The sound is well-balanced. For me its just on the brighter side of neutral. Presentation is natural, not too cold, and only subtly analytical. You can listen to these all day without getting "tired" from the sound as you would with other headphones. The sound stage deals out good lows and delivers mids/highs crisply without lingering.
- For more discerning audiophiles, you might benefit from some fine tuning, mainly where the frequency response transitions between the upper mids and lower highs. Can not fault these headphones for that. They're optimized out of the box for all kinds of music, especially where distinctive listening is prized and overdone bass is a no-no.
- Would suggest pairing with a warmer-side-of-neutral amp or eq process for some types of music.

Cons: - Size adjustments involve very lose notches that tend to slip unless under load (i.e. actually on your head its fine).
- Clamping force is a bit light --> worried it will be too loose in the long run, after fatigue and break in effects.
- Earpads can not be changed out except via some modding.

Other Thoughts: The SHP9500 are "sleeper" headphones. Most will not stumble upon these unless lucky, well-informed, or in pursuit of extreme value. Stellar comfort, reliability, and of course audio quality for the price. When on sale (~$99 CAD), they completely shatter the price/performance ratio of the current (2015-2016) era headphones market. At this lower price-point, they become rank 1. When not on sale, they still defeat most, if not all, products at the higher, entry-level audiophile price-point of ~$250 CAD. My first 5 star review ever on the internet after years of reviews.

Pros: -These are comfortably light. They are not heavy on the head or ears. Plenty of cusion on the head around the head and ears. Super extra long detachable cable. Great and clear sound.

Cons: - the only con I have is the material on ear pads can feel scratchy to the skin and that is all.

Other Thoughts: I would whole heartedly recommend this set ti any one thaat likes headphone of this caliber.

Pros: -These headphones are incredibly comfortable. I have glasses, so most headphones put too much pressure on me, but these are like a cloud on my ears. I can wear them all day (and have) without discomfort.
-I love the mesh. It doesn't make my ears sweat like most over ear headphones. They breathe very well.
-They sound great to me. I'm not an audio freak, but these are the best sounding headphones I've used. They work perfectly for casually listening to music.

Cons: -The included cord is super long, but it can replace that with any aux cord.

Pros: *I didn't understand why some people described music as beautiful until i put these on

These headphones will be incredibly loud for certain content you view, you really need to be aware and try to get the best quality as possible with these since they can be incredibly sensitive with certain content, especially high quality streaming. ADJUSTMENTS might be necessary
*these headphones are big, be prepared to hold on to them if you are moving at speed
*I don't work in an office but I can see how these could anger your office mate since they are open ear. these things are as loud as desktop speakers
*I really hope these things are durable for real life conditions like hiking or skating for i'm not so sure

Cons: I have small ears and they touch the sound device which is a hard surface, there is no padding at on between the device and the ear cup but the mesh which is normal sometimes but they are too close for my comfort.. i quickly realized why these ear pads aren't detachable. Speaking of the ear pads they are a little itchy especially if you have facial hair. The foam for the headband isn't doing the job well either if i have these on for 30 minutes my hair gets completely flat to the point where it actually hurts (my hair isn't long either, headphone hair? more like helmet head) i have had many headphones and this headband is the worst I've seen and my biggest complaint. I'd rather rip it off and install something else on it, and i just might.

all these things have me constantly fidgeting the headphones around to try to get comfy.

Only took a week until i started hearing cracks and pops from minor movements coming from the headband feels like it was really poorly installed.

Sound leaks a lot.. more than any open backs that i have seen

I guess i just expected these to be way more comfy due to the internet hype but they're not.

They are a good pair, but there are others i would recommend at the current price range since they're going up.

At 60-80 BUY THEM
at 80-120 maybe depends what you're looking for (do comparisons)
at 120+ i would recommend a skip.
