5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse

Pros: These Evoluent mice are excellent for preventing carpal tunnel issues. I bought a left handed Evoluent after I started having pain in my right forearm. It took about a week to get used to mousing with my left hand, but after than it's been great. The pain in my right hand/arm is gone. Now I have both the left- and right-handed mice on my desk and I alternated between them, to give each arm a rest. I have now bought these mice for all my direct reports and have them installed on all my computers at work and at home. These mice are one of the best ingredients in making an ergonomic computer workstation.

Cons: None that I can think of.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse, with a couple flaws

Pros: >Vertical grip very ergonomic, reduces strain due to extended mouse use
>Custom button mapping can be tied to specific programs
>Very light, glides effortlessly
>On the fly sensitivity adjustment is useful
>2 year warranty useful, especially since the cons will show up after about a year.

Cons: >Expensive
>Rubberized finish deteriorates and comes off, particularly if your hands sweat while using it.
>No strain relief on the cord, so it will break if you're not careful to avoid it bending at extreme angles.
>Buttons may wear out and the clicks won't register as cleanly as they should.
>Smooth plastic finish of the buttons seems to attract grime

Other Thoughts: I've purchased four of these mice just over a year ago for my brother and I to use at work and home. We love them and don't like using other types of mice, but we have noticed a couple of flaws to them:

1) The rubberized finish on the palm grip section will wear off where your hand contacts it, particularly if your hands sweat while using it. This ends up making it look ugly when it starts to look patchy, and feels uncomfortable under your hand. I recommend keeping your hands dry when using this mouse, and wiping it with a damp cloth after use. Evoluent does not replace the mice under warranty for this issue. They claim it is due to "external factors," which is a cop-out since it's actually a by-product of their intended usage by human hands.

2) The wire in the cable exiting the front of the mouse ended up breaking on one of our mice. A better design would be for Evoluent to add a strain relief to the cable. Make sure you don't let the cable bend at extreme angles while you use it. This issue they WILL address with a warranty replacement.

Despite the cons, I still haven't found better vertical mice on the market. I hesitate to buy more of these until they address the weaknesses in the next version of this mouse.

4 out of 5 eggsStill great, yet wondering

Pros: Great Software incl/x64 software
Good Mouse

Cons: Lousy Wire
Great mousepads take up quite a bit of space

Other Thoughts: I am reviewing this mouse again after owning it for some time. The X TRAC PADS RIPPER mouse pad I bought on Newegg gave me a lot better performance. The mouse still feels like I'm going to break it, though most electronics these days do. With a 3DConnexion device to the right, it is quite nice, though I imagine a Contour ShuttleXPress to the right of this mouse would feel just as good or better. My issue, that you might also contemplate... is space. I'm probably taking near 2 feet with this giant mouse pad(that really makes this mouse shine) and a 3Dconnexion device spaced to right. I can only wonder the space of the keyboard spaced to the right of the mouse pad. I'm seriously leaning towards an industrial trackpad over this mouse(CH DT225 or CST LaserTrac) because the space is set.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best purchases ever

Pros: I've been using the lefty version of the Evoluent mouse for many years now, and it is probably the best ergonomic purchase I have ever made! Highly recommended for anyone who feels even the slightest bit of discomfort using a traditional mouse.

Cons: After about a year of use on my 3M 'precision mousing surface' mouse pad, the Teflon pads on the bottom of the mouse have been abraded away. Occasionally, the mouse catches on the surface of the mouse pad as a result. I've been meaning to contact Evoluent to see if they sell replacement pads.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh Price & High Quality

Pros: Hard to find a good left-handed mouse - glad they made this version 4, it's a mild upgrade from version 2. Includes built-in indicator lights that have even helped troubleshoot pc a few times by showing whether or not it was getting power during boot problems.
Programmable buttons if you install the software.

Cons: In the spot where the thumb rests, the silver film is already worn away (after 7 months). Doesn't affect funtionality at all.

Other Thoughts: Again - a good left-handed mouse (especially a sculpted one), is hard to find. It's not cheap, but my version 2 (I use at the office) is 5 years old now and, while showing some wear in the thumb area, is still going strong). The ergonomic theory of a vertical hand position rather than horizontal seems sound.
I plan to try Kinect eventually to see if it's a viable alternative input method - it sounds intersesting.

5 out of 5 eggsMouse is epic...

Pros: Epic mouse... has every control you want without the fluff of a million buttons. Windows 7 detects and identifies it. Blender and Wings 3D smile at it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The buttons are remapped. At the bottom, the left click sits. Haven't used the mouse much as I'm studying 3d more than making it right now. Cord is scary thin for a 90 dollar mouse.

What else is there to say? I got this mouse because I want to do my own 3d modeling animations. Good time is a year plus of work per animation... that's a lot of time using a mouse. Hence... I went epic.
