3 out of 5 eggsGood design but ghost software buggy!

Pros: Like the way it feels & it's laser is tops! Plenty of button & macro assignments & customizing available. DPI settings are changeable on the fly (4 settings) adjustable from 400 to 6000dpi. There is 4-way scrolling using center tilt-wheel.

Cons: Gigabyte Ghost software for this M8000X is buggy. When you setup (even the most basic) button assignments, the mouse tracking will sometimes freeze or cursor drift with little control. NOTE: there is very little detailed no tutorials or video for using M8000X ghost mouse software...very little.

Other Thoughts: If you unplug & re-plug in the USB connection then mouse control returns (for awhile anyway). Going to check into a RMA with newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsI loooove it!

Pros: Ho yes I love this mouse. I love it so much that I'm writing a sound about it that'll be released on Youtube in a short while.

I've own quite a number of gaming mouse; Gigabyte Aivia Krypton, Logitech G5 & G3, Coolermaster Sentinel Advance II, Razer Death Adder.

The Gigabyte GM-M8000X is the best I've ever used so far. Perfect button pressure operation, perfect glide on cloth game pads, perfect sensitivity and second best hand grip amongst previously named product. I bought a second one to be sure to have another one in case it get's discontinued.

Purchased in May 2013, it has hundreds of hours of happy gaming and video editing on the meter and still looks like new.

Cons: Expensive

Other Thoughts: It's expensive, but will reward you for every penny spent.

4 out of 5 eggsAn Inverted Glove

Pros: Love the weights. Like, all of them. Feels like I'm more involved in the moving of the mouse than just pawing at it.

Cons: Don't like the pulsing lights. The blue light is .. ok, but red, blue, or purple may not be your fantasy - I'd prefer a dull white or none, but meh - the lighting help when locating on the fly when gaming at night/dark room.

Other Thoughts: Currently use it without a pad in a kitchen nook situation with a laptop, and it works just for me.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost too much!

Pros: Adjustable DPI - up to an astounding 6000dpi
Run this with my "FPS" settings as the highest and regular usage on low with random settings in between for gaming. its perfect!

Hand contour is awesome if you are a claw gripper like me.

Supplied software to adjust the lighting as well as the two buttons on the side is really simple to understand and use.

Cons: 6000dpi is a con if you are not used to it.

Other Thoughts: Great gaming mouse and will definitely recommend (already have) to multiple gaming friends.

Perfectly paired with my Corsair K70 (red)

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money.

Pros: Very very comfortable. I have never owned a mouse that has felt this perfect in my hand. DPI switch is a great feature as is the use of the Ghost software to manage your multiple profiles for different games. Price isn't bad in my opinion either. Fast reaction time and also made of nice material. The added weights are nice bonus as well.

Cons: This is nitpicking but at times my DPI settings seem to shift around on their own. It doesn't change the actual mouse DPI though. So it will say its on High, when its really on medium. A weird bug it looks like. A reset of the profile and a calibration test usually fixes that for a long while. Other than that. No other complaints.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse!

Pros: Very nice well constructed gaming mouse. Braided 6 ft. cable with a quality gold plated usb connector. Customizable weights are a plus with any gaming mouse. This comes with 3 - 6 gram weights and 1 - 20 gram weight. Making a lot of different configurations possible to fit anyone's needs. Left and right buttons seem to click more quietly than other mice. I like that, makes it a little less annoying when there is nothing else going on in the house and all I can hear is myself clicking away. That's what my mechanical KB is for :). Ghost symbol pulsates just like all other Gigabyte products. Software is nice and allows customization of macros, polling rates, sensitivity, etc. Also custom colors for profiles. Excellent positioning of the forward and back buttons. They are really easy to hit just by sliding your thumb up into them.
DPI switch is out of the way, as to not be easily hit while gaming. I really like the positioning of this, other mice have them right in the way. Causing me to accidentally hit it in the middle of a battle or what have you. Four levels of DPI are a nice touch too. Big upgrade from the Gigabyte M6980X that I was using.

Cons: None so far. I guess it's not the Krypton, but I'm not spending that much more just for 1 feature that this one is lacking.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to replace the Gigabyte M6980X I was using because it was having problems tracking sometimes. Looked into what else Gigabyte has as to match it to my KB and MB. As you can see I like Gigabyte products. Anyways, it was between this, the Avia Krypton, or a Corsair M65. As I'm thinking about changing out my mechanical KB for a Corsair K70 or K90. Went with this anyway. Glad I did. It fits all the needs I can think of. Fully programmable. Just like all of the other Gigabyte accessories I own.
I'm on my way to owning almost the entire Gigabyte product line. I now own the Avia Osmium, Avia K8100 V2, M6980X, and this M8000X. Just need the Krypton and all of the cheap accessories and I'll complete the ultimate Gigabyte fan collection. Not that I'm planning on doing that.

5 out of 5 eggsA great mouse with some notes

Pros: - The DPI rocker is just makes sense. Its placement and use feel so natural. It's almost as if you were born with the instinct to use it. That's how simple and intuitive it is. And that's all you can ask for in a mouse - that it feels natural and thoughtless to use.
- The finish on the top and sides of the mouse are a smooth rubber that has just enough tactile friction - not too slippery, not to grippy - and is textured on the sides. Unlike glossy plastic or grippy rubber, this surface lets your hand breathe, which is important if you use the computer a lot and for extended gaming sessions.
- DPI LED indicator makes it easy to tell what setting you're on
- GHOST logo can be set to different colors for different profiles. You can even set it to "off" if you wish.
- Onboard memory. Install the GHOST software, set your profiles, and uninstall the software. Your macros and lighting settings are saved and your computer doesn't have to hold onto the deadweight software.
- Braided cord. This allows the wire to slide more easily across whatever surface you use and makes the wire more resistant to forming a memory
- Weights. You get 3x6g weights and 1x20g weight. Configurations are as follows: 6g, 12g, 18g, 20g, 26g, 32g, 38g. The holes are set in a "dog's paw" pattern, with the large 20g weight hole underneath 3 "finger" holes for the 6g weights. This means you can customize what direction the weight of your mouse leans toward.

Cons: - You can't set custom DPI for each profile. Your sensitivity settings are shared across all profiles.
- DPI LED indicator is set to red, no matter what you set the GHOST logo color to

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great mouse. At full weights it feels substantial but not too heavy. At no weights it's slick and light but won't fly out of control. It feels very durable, and despite the 2 cons mentioned above, it's a very well designed mouse. The biggest seller is the DPI switch. I feel that Gigabyte is fairly underrated/unknown when it comes to gaming mice (compared to giants like Logitech, Razer, and Mad Catz). I gave this a shot and ended up liking it. Better than any other mouse I've ever owned.

If you're coming from generic optical/rollerball mice, this will be a HUGE upgrade. I can't at all begin to describe the difference you feel with a purposed gaming mouse. It's a great feeling. Makes gaming awesome and improves your overall PC-using experience.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse!

Pros: Comfortable, Many choices of DPI levels & can be adjusted by the mouse itself, somewhat easy to install (disk doesnt work, you can download the software via website), and works great!

Cons: Not a very user friendly UI.

Other Thoughts: This is a really awesome one. It's really customizable, comfortable, and complete with flashy lights! It hasn't messed up once. I wouldn't buy this mouse though, if you're picky about software. The UI in its GHOST software isn't very good, I got confused a lot, and just ended up changing DPI levels and being done. Macros are complicated too, but that goes without saying.

5 out of 5 eggsI've been looking for an upgrade...

Pros: ...but I keep coming back to this mouse. I'm very particular about my mice, as you'll soon see...

- The tilt wheel is the best I've ever used and is why I keep coming back
For those of you who hate scroll wheels that have really defined steps and are loud as hell, rejoice! The scroll wheel on the M8000x is quiet, while still being fairly defined. Clicking the scroll wheel results in a somewhat muted click sound, and it feels solid. It doesn't take a metric ton of force to click, like the G9X's wheel. The tilt left/right are clickier, and don't take much force to actuate. The sides of the scroll wheel aren't rounded, but have an angled shape, so flicking the scroll wheel either way is easy. It feels amazing, and amazingly right, like the other functions of the wheel. As a whole, the tilt scroll wheel gets an A+ from me.

- Side buttons are easy to hit
Lift your thumb and you'll hit the buttons. The left side of the mouse is concave, and the buttons follow that concavity. There's no ridge or odd angle to the buttons, so you don't have to pull your thumb off the mouse/away from its usual resting spot, find the button, and depress it. You can find the button and hit it in one motion.

- DPI button is easy to hit
A lot of mice don't get this right; most mice now have DPI switching on the fly, but it's usually a button or two in a weird place to "depress," them being buttons and all. On the M8000x, it's a two-way switch rocker type thing that's very easy to hit when you need to lower the DPI for sniping and such. Slide down past the scroll wheel and nudge the ridge of the DPI switch and DPI is lowered. IT JUST FEELS RIGHT.

- Weight
This is more of a personal preference thing; it feels light but not too light. Can be made heavier with the included weights.

- Looks slick
The Gigabyte logo on the M8000 looked a bit better than the Ghost logo in my opinion, but the darker black surface of the M8000x looks a lot better than the grey surface of the M8000.

- Rubberized texture
Makes me want to stroke the mouse

Cons: Some minor issues though...

- Occasionally starts skipping/stops tracking on cheap (mine anyway) cloth mousepads
Can be fixed by turning off Perfect tracking precision. I configured a profile with the side buttons toggling PTP on and off, so I just switch to it when it gets finicky and switch back.

- No automatic profile switching
I feel like I can't really blame Gigabyte for this, since it seems like only Logitech has really mastered this, but I need to point this out, if only so that in the future this becomes standard. It's a VERY useful feature. For those of you like me using X-Mouse Button Control to replicate this, you need to know that Gigabyte handles the tilt left and right buttons through its own drivers, and that they won't register as tilt L/R in XMBC. Switching backward and forward to tilt L/R makes them trigger buttons 4 and 5 in XMBC. Oddly enough, the Gigabyte SIM software for cheaper mice like the M7700/M7800 has an option to disable the Gigabyte tilt driver, making the tilt L/R buttons register correctly.

- Ghost logo always "breathes"
There is no way to have the light constantly on, but you can turn it completely off by setting the color to black. I might be nitpicking

- DPI lights always red, regardless of Ghost logo color
For those of you who like color coordinated light shows, anything other than red for the Ghost logo will ruin your day. Two straight lighting cons... I'm really nitpicking now

Other Thoughts: Other things:

- Might need some effort to figure out the Ghost software, but it's nothing to complain about

- Braided cord and gold USB plug

- comes with an extra set of teflon feet and a disc-shaped case for the weights (3 small weights and one big weight, the specific weights of the weights escape me currently)

- try XMBC
