The headset’s 40mm drivers have a frequency response of 20-20,000Hz to make sure you hear every sound the designer put in because you want to tell if that’s just a rock falling behind you or a gomer trying to sneak up and take you out. The noise-filtering microphone ensures crystal clear in-game communication. It cuts out unnecessary sounds and centers on a gamer's voice. The microphone has unidirectional pick-up and a 50-16,000Hz frequency response, so even the most squeal-prone gamers will be covered. Moreover, the microphone can rotate up to 270° and be put completely out of sight if you like.

The adjustable, heavily padded headband and extra-large ear cushions ensure superior comfort for hours of gaming. Volume is controlled via an in-line microphone that sits in the middle of the 3-meter-long headset cable. The cable terminates with two 3.5mm audio jacks for headphone and microphone. Lightweight, comfortable, and with outstanding sound quality, this unique headset will help you stay in command! Show your sound and money sense - this headset is a great buy!

3 out of 5 eggsFYI distorted sound

Pros: Great gaming headset, easy fix( that is if you know what you're doing )

Cons: my friend bought 2 pair, whilst gaming under normal mic usage( that is to say not loud )one started distorting the sound, so he opened the other box and used the other, it came with the same distortion, so he gave them both to me. I then opened them up( opened up the volume control port in the middle of the cord and cut a little on the rubber coat surrounding all 5 wires) to find that the nylon on the ground, left, and right were all frayed and touching. I fixed that by removing that whole section of wire( from Volume Control Port to actual headphone) and replacing it with networking wire.
On the other pair solder connected the 3 wires listed from above, must have been a factory mistake.
Both took about 30-mins to fix and needless to say my friend wont buy another set of these.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jmrelom,

That definitely isn't something that customers should be forced to do. In the future, please don't hesitate to contact us at http://razersupport.com/contact-us or by calling 1-888-697-2037.

Thank you for understanding.

3 out of 5 eggsDied after 3 years.

Pros: Very comfortable. Honestly the most comfortable headset I've ever owned. Great sounds (when it works), good bass, and that non-tangle cord is amazing! I bought it for about $90 dollars.

Cons: Stopped working after 3 years. The left earpiece just stopped working. Emits a buzzing sound when any kind of audio is played. I've kept this headset in great condition. Never dropped it or banged it. It just seems to have died after 3 years. After paying so much for this thing you would think it would last a little longer than that. Removed 2 eggs for this reason.

4 out of 5 eggsComfortable but a bit pricey

Pros: Pros: the braided fiber sheath wire is great for lack of tangles and getting accidentally caught on desk or arm of the chair, the wire length (my husband agreed to this one as well) , volume & mic control on cord, ear cups are cloth so they can be a bit warm but are a great comfort when wearing the headsets for any extended period of time, the mic itself has the ability to flex it so you can adjust closer to your face or farther if you choose (aside from the normal rotation).

Cons: Cons: the price was a little more than I would've liked to spend but they are holding up well thus far, and the resistance for the rotation on the mic has begun to get fairly loose as of lately. I move my mic up and down a lot to keep it outta my face but still close enough to be heard and after a year of "messing" with it it's lost some of its resistance so I can't put it where I normally would like to keep it but a little higher or lower and it will stay. Also I have some minor "white noise" type static when the mic is not muted on the control but I am almost 100% positive it's because I have been too lazy to adjust the settings on my computer to fix it. Nothing thats not tolerable. If youre not sitting silent for long you would never even notice it.

Other Thoughts: My husband and I both picked up gaming headsets at the same time of another brand and they pooped out roughly a year after purchase. His lasted almost a year and mine died just after a year. After that we picked up a set of these for each of us and have been using them now for 1yr 2mths and they are still working like brand new. I wear glasses and the ear pieces don't bother me the way most headsets do while I'm wearing them.

In short, little expensive but well worth the money in one wife's opinion :)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: I love these headphones. They deliver very rich sound and the mic is perfect.

Cons: The volume could be slightly higher. I turned the headphones and windows volume to 100% and wanted a bit more volume

Other Thoughts: For the price these are for sure worth it

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Excellent sound quality for the $$
- Very comfortable
- Open air

Open air design is great for indoor use - got them so that I can hear when someone at home is calling my name while gaming, but they ended up in my office where I can listen to music or be on webex meetings and still hear everything around me. They're comfortable enough that I can wear them all day.

The sound quality is really good for a $70 set of headphones, and EXCELLENT for anything open-air at that price. They don't sound over driven or muddled and the low-bass response is actually quite good. The sound quality is good enough that I don't particularly miss the TripleFi 10 which I wear during my commute, after switching over to these at work.

Cons: I've had these pretty much since they hit the market (several years ago).

Over time the wire inside the braid between one of the ear cups and the ear band worked its way out through the weave (not a functional issue).

The potentiometer in the volume adjust will occasionally cut out, but a little tap fixes it.

The head band isn't tight enough (I just bend the wire parts holding the ear cups inwards and they're quite tight now)

3 out of 5 eggsNice but wear fast

Pros: good sound for the price

Cons: Second pair. First the wire frayed and the mic died. Now this pair the sound only works if you have the jack half way in. Id buy the megaladon or something else.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat but Flawed

Pros: They are super comfortable. I bought my wife pair at a Best Buy and we tried them on in the parking lot. I immediately went back in and bought myself a pair. Sound quality was great for the price, and the build quality seemed fair as well.

Cons: There's an electrical issue with the build, as I had both headsets become inoperable within 24 hours of each other.

I was playing Star Craft II campaign (Note that I had already completed the campaign with this headset) and during one of the cut scenes on the Hyperion bridge my headset failed. I figured it was just bad luck so I took my wife's headset the next day after my trouble shooting failed. Her headset failed during the exact same cut scene. Specifically the speakers stopped producing sound.

I contacted tech support but they had no idea and at this point the warranty was void. My guess is that there is an hardware issue with the speakers where by a certain frequency causes them to blow out. This could have been caused by a faulty sound card (I've never had issues since with other headsets).

Other Thoughts: Even though I am out $160 bucks on these headsets I'd still buy them again as they were amazing while they lasted. Also I don't completely blame Razer for my headsets failing, but given the circumstances of both failures being identical then Razer is a common denominator.

5 out of 5 eggsLasted 2.5 Years

Pros: -Very comfortable ear cup and (???) arced-head rest (???) padding.

-Can hear things around you because air passes through the center of the ear cups.

-Clear loud/quiet sound.

-Braid protected cables.

-I take care of my things, and this lasted longer (2.5years) than expected (~2years).

Cons: -In-Line volume control.
Aside from this headset's mute switch being a bit iffy, this has to be the worst possible feature of any modern wired headset. The wires ALWAYS break around these controls and I've looked high and low for a WIRED mic with in-line vol. control on the EAR CUPS or not at all; sadly there are none or no decent ones that I have come across. My headset's wire broke from here.

-Under sensitive Microphone.
For my last and current build, including other people's computers that I've used this headset on, in order for anyone to hear me on Skype, Ventrilo or streaming/voice recording programs, I have to boost the (right click speaker, recording devices) mic volume in windows BOTH from +0dB to +30dB and from +0% to about 80-100% depending on the system. I may have gotten a bad mic, I'm not certain.

Due to the above issue, nearly everyone of the people I talk to with this mic tell me that my mic would ALWAYS pick up ANY surrounding sound and there would ALWAYS be a slight (not too annoying, though) hum/buzz because I have had to increase the sensitivity for anyone to hear me in the first place.

Other Thoughts: -Mic swings up, but doesn't mute when it is in the upright position, as I have seen friends' mics do in the past.

I'm sort of glad the sound stopped coming out of the left ear cup yesterday because I've been wanting a 5.1/7.1 mic and have decided on the Cooler Master Storm Sirius to take advantage of my 7.1 on board audio card more than just stereo sound.

Overall this headset wasn't completely terrible for 2.5years, it was a combination of good headphones but a bad mic for the $50 I initially paid for it.

If you are looking for a nice quality wired mic around the $50-75 price point that connects through 3.5mm jacks(was my goal/budget when I was looking), this might be worth consideration next to some other headsets.

If only some legit company could make nice sounding, good quality wired headphones with no Line-In control and sell for a reasonable price...
