1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy

Pros: Good sound when they work.
Separate Volume control is a nice feature to have.
Surround Sound is satisfactory.

Cons: Stopped working 3 months after using. The cords around the external sound driver must have worn inside the driver itself and now loses connection.

Other Thoughts: Terrible headset, what a waste of money. Don't buy this unless you want to throw away your money. I am an avid Razer fan but this headset is a disappointment.

1 out of 5 eggsIt was great while it lasted

Pros: While it worked:

Sound Quality was great.

Easy to use.

Easy to update it.

Mic works fine.

Cons: It's been less then a month since warranty ran out, and the thing is already crapping out!

If the cord is not at a certain angle, the headset isn't detected.

The sound has dimmed so much I have to put on full blast just to get it audible.

Latest update is from 2012.

Other Thoughts: I got this as a Christmas gift in 2012, it was bought for $150 and lasted a little more then a year. My previous headset was one I bought in 2006 and lasted me until 2012 and it was $30 back then! I expected to get at least half of that or more out of this, which I did not. And because my warranty is out, Razer support isn't being helpful.

I'll stick to Razer for mice, nothing else.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly...

Pros: Has great sound, crystal clear quality.

Cons: Take a bit to fine tune it, especially with voice activated software, but not technically challenging to do so.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Gaming Headset Ever Owned

Pros: -Sound
+Great for gaming
-Mic Quality
-Super Comfortable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Have used this headset for the past 2+ years and i have to say it is the best and most comfortable headset ive ever used. I don't understand the problems that other people are having ie: mic fuzzy, headband wearing out, lights out, controls going out as I have used this headset for an extreme amount of gaming over the years and have not had ONE problem with the headset. And it is not that i take extreme care of the headset (they have seen the wrath of gamer rage before), just overall the best headset I have ever worn.

2 out of 5 eggsIs Razer just hype and cool packaging?

Pros: - The sound was good, thumping bass and amazing for hearing footsteps in Call of Duty and Counter Strike.
- They are super comfortable and can be worn all day. (Sadly I've done this)
- They look really cool and come in really cool packaging.
- Has a nice braided cable.
- Has a cool adjustment console built into the cord for quick adjustments and changes.

Cons: - The Mic doesn't adjust too much and is made to bend which may affect the voice quality over time.
- The Mic has poor input and I often get complaints about my mic being scratchy, fuzzy, super annoying or other comments. Also, the background noise is horrible with these, even after making my sensitivity as low as possible and my mic volume super low.
- The head strap is cheap quality and after less than a week starts to lose its ability to not move after being adjusted. I used duct tape to secure my headphones from moving.
- EXPENSIVE! (would be okay if the quality wasn't so bad)

Other Thoughts: I gave this such a low rating because Razer products are supposed to be of the highest quality standards as they always tout. That's why you pay the big bucks for their gear. The Mic is garbage, I've had better mics come from $15.00 no name headsets. The sound was good, but not that much better than a cheap set. The only difference was directional hearing and a louder bass. The over all device qualify was flimsy and was falling apart after a week. I'm really disappointed in Razer. I used to have the barracudas and even got the sound card that came with it. Was never impressed with it. I also use their mice but they always break in under a year (albeit I love the mice for performance). I went back to Logitech for the keyboards because Razer just doesn't have what it takes to make a decent one. Over all, I'd say stay away from Razer products. You don't get what you pay for and I've been pretty loyal to them over the years just to get garbage quality devices. It's a shame because the design is so nice, but they skimp on materials to pocket the extra cash. At least that's what it seems like...

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Good quality audio but the 7.1 is nothing to brag about. Very comfortable headset. Awesome controls. Easy to use software to update firmware and drivers.

Cons: Mic quality is garbage. My mic on my Turtle Beach X12s is better than this mic. Really annoying settings.

Other Thoughts: This headset was absolutely amazing until i actually used it on skype and vent. I have great quality coming on my end but the people i would talk to would here massive amounts of static and sometimes ear piercing static. I researched the issue and updated my firmware which was supposedly the problem. NOT AT ALL infact it got worse when i updated i stopped all sounds in the room i used them in had no music or game sound playing just talking to someone and every time i wouldn't be talking static and it would make me sound like im using a $15 mic. Also the non stop pops that make it sound like im sitting next to a campfire or listening to a turntable. Not worth the money in the slightest i did buy these for better quality audio and comfort but i use my headset 8-14 hours a day to talk to people over skype or vent and having mic quality that is worse then the cheap small $15 mics and infinite static is absolutely unacceptable. Returning asap after two months of bad support and tons of time invested in researching and tweaking any setting imaginable to only receive minor improvements.

4 out of 5 eggsrazer megalodon

Pros: Great sound
Worth the price
USB interface
No sound card needed
Sound mixer

Cons: Bass isn't so great but I guess it's as good as any headset's

Other Thoughts: I love how they are so light! The first time I used them I thought the sound was still coming out of my stereo system (and I have a surround sound Bose setup) the quality is crystal clear in 7.1
If you change it to 2.1 I notice a very faint high pitch ring but if you're over 20 yrs, you probably don't need to worry about that

1 out of 5 eggsBah, don't bother.

Pros: Good Sound

Cons: Can't get out of 7.1 Sorround Sound mode in windows. Controller overheats often. Dies pretty much every day. RAZER support shrugs it off as a user issue.

Other Thoughts: Don't bother, RAZER has a few good products, but most are junk. Even my old NAGA mouse from them worn out after 1 month, went back to Logitech mice, never had an issue with Logitech.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with the Megalodon and a Naga. Please forward any correspondences you've had with Razer Customer Support to and we'll be sure to look into your case.

Thank you for understanding.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: Great pair of headsets. Good sound quality and very comfortable to wear.

Cons: Broke after just 1.5 yrs. These headsets mostly sat around my desk and was plugged in only when I was up late and I didn't want to disturb the family.

Other Thoughts: You sure don't get much for $150. If this was a cheap $20 headset then there would be no complaints.
