RAZER Orochi Black Bluetooth Notebook Gaming Mouse

Pros: Wonderful mouse. Bought it when I bought my MacBook pro, and was looking for an alternative to the Magic Mouse. Same price but without the swipe features (which I didn't want). Worked perfectly from day one, bluetooth is flawless and when the batteries get tired you can switch to wired mode. Perfect size for laptop and as expected, Razer quality.

Cons: If there is a MINOR gripe, it's that you cannot configure the mouse in bluetooth mode, must be plugged in to access the Razer customization panel, no a big deal, unless you leave the usb cable at home.

Other Thoughts: Bluetooth worked great with Mac OS X Mountain Lion and after a little work, worked better than expected with Windows 8 on Bootcamp partition. Seems to have pretty good battery life.

Pros: Very sensitive mouse; Razer seems to excel in that area. Fairly durable mouse, though scroll wheel rubber cladding is wearing now after a great deal of use. It is a good size for a laptop mouse, and isn't that heavy or too light.

Cons: This mouse will, at least twice a week, lose connection with my laptop's bluetooth antenna. It just....stops working, even in the middle of scrolling down a page. And it's not my laptop... I've tried this mouse with other people's devices, and problems there, too. It's impossible to get to pair up with a computer half the time, and it eats through batteries pretty quickly, too.

Other Thoughts: I have owned several Razer mice in the past, and I expected certain things for the price. The mouse itself works fine...WHEN it works. But for the premium that Razer puts on their products, I shouldn't have such a lousy connection. While this mouse does have a wire that you can use as an optional connection method, that defeats the purpose of being a laptop mouse, in my opinion.

Pros: Paid 70 bucks for this mouse in 2009. It worked flawlessly for 3 years. Excellent precision and response, used connected via wire usb.

Cons: Scroll wheel stopped responding properly after 3 years and 4 days. In retrospect, not worth 70 dollars for 3 years of function.

Pros: Fantastic mouse, works as expected on Ubuntu 12.04.

Cons: none that I am aware of. I am unsure of battery life

Pros: One of the two I bought worked right out of the box. Connected easily, the software is easy to use and configure.

Cons: One of the two would not connect via bluetooth at all but worked when plugged in. Both had issues with jumping the cursor randomly at times. The one with Bluetooth had it happen in both plug in and wireless modes.

My main issue here is with Newegg. When I called and asked for an RMA and a replacement, I was told that I would receive a replacement, apparently between the time that I asked for a replacement and the time the return arrived at Newegg, they ran out of this model of Orochi so instead of contacting me, asking if I wanted a different model of this mouse at the same price, putting one aside from the nest batch they received, etc., they refunded the money and raised the price on the next batch that was in stock a week later. I ended up paying shipping and receiving no product. When I asked a customer service person about this she said it was their policy to refund if they do not have the product in stock and that they do not back-order anything. I asked if it was also their policy to tell someone that if they returned a defective product they would receive a replacement and then not deliver the promised product. She would not answer this question so I must assume that the uncomfortable answer is "Yes." At this point she promised to refund the shipping costs, this was never done.

Other Thoughts: The one that worked was great for gaming on a laptop, except for the random jumping cursor issues that happened once in a while, which will get you killed in an FPS, RTS or an MMORPG. This is not a gaming mouse.

Defective products I can handle, it happens. I really hate being promised one thing and having the company that made the promise refuse to deliver. If my small business did this we would not survive. Newegg has changed as it has gotten bigger and because of recent issues like this, is no longer the first place I look for electronics, laptops and computer components. Unfortunately, this has not been an isolated incident. Two laptops that I purchased from Newegg at about the same time were also defective and a nearly identical scenario occurred.

Pros: Bought this mouse as a wireless/mobile solution for an laptop of mine. It has worked well for the majority of the time.

Cons: No real cons.

Other Thoughts: The mouse has worked well for the purpose I bought it for.

Pros: It has nice quality Razer design. Looks and feels great. Perfect size for notebooks. Works fine when using the cable. No issues with this mouse, when it is actually working.

Cons: Not really a wireless mouse. It works sometimes, but mostly not. It started off fine, but after a few weeks the Bluetooth connection would just cut in and out. Now it won't even power on using batteries.

Other Thoughts: Buy a the Logitech V470 if you're looking for a solid Bluetooth mouse.

Notes: I've tried using the mouse with several different laptops and always had the same issues. Then it started not turning on in wireless mode, but if I flicked the switch a few times it may start working then stop again. Finally, I gave up trying to use it wirelessly. The power light wouldn't come on, even with fresh batteries. Razer just doesn't make stuff like they used to. I hear they are adding DRM to their new mice.

Pros: This mouse overall was a great product. Having the ability to go wireless on the fly really sold this product for me. The braided cord was also very nice since I have issues with cords and crimping them. I have had 0 driver issues with this product nor has it every had issues connecting to my Bluetooth adapter.

Cons: I really can't use this as a con but the fact the DPI drops to its lowest setting when wireless made it less appealing for me. Another con that i experienced was the length of the cord which seemed to make the product only for laptops. Usually if someone is using a mouse with a laptop they would opt for the wireless feature making the cord moot.

Other Thoughts: At one point the batteries I had in the mouse exploded leaving a residue which I can only assume happened because they where being charged. The batteries where not chargeable. After the explosion the mouse still worked flawlessly which was great since I thought it was a goner.

Pros: Great mouse, use it all day every day for over a year and its going strong. Bluetooth is nice for the office and the wired is great for gaming. 4000 DPI is enough to get a great response while wired.

Cons: You will need to purchase a bluetooth dongle.

Pros: Lightweight, nice size and feel to it, great tracking, Just overall great product.

From the moment I seen the package it came in I knew this was going to be amazing. Anyone that puts that much thought into packaging must provide a good product. Even the storage bag is impeccably designed.

Cons: Price; at first I thought was a bit high, but after receiving the item and testing it I see it is no longer a con.

Other Thoughts: I really wish the corded function would recharge batteries, but I suppose that would cause an issue if it did and non rechargeable batteries were in it.
