1 out of 5 eggsOver all, this thing is junk!

Pros: Looks good. The pulsing Razer symbol is a nice touch
Affordable when on sale/with rebates. I believe mine was around $30.00
Software for re-configuring the mouse is easy to use
Razer does honor their warranty

Cons: Multiple components wear out or break very quickly
Terrible customer service from Razer
Software noticeably slows down computer at start up.

Other Thoughts: So I bought the mouse a few years back. Besides the software slowing down my start up it worked great for about 9 months. Then the laser died. That was a pain but stuff happens. I was able to begin the warranty process very easily through Razers website. They sent me a shipping label, I sent it off, they replaced it and sent the new one back with a tracking number.

A problem occurs upon delivery though, it isn't there! Turns out my neighbor stole it. Now none of that was Razer's fault but what happens next is. I call the shipping service's customer service and they would gladly help but they say since Razer is their customer, not me, they have to call and initiate the package trace. So I call Razer customer service and I get patched over to some call center in India. The women I spoke to didn't speak very good English and was basically not helpful at all. She basically just kept asking me things like "Did you look on your porch? Are you sure it was not on your porch?" for 10-15 minutes. Finally she gets the picture that it isn't there and says she is sending the case to the RMA department who will contact me in 2-3 business weeks! It has been two years since then and I still have not received the phone call.

After my neighbors wife chewed him out and made him return it I used the new mouse for several more months when the spring in the left click started to fail. Also the fabric cord started to fray. Eventually the spring got bad enough were it needed to be bent back into shape, a simple fix. Upon trying to repair it I found that the mouse could not be fully disassembled and long story short I tore the spring, partly due to bad design. I bought a new mouse and gave this one to my brother in law who fixed it. After fixing it the laser died in less than 3 weeks.

Over all this mouse is total junk. All the pro's are heavily outweighed by the cons. I would have given it less eggs if I could. A DOA mouse would get one egg, this should get "minus zero egg." Razer, please try harder. You are a reputable company with a strong following and I know you can deliver a better experience than mine. I won't find out though because after this I won't be buying Razer Products.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustration

Pros: The shape of this mouse was perfect. I wanted something that would replicate the feel and weight of the MX518 I had previously. In this aspect it worked perfectly, well, when it did work. The software was easy enough to navigate and setup. The precision of the mouse was not bad at all either, but....

Cons: This mouse would cut out randomly; middle of a game, checking your email, didn't matter. It would begin to lose either the x-axis or y-axis even on Razer own branded eXactMat.

Other Thoughts: This happened at the year mark right outside warranty. Can't say I'll be looking forward to Razer producs.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, not great

Pros: Extremely comfortable, ergonomics helped by sliding side buttons. Looks good, feels good in hand. No reliability issues in 3+ years of inconsistent use as the mouse for my gaming laptop.

Cons: I too had an issue with the tracking on this mouse early on; as another reviewer pointed out, it turned out that the Imperator really hates Razer's old eXactmat. Swapped for a Steelseries Qck fiber mat, never had an issue from that point forward.

Other Thoughts: Probably too expensive at MSRP, but for what I paid for it here, has been worth the money. Better gaming mice have since hit the market, making even the updated version of the Imperator obsolete.

3 out of 5 eggsImperator Review

Pros: Having had this mouse for over a year now I feel that I should review it now.
The performance of this mouse is really good. I have always been a big fan of razer since moving from a deathadder to this one. I was not surprised at how responsive it was when it comes to gaming which I do alot.
Love the style and feeling on my hand to first person shooters.
The marcos are a plus.

Cons: After about 10 months of constant use the left mouse started to not respond to well so I have to click harder now.
The software is a litte buggy.
All in all I expected this mouse to last longer then stock mouses I have used throughout the years and was disappointed. Being a gamer and all our mouse is one of our weapons we have to our advantage.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Mouse

Pros: Drivers are solid, good size, ergonomic, fine after 2 years.

Cons: Will not work on fiberboard desk or even Razer's own hard mouse pad (exactmat) (which makes no sense), yet any other mouse I've ever used reads them just fine.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to have a cloth mouse pad, because fiber board and even Razer's own mouse pad ExactMat won't work with this.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but left click problems after 2 weeks

Pros: Bought this as a gift for a friend with larger hands who was using a Deathadder that was reaching the end if its lifespan (5+ years). By all practical accounts he loved it and couldn't be happier: it was extremely accurate, fit well in his hands, and had great customization options. That is, until...

Cons: The left click suddenly stopped auto-firing when being held down, and then later gave out completely. The RMA was conducted through Razer, and there weren't any hangups in the process, but it was overall very slow and in the end they replaced his product with a refurbished one. Not really too happy about that...

Other Thoughts: Both my friend and I have been using Deathadders for ages and overall really like the style and precision of Razer's products, but this whole experience with the suddenly broken left click and slow RMA has been somewhat disenchanting...

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome mouse

Pros: Awesome shape and response times.

Cons: It is a little light.

Other Thoughts: Great mouse for long extended clicking, not what I would use for an FPS or MMO, but works great for here at work. I know the newer version is out, but I got this one on sale and it is ROCKIN'!!
