4 out of 5 eggsworks just fine

Pros: Very nice, natural grip, feels great. Lots of easily accessible buttons. Looks great. Good scroll wheel and button. Perfect mouse button click resistance.

Cons: Side buttons are a tad stiff, also they tend to be pressed by accident while quickly turning the mouse due to their position. Not perfectly ergonomical, after prolonged gaming sessions it puts some strain on your fingers.

Other Thoughts: This mouse is great, not perfect but it works well. I'm a casual gamer so I can't comment on the quality of the laser tracking, but I've never had any issues. The mouse shape is weird, rather flat, I have long hands so I can use a palm grip, but I guess it is more suitable for a claw grip.

About the reliability issues: I was hesitant to buy it after I read the reviews, but it works perfectly for me. I took the necessary precautions (USB hibernate off, don't install the mouse drivers) and it never failed in the 6 months I've had it. I'm using W7, not sure if that helps.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: This mouse rocks. I have been using pretty cheap mice before now and this one really was worth the investment. I actually wasn't used to the dpi at first, so it took a little adjustment. The colors are also customizable, which allows me to tailor it to my tower's color scheme

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: The price tag seems pretty high, but now that I've tried it, I have to say that Razr makes top-quality products. My buddy had one of these, and now it's really fun to go to lan parties with him and have the same mouse with different colors.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: 1. You can change the colors now(woopdeedoo)
2. DPI change on the fly
3. Smooth precise movements with proper Razer mouse-pad
4. Higher DPI range then my older Lachesis but same design

Cons: Randomly stops working and needs to be unplugged and reconnected.

Other Thoughts: I swapped this new mouse in from an older Lachesis 4000 which worked great for 2+ years with only a stubborn failing scroll bar button. To have any issues at all regardless of bad drivers, operating systems or whatever may be the real reason for the disconnects is completely unacceptable. I should be able to buy a Razer mouse with the same name and expect the same results.

My first Lechesis 4000 was the best mouse I ever owned and I went with it again because I wanted a mouse I could trust without learning to use something new, luckily it still works well enough to use. I would recommend people to buy stuff like this from your local stores for the ease of trying it and returning if something like this happens to you.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks well when it works...

Pros: This is a wondefully responsive mouse. I love the different profile settings, and it performs flawlessly in everything I throw at it, when it does work...

Cons: For no apparent reason, at random times the mouse stops working. Fortunately, either unplugging and plugging it back in or restarting my system does work, at least for now. This is, however, my second Lachesis 5600, as the first one died completely after a month. I'm of course worried that this one will die, too, and I'll abandon Razer then.

Other Thoughts: This appears to be a very common problem with this model, as web searches abound with the same issue. There are various apparent "fixes" for something that should work as advertised. Not happy with Razer.
Only one egg because the product should WORK.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi payneupnorth,

Please contact our Customer Support team at in order to file for a replacement unit. Sorry to hear that you've had an issue with your second mouse.

Thank you for understanding.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Mouse

Pros: Very responsive movement, easily adjustable sensitivity, and easy to use key programing application.

Stylish and people are in constant awe at the slowly illuminating and dimming RAZER design.

Cons: The protector for the underside "eye" (that dictates movement and jazz) is a bit bulky and elevates the mouse slightly.
Once, a hair got in there and severly restricted mouse usage some times.
It was easy to remove, and I have had no issues with it since.

Occassionaly, I have issue at start up where the mouse will not move. The buttons will work but the pointer will not move. Simply unplugging and replugging will fix this.

2 out of 5 eggs3rd Razer lachesis

Pros: - 1 of few 9 button mouses out there that can be used by a left handed person.
- Programable

Cons: - randomly shuts off, must remove/reinstall USB plug to get it to work again
- can't get it to save a 5600 DPI profile, reverts to a lower setting each boot

Other Thoughts: I do not believe I'll ever own another razer product. This is my 3rd Lachesis mouse and every single one of them has had the same failings. As you are playing a game or surfing the web they will randomly stop working. The lights are still on, but you can't move the cursor until you unplug the USB and replug it in. To make matters worse it's made from cheap plastics/materials so if you have children and they knock it off your desk it's a 50/50 shot on if something internally will break~

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mumnoch,

Please contact the Razer Customer Support team at in order to file for an RMA. Make sure you include a proof of purchase so that we can swap your unit out for a working one. Sorry to hear that you've had those types of issues with your Lachesis!

Thank you for understanding.

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre at best

Pros: Stylish visual design, good button layout, and very comfortable fit in my hand.

Cons: This is perhaps the most frustrating mouse that I've ever owned. Every single time that I cold boot into Win 7 Ultimate, it takes until ~30 seconds after booting before the mouse will respond to movement. The buttons work fine, though. I've kept up with the latest drivers, checked forums, and found no resolution to this issue.

The mouse works perfectly after that 30-second period, but in my opinion, the cost is not worth this frustration.

2 out of 5 eggsWhy so much hype?

Pros: LED's and side macros.

Cons: After only one week, it has this glitch/ stutter where i would be doing anything, gaming, web, and it moves on it own. Imagine that you are playing an FPS, and out of no where you turn around and get shot. And it's not only in games.

Other Thoughts: I've tried many mouse mats, most being Razers' own, and it still does this. Updated, lowered polling rate and DPI, NOTHING.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome mouse!

Pros: Best mouse I've ever used. Does me wonders for sniping in lots of shooter games, comfortable

Cons: I guess you could say a really BRIGHT blue LED.

Other Thoughts: 3.5 years of gaming, my 1st Lachesis top part developed a small crack, has been retired for my 2nd one and a Deathaddler

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage - dont buy!

Pros: None of the good features matter if the mouse doesn't work.

Cons: Have been a Razer customer for almost 10 years, I had the Razer Boomslang (with the roller ball), and have only owned Razer mice since.

The previous Lachesis I owned stopped working after a year. The macro buttons kept spamming the button over and over. I decided to give Razer one more chance, even though so many are having problems with this mouse not responding and having to be plugged back in.

Within 10 minutes, the piece of junk stopped responding, and I had to plug it back in. I really wanted it to work, but it wont. I tried different USB ports, and lower DPI / polling rate settings. No help at all. At least once an hour the mouse will stop responding.

Can't really play Diablo 3 on hardcore with this problem.

Switching to a R.A.T. It is really sad how bad Razer quality has gotten over the years.
