3 out of 5 eggsHit or miss

Pros: -Decent sound quality for games
-Comfortable with glasses
-Intuitive design
-True 7.1 feel

Cons: -Poor wiring on the inside. the soldering went bad after about 6-8 months. I took it apart an the wires are are thin as mechanical pencil lead.
-Green Razor logo stays on even when computer is asleep
-Bass left more to desire
-Cheap green decals inside on the drivers
-Switching from headset (7.1) to speaker (2.1) requires you to change audio settings on computer. Im sure if I had 7.1 it would be fine.
-Mic sounds like crud; very tinny. I just used the mic on my webcam
-External speaker interface has a weird adapter that tends to come unplugged from the controller
-Music doesn't sound as good as it should

Other Thoughts: **NOT WORTH $200 FOR OVERALL QUALITY**
I pre-ordered them when they first came out and Razer couldn't fulfill all of the pre-orders and i had to wait for the second batch. I was somewhat unimpressed with the quality when I received them as mentioned in the cons.
**I suggest passing up on these and getting something else. Maybe someone else will make an analog 7.1 with better components.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Comfortable for long gaming sessions

Cons: -Weak drivers. Sound isn't that great (I had a Xonar 7.1 sound card). Compared this to another gaming headset that cost just a little bit more.
-I felt that having real 7.1 wasn't that beneficial compared to virtual surround sound. I don't think that it's worse sacrificing sound quality for using 'real' surround sound.
-Most applications will not even use 7.1

Other Thoughts: If you are using these to play Battlefield 4, be sure to switch audio to war tapes.

5 out of 5 eggsTiamat's Have BASS

Pros: Five drivers per ear. True 7.1 FTW in all games that support it.
Music sounds good if you push the 7.1 off button on the controller box. As for the Bass must people don't think about it. But you have to download the audio drivers from RealTek.
After that you'll go deaf if you turn the subs up to much.

If you read the other reviews on here and think that these aren't the best of the best because of some non knowing peoples bad review. Believe me they don't know what they are talking about. You can't get any better then these.

Cons: After two years of use I broke the headset and had to wait for a week for replacement from Razor to come in.
When they arrived at my house they were not referbs like I thought they would be. Turns out this company still cares.
I had to pay for the shipping a whole $10.00 USD

Other Thoughts: If you want the winning edge buy these and downlaod the audio manager from Realtek

5 out of 5 eggsThese are great!

Pros: The directional sound on this headset is great. I play mostly Counterstrike: Global Offensive these days and these work great for footsteps in this game. The game only supports 5.1 so I can only imagine how well they replicate direction in a 7.1 application.

This is also the most comfortable headset I have worn hands down. The pads on the earcups are so soft you almost can't tell they are there after 10 minutes.

Cons: Listening to music with these is a mistake. With some tweaking you can make them sound decent in 2.1 stereo, but it's probably worth the investment to buy a set of audiophile headphones if you're interested in music.

This may not be as big of a problem for some, but I came from a wireless headset, and the cable for this headset is braided which is awesome, however, the memory on the cable is so bad that it is constantly twisted or bent in places. Doesn't detract from the headset much at all. Just an annoyance at times.

This headset isn't great out of the box. It requires a good sound card. Chances are your onboard audio isn't going to make these shine even at 7.1. Even with a good sound card some settings need tweaked to get what you want out of this headset, but it's well worth the time involved.

Other Thoughts: There are a lot of naysayers on the internet regarding this headset. This headset is no gimmick. I think a lot of the negative reviews are by people who haven't used this headset, or are not tech savvy enough to make it great.

Comments about the bass are most likely because Windows disables that channel by default. So like I mentioned above there are things that need to be addressed before it's used.

I previously used a Logitech G930 headset which was excellent for the cost, wireless connectivity, and the programmable buttons. I highly recommend that headset as well, but in terms of directional audio the Razer Tiamat 7.1 blows it out of the water. I also purchased the Turtle Beach XP Sevens, and after one month have had to RMA them. They sounded much better, but similar to the G930 did not produce directional audio nearly as well and cost much more.

All in all I think this is a good buy, and will certainly be the replacement for my current set when they finally take a dive.

4 out of 5 eggsgood headset

Pros: great audio
the cable is very durable
true 7.1 surround
mic is not terrible
very comfortable

Cons: mic broke and now either dangles or I keep it retracted but it still works fairly well while retracted.
needs a longer usb power cable for people who have their sound card in the lower expanion slots

1 out of 5 eggsSucks

Pros: Looks cool.
Really comfortable.

Cons: For the price, the sound quality sucked for me.
Had no bass.
The volume change selections didnt light up so was very hard to see in the dark.

Other Thoughts: I had it for a week and did everything I could to make it sound better. I had people come over to change the sound options. I downloaded equalizer software to try to get better bass out of it. I even had the right sound card. For the price, Its not worth it. I went the Astro A-40.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Surround Not Best Sound

Pros: Probably the best surround sound/directional audio you can find in a headset. You can definitely tell when something is in front or behind you. The pass through cable makes hooking along side a surround sound speaker setup very easy. Bass is deep and boomy.

Cons: Sound quality isn't as good as the Corsair Vengeance1500, which cost half as much. The 1500 just sounds better but doesn't have as good directional audio. No option to switch between 5.1 and 7.1. (these don't sound right in 5.1 mode, there is a silent zone directly behind you) There are a lot of cheap decoder boxes available that can be used to hook up a 5.1 analogue headsets to consoles. But since this is 7.1 only that means using a decoder box to hook these up to XBOX 1 or PS4, would give you a silent spot in the headphones.

5 out of 5 eggsThese are the real deal

Pros: - Great sound
- Comfortable
- Mic is super clear
- Headband feels nice and auto-adjusts
- They look cool
- Bass is really good
- 7.1 feels amazing, was playing Diablo III with 7.1 and its crazy hearing stuff fall around your character and it really puts you more in the game
- True 7.1 surround!
- Long cable makes it nice
- Pass-through speakers is a great idea.. good job Razer!

Cons: - The only bummer is they aren't wireless, but that's okay as they are awesome.
- Ear pads are a little on the small side, but honestly I don't even notice and they feel great no matter - so no egg loss here!

Other Thoughts: Have this and the Asus Xonar DX card to support true 7.1. I bought the Astro A50 before this and was very disappointed, thanks Razer for coming through for me!

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointment

Pros: -Works
-Comfortable
-Ease of use
-The volume control is cool.

Cons: -Poor VOIP Quality
-Microphone broke within 3 months.
-Strange audio glitches. Sounds playing in wrong channel, too quiet, then suddenly too loud.
-Price

Other Thoughts: I've owned other Razer products, and was never let down. I was never overly-enthused, either, but they did what I wanted them to do for a reasonable price. I took a chance on the Razer Tiamat and got burned. Within the first 3 months, something broke and the microphone now dangles, loosely connected. Fixed with some tape, but it shouldn't have broken in the first place. The audio quality and mic quality are terrible for the price. The performance is something you'd expect from a $80 product.
Stick to Sennheiser/Logitech for gaming headsets!
