4 out of 5 eggsGood headset

Pros: Good audio quality, easy to set up.

Cons: This product out of the box had crackling in the speaker, like there was a blown speaker.
Replaced it with another, works fine

5 out of 5 eggsHave stood the test of time!

Pros: Great sound
Great feel
Very sturdy

Cons: Took me a little bit to adjust my music settings, but once I got my music player to work correctly, the sound was awesome!

Other Thoughts: I have had many "gaming" headsets over the years, including Astro a40's. None of them lasted me more than a year, with my 3 kids, and dog, they always ended up with broken mics, cords, and the ear cups being taped on. I got this head set (not from newegg) on Feb 1 2013! have the shipping email saved for my own reference. The head set is still going strong, the mic still works and has no feedback, the ear cups are still attached normally, the sound dock still functions like new. After all this time the only thing that has gone wrong is the fake leather covering on the cushions has started to flake, and rip around the edges, but after contacting Razer support, I now have brand new cushions they shipped me for free!!!! Lets see how long they will go!!!!

3 out of 5 eggsGood sound, but bad design

Pros: First off let me say I purchased these from a local electronics shop.
-The sound is pretty good even with just my mobo 7.1 sound channels.
-They are pretty comfortable one you get them broken in.
-long cord so if you need to reach another computer that is nearby you don't really need to take them off or if your rig isn't right next to you.

Cons: - The plastic that was used in the construction of these is horribly fragile my entire head strap/band is covered in electrical tape trying to keep these from falling apart and being worthless.
- There are some issues finding the right software and getting it installed.
- had issues getting the mic to work correctly in windows 10 - but that may be a windows 10 issue.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this headset to other people as it just doesn't have the construction to last long enough to justify the cost. I think I may try to cast a aluminium headband to replace the junk plastic it has now.

1 out of 5 eggsCord wont stop tangling / weighs a million pounds

Pros: - great surround sound, you can tell exactly where enemies are coming from

Cons: - feels like it weighs a million pound, is the cause of my headaches/neck pains
- the headband strap is always uneven making the headset tilt to one side or another
- cord won't stop tangling no matter what length you have it at, it will just keep tangling and become one inch long
- the headset is broken after untangling the cord so many times, the cord literally falls apart

Other Thoughts: - No I would not recommend this headset to anyone who doesn't want to get surgery on their neck after using it

5 out of 5 eggsworth every dollar

Pros: sound is amazing, even when plugged into the mobo and not using 7.1 the sound is better then most headsets out there.
Awesome bass response and clarity.

build is solid yet flexible. has a long and sturdy braided cord, the ear cups are heavily padded, acts like a passive noise canceling feature. after a month of 4+ hour daily use the ear pads show no sign of wear or thinning. feels just as tight as the first day i wore them

in-line control is great, its nice and big with plenty of sound level settings and mic volume.

Cons: Nothing i would take away an egg for but there are things that a potential buyer should know about.

you can plug this into your motherboard, but you NEED an audio card with 7.1 channel support to use the full surround sound modes. also, can not adjust individual speak volumes with in-line control unless using 7.1 mode. you can still adjust overall volume and mic volume though.

the ear cups are extremely snug. the padding is thick, but it takes a while to get use to it. The first week i couldn't wear them for more then 1 hour before my ears started to hurt so anyone with big ears best beware.

the LED's stay on, even when you shut down your PC. Best thing to do is cut power to your surge protector or unplug the headset USB.

Other Thoughts: Great buy for anyone willing to invest the money for a good sound card. just be aware of the quirks before you buy so you are not surprised by them. The sound quality really is amazing

EDIT: I want to add to my review that I just bought my 2nd pair yesterday and this time I invested in the "accidental damage insurance".

I have seen a lot of reviews saying that the bass isn't good or there is no bass and bad sound quality.
I can not stress enough that you NEED A GOOD 7.1 SOUND CARD. Do NOT plug these into a motherboard or basic sound card!

2 out of 5 eggsOberated

Pros: 7.1

Cons: Speakers aren't that clear, even if you download 7.1 software, they sound like cheap headphones. My Beats have better sound and clarity with windows default software.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap Plastic Breaks

Pros: I give the quality of the physical audio components a 10 out of 10.
INSULATION: 10/10
Clear sound, Powerful and loud, customization for each channel.
Long gaming duration leaves no ear pressure pain
I leave my mic all the way retracted all the time and still every one can hear me, but I have to have my mic volume maxed and mic boost set high.

Cons: Purchased 10/30/2013. Today is 12/10/2015 and the plastic support above the head has broken. Not in one stressed location but 2 locations. When removing the head set it must be pulled away from the ears, and eye glasses, but this normal use will break it. If there is one obviously cut corner it is the ridged plastic support.
Why such a good headset was given a flaw which has yet to be revised, is beyond me. **Putting a flex point or sliding hinge at the apex of the arches in the support would have prevented this from happening to me and others. ***

Other Thoughts: Apparently this problem is not uncommon a simple search which contains. "Broken Tiamat" brought multiple sites which all had the same exact problem I have.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth time or money

Pros: They have 7.1 surround sound, comfortable, block out all outside noise(including my wife).

Cons: After having these for just over a year, the ear cushions fell off completely, contacted razer support regarding the issue because they don't see cushions for the tiamat, they told me to watch their online store and wait to see if they ever did sell them, gave no furthur help. Attempted to glue cushions back on, didn't work.

Other Thoughts: I bought these from razer store, not newegg. For these to fall apart right after warranty expires, seems legit. Apparently tiamats and other razer headsets have a history for falling apart like mine did. Wish I had done research before buying, do not recommend getting these. Did research into my replacements, HyperX Cloud's come highly recommended.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Good build quality, good microphone, really nice in-line controls.

Cons: Does not encompass the entire ear, rests on ears, pressing them against head. Sound quality and 3d positioning was better with Turtle Beach HPA2, but they died. I upgraded from Turtle Beach x12, which were more comfortable and had better bass, and after purchasing the synapse software for simulated surround, were much more impressive, having 50mm drivers. These were about $200, I guess I expected to be blown away like I was with my HPA2's when I got them, but these have nowhere near the sound quality, despite a much better reliability. But things that break are not really much use anymore are they?
