2 out of 5 eggsNot so much

Pros: They look is awesome if your into eye candy , the ear pieces are sturdy , and they are very comfortable. Great sound quality for the price.

Cons: The mic boom is weak and came apart on the 3rd week , the wiring breaks easily and warranty with Razor sucks period, at least in my experience with them.

Other Thoughts: This has nothing to do with Newegg as they are a great company and I purchase 90% of my products from them the headset was not purchased through them...my bad.
However Razor did not cover there warranty with me and I even offered to just buy a mic boom assembly out right with them and they couldn't even do that . So what am I to do purchase a completely new headset??? Well, I own a lot of Razor items but they will never get another dime out of me.

4 out of 5 eggsRazer Blackshark BF3 Edition

Pros: Moderate Noise Reduction, Comfortable Over Ear Design, Elongated Rectangle shape instead of circle for Ears, sharp looking.

Cons: Expensive for sound quality.

Other Thoughts: I would like to start off by saying I am a fan of Razer and the Community that it belongs to compared to other computer tech brands. Their products will be quality built no matter what. Now, these headphones have a rectangular ear piece design which fits my ears much better than round ear cups. I also have tiny ears which fit perfect in them. The noise cancellation is good but not amazing. I live with 5 siblings all under the age of 9 so noise cancellation is a big deal for me. 3.5/5 stars for noise cancellation. The sound is clear but not Crisp enough for the money. I love, love, LOVE music and am a huge audiophile. For the money you could get a nice set of Sony over ear headphones that will sound 3 times as good but then again you are paying for Razer, the gaming company and you are paying for a mic. The mic is decent but not as good as their Carcharias. I don't know what they did with the Carcharia mic but they did right by it, best mic out their for a gaming headset. I used to own the Carcharias and those are by far the lightest and most comfortable headphones you can buy, ever. But you aren't buying these headphones for the best sound quality and mic quality. Let's face it, these are the only legitimate Aviation Gaming headphones on the market. For those saying the Mic falls down after months of use, well their is a way to fix it, you just have to be smarter than the physical hardware which most people obviously aren't. Google it their is a piece you can tighten down inside that will fix it right up. 3.5/5 stars for the mic. 5/5 stars for design and aesthetics. 5/5 stars for being a BF3 somewhat custom design.. not that cool of a design for BF3, just blue and orange with letters. For $130 bucks I would love some better graphics but these are made to look like aviators so I guess graphics on the earpieces wouldn't match the theme. If you have the money to spend then get them and try them out. The bass is alright but not that solid when you turn the sound up high. If you don't have the money and you want bang for you buck, for Pete sakes go with the Carcharias, those are the best for the money. I have the original Carcharias so I don't know how well the new ones are. I have had these headphones and other products from razer for a while so if you have any questions just post on here and I will see if I can't answer them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset

Pros: Great sound quality and extremely comfortable. I have been wearing these headphones for multiple 8+ hour gaming sessions and there haven't been any problems due to comfortability.

Cons: The mic broke within the first 2 weeks of use. Razer was very quick to send a replacement microphone and so far it has worked beautifully.

Other Thoughts: The microphone tends to become a little loose and wobbly but it can be fixed. Every once and a while the nut inside the mic just needs to be tightened and then it will work just fine. Razer has great customer service and after a couple of emails for information they sent me a replacement microphone within a couple weeks. RAZER is the best!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Feel very nice, and strong. Quality is also nice. I hear things in the game now i hadn't ever heard before (bf3).
The orange and blue colors look nice too. Might not be that great for music due to treble or whatever sounding high (along with bass), but great for gaming.

The box is just as awesome, ha. Haven't had any problems with the microphone thing as others have. but i've only had it for a week now so we'll see.

Cons: Price is the only negative. Especially since they arent the best for music, but still a nice headset.

Other Thoughts: I was worried i wouldn't get these because instantly after i paid for them they said OUT OF STOCK on site, so i must've got the last pair. Also NewEgg was a big slow getting the shipment out. But they fixed it and free over night air shipping (i paid for 2 day). So all ended up great.

Razer did a great job designing this headset.
I said they werent great for music, but im starting to listen to music more and more with them. Mostly because i'm too lazy to hook up my other headset, ha

5 out of 5 eggsFreaking Amazing Headset

Pros: Deep bass, with no crackling when there are heavy explosions or when I am bombarding the drivers with heavy bass from my extensive techno library. Amazing sound quality, good for gaming and music. Impecable sound isolation. Wonderful design, very rugged and well put to together. Kudos for using metal for the construction of the head band. I had a phillips headset that had the earcup break off because it was made of plastic. I love that the boom mic is removable as I do in fact game and then leave the house and listen to music on the go. I love the insert for the headset if you remove the mic. Seems as if Razer thought of everything.

Cons: No cons wonderful build quality.

Other Thoughts: The only thing that I can think of, and I wouldn't call this a con because it is easily fixable, is the boom mic and its swiveling feature. I got this headset for my bday on the 17th of this month and today the mechanism fell apart. That being said nothing broke. And the way everything is designed I don't think it will ever break. That being said, After close inspection I found out that there is a threaded part at the end of the mic jack inside the swivel mechanism that is held tight by another threaded circular washer on the other side. People have been experiencing loosening because of the fact that they keep moving the mic up and down and the washer gets loose. If you remove the silver part on the top part of the swivel mechanism you will see the washer. Just simply tighten it back on and you will have fixed the issue. The best part is the fact that the silver part snaps right back in because there is a metal part inside the mechanism that holds it in place. e.g. you don't have to worry out pulling the silver part off and having to re-glue the silver part back on. It just snaps back in. Long story short, after my tinkering with it I fixed it and I don't think I will have to tighten it again for a long time. The mic swivel action actually has more resistance when I move the mic because I tightened the washer. :) People have been saying up and down that this is a major con, but all they need to do is tighten the washer inside and the voila the problem is solved. They are saying that this is a major issue that Razer didn't account for, but it is accounted for in the design, as this is a military head set design every part in here is high quality and it has lots of metal in it. They used a metal washer to tighten the swivel mechanism, just be glad they didn't use plastic. Then the boom mic is liable to snap off. All you have to do is tighten they mechanism every now and again like you would the nuts on a skateboard. :)

3 out of 5 eggsMixed feelings

Pros: Extremely comfortable. Sound quality definitely satisfactory.

Cons: Mic assembly sucked horribly. Mic came apart after a week of no tampering besides the occasional removal of it from the headset. The mechanism isn't very complicated, but almost impossible to put back together.

Other Thoughts: I was extremely happy with the headset at first. Its comfort was unparalleled after long 15 hour gaming sessions.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks good

Pros: Looks amazing

Cons: No volume control
No mute on/off button

Other Thoughts: These look great, i would love to pair with my BF3 mouse/mouse pad which are from razer as well. Unfortunately the negative reviews of a loose mic and no volume control with mute button is a deal breaker. At that price range its too steep without those features.

1 out of 5 eggsConstruction Flaw

Pros: Aesthetically pleasing. The best aviator look-a-like gaming headset. Excellent sound. Loud bass which I like.

Cons: After around a month of use the boom microphone started to swing downwards by itself. The mechanism is already loose and this is what Razer should improve the next time they release an upgraded model. Everything looked almost perfect aesthetically except for this. The second con is that there is no volume control on the cord. However it is the loose boom mic issue that made me decide to return this otherwise awesome aviator headset. When Razer fixes this issue I'll re-purchase it again. Don't get carried away by the looks! Don't waste your money!

Other Thoughts: I will re-purchase this when Razer fixes the problems especially with the boom mic. I'm extremely disappointed since I've been waiting for this design for years!!!

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Sorry to hear that about your microphone - but no need to repurchase it! Please contact us at http://razersupport.com/email and we'll be able to assist you and/or help you with an RMA.

Thanks for understanding.
