5 out of 5 eggsAmazing mouse !

Pros: This mouse is amazing, even if you are not a gamer and are looking for a mouse to use this is the one! You really get what you pay for, the feeling of this mouse is amazing. It makes me feel as if I have better control over my computer.

Cons: Too hard to use the buttons in the right side.

5 out of 5 eggsdiamondback 3g, new and improved!

Pros: i am a huge fan of the old razer diamondback 3g. i've used almost every mouse brand out there, and i keep coming back to razer. i have an ouroboros at home, and wanted a wired mouse for work.
if you have ever used a diamondback, or an ouroboros, you'll recognize the shape and buttons immediately. the coating is a bit rough to make gripping easy, and the sides are a nice rubber for good grip. the side buttons feel solid, as does the scroll wheel. the left and right mouse buttons are everything about razer that i love. they're easy to click, but register you're click well (if you you like to tap while gaming, this mouse is great!).
it's basically an updated diamondback 3g, with new tech and new materials. the shape is slightly more futuristic, but all the good points are still there thankfully :D

Cons: would have liked slightly bigger teflon feet. and for those with smaller hands, the thumb buttons are slightly forward. but i'm seriously nit-picking there!

Other Thoughts: razer make some of the best mice available. the materials look and feel great, and the software has come on a long way as well.
would love to see a version of this mouse appear like the diamondback, with a transparent rear section. and hopefully someone at razer will suggest putting the mamba wireless engine in this baby! the mamba and ouroboros are great mice, but i'd take a wireless taipan over any of those every day!

5 out of 5 eggsSimple, effective, and comfortable.

Pros: Light weight, ambidextrous mouse. Very sensitive main buttons with short travel time. Side buttons are easy to access. The textured rubber sides gives the user plenty of control without worrying about your fingers slipping on the sides. The plastic body is also finely textured giving some stability to your grip. Versatile grip selection. I use a finger tip grip, but one could easily use claw or palm on it just as easily. The Synapse software gives tons of customization options, allowing the user to configure button bindings, macros and up to 5 different levels of sensitivity from 400 dpi to 8200 dpi. The software also calibrates the sensors to your mouse pad for optimal performance. The stat tracking and heat map features are a nice touch for those MLG Pro Gamer types.

Cons: I don't like that a lot of the software features are cloud based and require logging into Razer's cloud servers. The mouse will work if your internet goes down, but you won't be able to access your stats and heat maps. Not really a huge negative, but sort of unnecessary. It also feels like a lot of the price tag is based around having an 8200 dpi sensor, which is pretty excessive. I can't think of anyone that plays with a dpi sensitivity even remotely close to that.

Other Thoughts: I've always wanted to buy this mouse, but the $80 price tag was a little steep. I bought this on sale, and for $50, it was well worth the price. I've noticed the Taipan has come down in price a bit, which makes them a better value. I like the feel of this mouse. It seemed big at first, and I don't have particularly big hands, yet I have no problem using a finger tip grip. This is a pretty light mouse, so it may not be the right choice for people who prefer a little heft to their mice.

1 out of 5 eggsI hate this mouse

Pros: When it works it seems to work on many different surfaces, it fits my left hand.

Cons: This mouse is TERRIBLE, customer service is TERRIBLE. I only use this mouse with my PC and I also have a macbook that I carry around all the time. This mouse has made me use my PC much less, the reason why is I always have to unplug and replug my mouse in every time I boot up my PC. Than most of the time I have to deal with lag and an unresponsive mouse for the first 15 minutes of use, while the mouse seems to need to warm up. Than if I get lucky and the mouse works when I boot up my PC I still have to unplug and reconnect my mouse so that the synapse software recognizes it, and lets me configure the buttons for my left hand...

Other Thoughts: I have contacted support many times about this mouse and they just tell me to recalibrate it. I do that and that seems to fix the lag on start up but not the connection issue.

On my times I have told friends how much I hate this mouse and how much trouble I have had from this mouse.

I have successfully discouraged my friends from buying JUNK from razer. If they would just help me this wouldn't be an issue.

DO NOT BUY JUNK FROM RAZER!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome mouse

Pros: Comfortable feel in your hand. Responsive adjustable sensitivity. Customizable buttons, and works for lefties as well as righties.

Razer Synapse software is not as horrible as some people claim. It works fine for me and it was nice to have my setting carry over from a format I had to do cause Windows got all slow as it sometimes does.

Cons: The logo light fades in and out and some people find it annoying but it can be disabled, it's either a breathing pattern or off. The scroll whell light is a separate setting.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty Good, Not Perfect

Pros: It's quite good and no-nonsense if you're into more traditional feeling and operating mice. I didn't need a lot of macro buttons or some ultra-ergonomic NASA-inspired mouse. Just allow me to adjust DPI and put a few buttons on the side. It does all of these things pretty well, there's not a lot of accidental clicks on the side buttons for me, though it might for people with bigger fingers/hands. DPI can be adjusted on the fly and you can change the presets.

Plus, it goes up to 8200, which is good for people who want incredibly high DPI, even if it's just for short spurts like myself. The lights are also sorta cool too, but you can also turn them off if you don't like it.

Cons: My biggest personal gripe is with the braided cable. Not the cable itself, I can understand that's a feature, but the cable comes out of the very bottom of the mouse, and when it falls off of the desk it causes significant friction. It might seem like a small thing, but it can have quite the effect when handling the mouse, and more importantly, it's caused fraying of the cable. A regular rubber cable wouldn't have this problem. Really all they needed to do was make the cable come out higher up like it is on most mice. I jury-rigged something that would stop it, and it's fine, but it's a significant design flaw.

I never thought of the software as too intrusive but waiting for it start up can be a pain and it's caused some strange problems when installing OS updates.

There's seemingly no way to clean out below the mouse buttons or perform any maintenance. If I really tried I might be able to disassemble it, but in previous mice I was simply able to lift up the main buttons.

5 out of 5 eggsA great mouse, for more than just gaming!

Pros: Fits my hand, smooth response, easy access buttons, ambidextrous

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: Got this mouse to replace an aging copperhead. Part of my choice was that I like to be able to change which hand I use the mouse with to relieve stress in my neck, so it being ambidextrous was important to me. I also have long fingers, so having a mouse that fits my hand was also important. Most mice are to small for comfortable, relaxed mousing. The software packages also make it easy to control mouse actions and to customize the buttons, without overcomplicating the actions. A great mouse so far, and fits my paw just lie the old Copperhead it replaces did.

1 out of 5 eggshorrible customization

Pros: ergonomic shape and overall comfort is good.

Cons: the synapse software is major let down. as bad as the lachesis software is, it offers more functionality. the on-the-fly sensitivity actually works with the mouse wheel, can bind a button to a specific DPI not this clutch press and hold which would be nice in addition but alone is inadequate and last of all does not require an internet connection ff s!!!

Other Thoughts: returning this immediately as no ability to set specific DPI to a button is a deal breaker, a major oversight in the synapse software. but i am sure razer gave it the seal of approval as is anyway. will probably be my last razer purchase as they seem to be dumbing down gamer features which once made their mice a standout product.
