Pros: nice cable

Cons: Want drivers? Sign away your rights and intellectual property to them, and they'll let you use the mouse you paid for. If not, you're stuck with a basic mouse at a gaming mouse price. Terms are unacceptable and returning.

Other Thoughts: RAZER is no longer on my list of decent companies. Any company that disrespects their customers gets my distrust.

Pros: Good texture. The DPI adjustment buttons are well placed.

Cons: Middle mouse button conducts electricity. I have zapped the mouse with static electricity just by touching it. Although, it seems like it requires a fairly large charge before it'll zap you. This threshold seems to be higher than other mice.

Other Thoughts: The mouse is a little narrow for my taste.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat ambidextrous mouse

Pros: -Good responsive mouse
-No Tracking Issues
-Comfortable (I have long skinny fingers and this relatively small mouse is great, I actually prefer it to the new Deathadder.)
-DPI buttons on the mouse are a nice touch

Cons: -Thumb buttons are a little small
-Hard to use the ones on the right side (Probably because it's meant for the lefties)

Other Thoughts: A bit expensive for what it is, but you will still be happy for your purchase. A lot of people will prefer the Deathadder but if you prefer a more symmetrical mouse this is the way to go. If you like changing your sensitivity a lot this mouse is nice for that.

4 out of 5 eggsthe taipan

Pros: -ambidextrous is a plus for those who covet that particular feature
-my hand tends to sweat a little after long usage, but the textured finish makes it easy to just wipe down with a wet cloth and it is as good as new
-textured thumb grip is nice to touch and defintely
-mouse back forward keys are perfectly positioned above the thumb with easy operations, although this is preference since up and down back forward/keys are just as easy to use
-textured thumb grip definitely gives more of a gripping feeling and sense of security
-black and green, razer colorway just looks down right awesome

Cons: -maybe its the way I hold the mice (palm grip) but it took a while getting used to not hitting the back/foward buttons with my ring finger
-the dpi switches are placed in a rather inconvenient area right below the scroll wheel and there isnt any indicator as to what dpi its currently at

Other Thoughts: -the scroll wheel doesn't give as satisfying click response as I would personally like, but it gets the job done.
-couldn't really tell how flat the mouse is in videos or measurement specs. I used to be a claw grip as I like have big fat mouses in my hand, but using this mouse with a palm grip is the most comfortable. A claw grip is kind of awkard using this mouse cause it is rather flat
-many people like to grip about software, but for me if i plug it in and it works fine with the controls of the mouse, i'm good to go

5 out of 5 eggsRazer Taipan

Pros: Small, comfortable mouse. Made out of great material. I own other razer mice and i can say this is the best one so far. My other two mice (deathadder and imperator) both overtime built up marks of where i place my fingers. The taipan is made of different material which i haven't gotten any marks. This mouse is perfect for me because i don't have the biggest hands and i control my mouse using fingertip.

Cons: The price. No complaints so far except maybe the price. $80 is really expensive. But if you can find this on sale i would highly suggest picking it up.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat feel!

Pros: Looks great. Works amazing on a Ratpad or a Razer mesh pad.

Cons: Using the mouse with my right-hand, the 2 buttons on the right get in the way. Feels weird, almost like there isn't a good spot to rest my ring finger.

2 out of 5 eggsUghh...

Pros: Mouse worked great when it worked... until it doesn't. When it does work, I absolutely love it.

It utilizes Razer's Synaspe software, the same driver software common across all of their devices as of late. Some love the software, others hate it. Personally, I don't absolutely despise it, but it certainly isn't my favorite piece of software in the world. The software allows you to do all of the common gaming-mouse related tasks... customizable buttons, DPI adjustments, surface calibration, etc.

Since this is only my second gaming mouse (my first being the Razer Diamondback 3G), I can't truly comment on how it compares to other gaming mice out there. But I will say that it preforms well compared to my old Diamondback 3G. It isn't quite as comfortable as my old mouse, but this was to be expected—I used the Diamondback for over 5 years and I knew it would be tough for me to accept a different feel.

Cons: The mouse has tons of problems with my Z87 systems. No deal-breakers, but tons of nagging, super annoying issues to deal with. Most of these issues seem to be fairly common problems (but not universal problems) just based on other reviews.

After a cold boot, the mouse tracking is terrible. Almost like someone turned the polling rate to 0.5 Hz. It takes 15-20 minutes for the mouse to "warm up" to begin to function correctly. Disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse seems to speed up the "warm up" time to 2-5 minutes, but it doesn't solve the problem. Same issue occurs after waking the computer from sleep. Takes at least 5 minutes for it to work properly. The issue isn't limited to the Taipan, I also have a Razer keyboard that doesn't work properly with Z87 systems.

Doesn't matter if I use different drivers, no drivers, different operating system (Win7/8), etc. the issue still occurs. So it appears to be an issue with the hardware itself. Razer support seems just as clueless as I am. The last time I tried contacting them they simply stopped responding.

Other Thoughts: I mentioned in the "Cons" section that the issues only occurs with my Z87 systems. I've tried three different Z87 motherboards, all with the same results. Just annoying problems left and right. For now I have gone back to using my Diamondback 3G (which works flawlessly, by the way) until my new mouse from a will-not-be-named different manufacturer arrives.

THAT SAID, prior to Z87, I used both the Razer Taipan and another Razer peripheral on an AMD 990FX system for nearly a year and both devices worked flawlessly. I have a feeling it has something to do with how Haswell handles power savings, but I cannot confirm this since I cannot seem to get any help with the issue.

I do like the mouse when it functions properly, but unfortunately the issues I have encountered prevent me from recommending it—particularly if you have a new Haswell system. Disappointing to say the least... I had such a great experience with my Diamondback 3G and I was hoping the Taipan would be equally as great.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Comfortable no matter how you hold it

I bought this to replace my G500, took a gamble on razer after being a loyal logitech customer for over a decade. they won me over. i ordered an anansi to go with this taipan.

Cons: - No option to make the Razer logo stay lit, only pulsing or completely off.

it's a small nitpick, but the logo on the back of the mouse slowly pulses on and off. there is an option to disable it in the razer synapse program, but no way to make it just solid on. also, customizable LED colors would have been nice.

Other Thoughts: I had always gone with logitech, and had friends with razer products that i had used. i never really liked the lachesis, blackwidow, naga, etc.; but this mouse completely changed my opinion of them.

1 out of 5 eggsTaipan is horrible

Pros: none

Cons: The wire sits to low on the mouse so when you try and use it in any FPS you have a stutter due to the mouse catching on the mouse pad......

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mouse!

Pros: To start, the mouse has great control and feels good in the hand. The rubberized thumb grip is amazing and the coating on the mouse is good as well. I have owned another Razer mouse that lasted me 3 years and i'm hoping to get that or more out of this mouse.

Cons: The only con that I can find with it is that it doesn't really fit more than just one finger on each of the mouse buttons (only speaking of the Right and Left mouse buttons). I play games where it is more effective to have the index finger on the left mouse button and the middle on the scroll wheel and the ring on the right mouse button. the mouse is narrow enough that it isn't really comfortable to have more than just the index and middle finger on it.

Other Thoughts: Overall a very solid mouse. The buttons all click effectivly, the tracking is excellent and the software is really easy to use. A definite good buy!
