4 out of 5 eggsRequires a fix for the palm pad

Pros: It's basically the heir to the nostromo throne, if you've gamed with the nostromo then you will probably have to buy this for current generation replacement, no one else makes a product ergonomically close enough to have another choice.

Cons: Glue securing palm rest to palm rest pad loses adhesiveness around skin temp, so it slides off while gaming leaving a mess. I pulled the pad completely off and cleaned up the pad and plastic with WD-40 and some paper towels. Going to re-secure it with liquid nails.

2 out of 5 eggsBad Customer Service

Pros: -comfortable
-mechanical Keypad
-great for gaming

I really do enjoy the Orbweaver as a product, I just hate the problem I've had with Razer customer service.

Cons: The reason i'm writing this review- I had purchased this product early in 2013 and within a month I was having problems with the palm grip and palm rest. The glue wasn't holding and I eventually had to take them off to save my sanity.

I contacted Razer in September of that year within my warranty. I was told I was going to need a repair or exchange. I waited patently for 3 more months with no word from Razer and when I finally contacted them I was told the parts were on back order. Fast forward a full year later and contact Razer again about the same issue I am told they will ship out the parts.

Well the parts finally arrive via snail mail 3 weeks; however, the parts are feet pads of the Razer Orbweaver and I still too this day do not have replacement parts for my palm grip or palm rest.

Other Thoughts: I was seriously considering getting a Razer Blade or Razer Blade Pro once I had the money saved up, but I'm not about to spend $2000 on a laptop with 1 year customer service. Especially when that customer service does nothing for over a year and still fails to address the problem.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I absolutely love this gaming pad! It feels great with the customizable palm and thumb adjustments. And gives a very satisfying click with every push of the button. It works great not only for MMOs, but does great with all of my FPSs. Anyone would be impressed with the build quality of this gaming pad. It also goes wonderfully with my Deathadder 2013 gaming mouse and Ultimate Blackwidow 2014 gaming keyboard.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Buy this if you want one of the best gaming keyboards out there!

5 out of 5 eggsHonesty

Pros: The functionality, the updates, the durability and the responsiveness of this gaming pad is incredible. I have used this for multi-hours of continuous gaming and only come up with one tiny complaint. But I totally recommend this keypad/gaming pad to anyone and everyone.

Cons: I've used my orbweaver for almost a year and a half now. The only problem that has come up is that the rubber pad for the palm of your hand to rest on, the adhesive is giving way and it's sliding. I recently noticed this as I was gaming and felt my hand getting sticking. I looked and noticed that the rubber had slid to the side. Now I'm looking for a way to peal it clean and hopefully find a different adhesive to re-apply it back to the pad.

Other Thoughts: It's an amazing keypad/gaming pad. It works fantasticly and is very user friendly. But if anyone has a suggestion about re-applying adhesive to the rubber pad let me know please.

3 out of 5 eggsGood to bad based on hand size

Pros: Good number of programming keys, adjustable for hand sizes, mechanical keys and switches. Ergonomics are hard to define clearly but will favor some very well, good for people who play a lot for the key to palm angle

Cons: Rubber pads are held on by adhesive that will wear out leaving a large amount of sticky adhesive, need for adjustable raising of the palm part, Thumb 8 way pad can be a little tricky to use, keypad should have some tilt choices to make it easier to work bottom row, thumb area is not adjustable forward or backwards could make things more difficult to use should have a lockable pivot. Key stroke is not clearly detectable when activated not feed back pressure

Other Thoughts: Razer should have used press in rubber buttons instead of the adhesive, my only two gripes are mainly the adhesive issue and the lack of angle adjustments for thumb and keypad which cause missing the key stroke I wanted. I play Battlefield a lot. Tried reaching for the knife to counter being knifed ended up throwing a grenade instead. Razer should have done a little more homework on this one. Not great but not bad. Wished they did not take quick route on somethings

5 out of 5 eggsRazer Orbweaver

Pros: I love this gaming errr "keypad". I wasn't going to give 5 stars at first but I couldn't justify it because honestly, this thing is perfect for me. The difference in the fatigue your hand acquires from this vs. a normal sized keyboard is like night and day. I recommend getting some form of one hand keypad for anyone who plays computer games for more than one hour at a time, and this is one of the better ones. The customization was also a pleasant surprise, my hands usually make most computer peripherals look like some cheap baby toy, but this thing truly has a great range of customized positions for it's wrist rests.

Cons: I honestly can't think of any, I freaking love this thing. I'm sure though that the use of cherry blue mechanical switches aren't going to please everyone. Basically they used the loudest switches with the most actuation resistance that there is, but i actually prefer this. And of course there was a "stealth" version that uses brown switches which are much quieter, with less actuation force.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing and responsive!

Pros: Extremely responsive and ergonomic!
Makes FPS and RTS games comfortable to play.

Cons: Sometimes difficult to map everything to.

Other Thoughts: This device is amazing and makes FPS and RTS games a blast to play with all the keys you need at your fingertips. Sometimes however with some games (especially those originally designed for consoles), it can be difficult to map certain keys. However this is a shortcoming of the game and not the device. Fortunately Razer has thought of this.

When you have games that require a combination of keys, or requires you to hold a key (with no option of a toggle), you can create a profile for that game that reduces key combos to one key press or allowing you to create macros that will enable a toggle on a toggle-less command. And the greatest part is that all Razer products can have profiles programmed to them like this, including it's keyboards and mice. And the final win for these devices is the ability to save your profiles to the cloud. So although the mouse doesn't have onboard memory for storing profiles...if your computer has the driver software and the internet, you can easily procure your settings.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Palm Rest
Adjustable Thumb buttons
Adjustable length from keypad
Sturdy
20 Keys with Cherry mx Blue

Cons: Long learning curve
Does not fit small hands (My girlfriend cant reach top row 1-5)
Thumb and "space" button are NOT cherry mx switches, they are mouse button switches

Other Thoughts: This was a gift from my GF because I kept ripping through keyboards like a dog eating bacon. I had a LOOOONG learning curve experience before I stoped looking down, about 4 hours. The ability to create macros on the fly was a huge bonus for me. I have large hands so I had to extend the base and thumb and it fits like a glove. The "feel" of the click when I press a key is fantastic as well as hearing it. For gaming I highly recommend this fine Piece of hardware, but if money is an issue I would suggest the Tartarus instead. I have this paired with my Deathadder, in unison the experience is remarkable.

5 out of 5 eggsThis retired my belkin n52 (finally)

Pros: Pros? lots,

+ 20 main keys you can readily reach with a large hand, 15 keys you can readily reach with a small hand (if you have a small left hand, it will be a touch choice between orbweaver and tartarus model game pads).
+ customize the ergonomics to fit you personally (extremely good adjustability)
+ the software (finally) grasps some of the key good points of the old belkin n52 software suite. Older razer game pad products completely failed to understand the power and versatility of the belkin nostromo, and when they took over the nostromo line razer made a 'lesser' product on the software side. This is finally no longer the case.
+ completely destroys the G13 (Bambi vs Godzilla style) on ergonomics & key accuracy confidence
+ did I mention the software? it's *extremely* versatile, with a tremendous range of ways to customize the device. I have not even utilized all of it's features yet, which is in and of itself remarkable.
+ it feels very quick, no lag time.
+ the backlighting is a nice touch, although I do wish it had custom color selection (learn to love your radioactive green).
+ it sits very securely in place on the desk
+ it is very easy to teach your fingers the layout, and commit it to muscle memory accurately.
+ it "feels" very robust. I tend to think razer makes relatively "cheaply built" products, but the orbweaver feels like money.

+ finally something better looking than my n52 nostromo, which manages to provide more keys without sacrificing confidence with key selection accuracy, while simultaneously providing ergonomics to reach them all if your hand is not small, more software versatility (didn't think that was even possible), more ergonomically customizable, and there are less cheetos crumbs deep down inside the device. It's a masterpiece.

Cons: - The thumb assembly can flex and be somewhat unstable if you have it adjusted to it's fully extended position. I can't blame Razer for this, it's a tricky engineering issue, and they erred on the side of being more adjustable, which is a pro. To give it a more solid feel, I was able to jam an old rubber-sleeved mini-usb stick drive into the space between the thumb assembly and the main housing, and this gives it enough stability to feel very solid (problem solved). Again, it's only an issue if you extend the thumb assembly out pretty far for larger hands, and you only notice the flexing when you push the upper thumb button.

- if you use the thumb pad/stick for keypress functions not related to movement, then this 8-way stick is not for you. It's hard to move directionally with perfect accuracy. It works great if you use the stick to move around in a game, but if you wanted 4 key activations bound under your thumb, it's not ideal. I strongly recommend getting a nostromo with 4-way Dpad for that manner of use.

Other Thoughts: It has mechanical keys... some people seem to go ga ga over that. I don't really care. I've used membrane keys since dinosaurs roamed the earth, and I'm perfectly used to them. I don't really notice the supposed benefit of mechanical keys vs any well made membrane keys. But it has them, if that's your thing.

On new egg here, this is the regular orbweaver model. It uses different mechanical keys than the orbweaver 'stealth' (available only on the razer website). The stealth's mechanical keys are quieter, though it's a bit more money on the razer website. I sprung for the stealth myself.

It does not appear that you need to connect to the web to use the orbweaver with synapse 2.0. You can export profiles to local save files, and you can turn off it's internet syncing, although I leave it on generally, I like that I don't *have* to.

For most games, you will want to set the movement stick to 4-way (rather than 8-way, don't worry it will still read diagonals correctly as pushing 2 of your 4way keys), and you will want to re-bind it to wasd, with A and D set to strafing movement in the game (it's bound to arrow keys by default).

Last week I unplugged my belkin nostromo from the computer. My desktop is always a frankenstein of various components of different ages. My old belkin nostromo was my very oldest (and most adored) item. It's kind of a big deal that the orbweaver was able to get me to box up my nostromo. My review of the orbweaver sounds like 'razer fangirl', but that's very much not the case. Generally I think razer has poor build quality and poor software. I'm not much of a razer fan. But I love this orbweaver.
