5 out of 5 eggsSony MDR-RF970RK works well for me.

Pros: Clarity, volume control

Cons: None as of this review

Other Thoughts: The ability for lower TV sound, which my wife prefers, while I can enjoy clear, crisp sound at a higher level that I prefer. Very helpful if one of us goes to bed while the other is still watching TV. For us, it's an excellent product.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad, not bad at all.

Pros: Inexpensive
Wireless
Comfortable
Adequate sound

Cons: A little heavy
Slightly warm
Bass is a little muddied
Highs fall short

Other Thoughts: These are a comfortable, simple to use, and more than adequate sounding set of wireless headphones. Mine seemed to be in near mint condition with the exception of a couple minor smudges and scratches on the base. I can't even tell if the headset itself has ever been used.

Comfort wise, they're a bit heavy for long gaming sessions nor would I recommend them for all day use. They also tend to be a tighter on the head andbit warmer around the ears than my MDR-XD200s.

Acoustically, they're great for my day-to-day background music, gameplay, and TV watching but I don't think I'd ever use these for a concentrated listening session. The bass line seems to be bit muddied and the highs seem to fall a little short. I'm not sure if the problem originates at the transmitter or the speakers but the end result is the same. I think an equalizer will probably help correct these issues.

Overall, I can recommend them.

1 out of 5 eggsReplacement Unit, Lemon Part Deux

Pros: Same pros as my first review, still comfortable and sleek looking. Newegg has performed their job flawlessly and with high efficiency.

Cons: Huge disappointment again. Same cons as my first review, however this replacement unit did actually come with the NiMH battery pack unlike the first. The sound quality is so bad, the popping sounds hurt my ears listening to anything on them and the radio hiss is terrible (even sitting right next to the RF transmitter). I am beyond disappointment.

Other Thoughts: As stated, Newegg did everything proper as they normally do. With other positive reviews, I guess I just have terrible luck and have received now two defective "Refurbished" units. Others might continue to have better luck and get decent refurbished units, just keep in mind it is possible to get lemons too (which I suppose applies to any manufactured product, just never had two in a row like this before).

5 out of 5 eggsSony come through again!

Pros: I use these as computer headphones. The cord plugs right into the sound card jack.
Light and comfortable after hours of use. The earcups are designed to accommodate the shape of your ears. I've got a big head for a average size guy. Some adjustable ball caps are too small for my head.
The batteries can be replaced with AAAs, you can also find the rechargeable battery pack online. ]
The 3 channel FM band setting is helpful in the apartment building I live in.

Cons: Some may find the Bass a little weak, you don't want bass to thump on headphones you will pop your eardrums! With my PC's sound card EQ software, I tweaked it so the rocket blast or gernade thump fills out nicely.

Other Thoughts: I would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound fantastic price

Pros: Great sound, comfortable. Recharagable.

Cons: had trouble with the promo code.

Other Thoughts: I have been looking for wireless headphones for some time since I sometimes stay up late and when I saw these headphones on the e-mail at this price, I bought two. Gregt item and an even better price. Don't be afraid to buy refurbished. I have bought refurb items from NE for years and always reliable and good quality.

1 out of 5 eggsLemon

Pros: Sleek looking. Seemed comfortable on the ears and head for the short time of use.

Cons: Horrid sound quality. This particular unit was obviously not refurbished properly. Low volume output from input device, lots of hissing, frequent crackling, practically no sound depth to speak of (very flat, not bass or clear treble). It sounds like $5 pair of headphones gone bad. The whole sound experience reminds me of a torn speaker cone. Also, the headset's plastic creaks a lot, even from subtle head movements. The refurbished box also did not come with the NiMH battery as stated, thankfully I had alk-AAA lying around.

Also I did try all three channels on the headset, and tried the headset using two different devices; computer and a mp3 player.

Other Thoughts: I never buy refurbished items of any sort due to fear of receiving a sub-par item. This purchase has solidified my thoughts on the matter. I took a leap in hopes that Sony would have done a better job. I have had Sony headsets in the past and enjoyed them.

If the replacement for this unit turns out to be the quality I expected, then this item will get more than 1 egg.

Despite the issues, Newegg performed it's end as expected. Fast processing and shipment.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat sound, can be uncomfortable

Pros: The sound in these headphones is AWESOME for $40, or $80 new at Sony Store. The noise cancelling works great on highway rides, and really silences your surroudings. As I speak, I'm listening to music with heavy bass, and these headphones are great. The bass is also AMAZING with these. I love them!

Cons: The only 2 cons I have are that the battery for the noise cancellation are easy to forget on and that the headphones get uncomfortable after an hour and a half or so, at least for me.

Other Thoughts: I got these new for $40 at the Sony Store, and they were a great deal IMO. I'd recommend these to others!
