2 out of 5 eggsBELKIN: Worst Customer Service EVER!

Pros: Great unit until you need it serviced. I bought a two-year extension (three year total warranty) to ensure coverage on a unit I felt was worth it. Now ONE key has popped off (broken plastic on one side) and I got the runaround for hours on it. I chatted with Belkin support who told me to call customer service. I called customer service who told me to fax my invoice in proving I had a two-year extension on my warranty. I told CS I had no FAX machine and could I have an email address to mail it to. They gave me an address that led nowhere. I again chatted with support who once again told me to call CS. By this time CS was closed for the day and I informed the chat rep that I wanted that email address and to stop having to deal with this since I paid for the extra warranty for a reason. They responded that they didn't have the email address in question and "Why do you want this email address anyway?" This rude rep made ME feel like a criminal for wanting my warranty honored.

Cons: The chat rep then escalated the chat to a "supervisor" at Belkin who told me the same thing the former rep told me. Are you chat people reading off of a script? I asked the supervisor to escalate my issue to a "Senior Level Tech" and have them call me to discuss this issue. The "Senior Level Tech" DID call me. You know what he told me? The very SAME thing that the lowest paid chat tech told me in the beginning. He told me to call Customer Service. REALLY? Belkin, I hope you are paying your "senior" and "low-level" TECHS the same amount of money, because one is just as useless as the next. This will be my last Belkin product EVER. If I can't get support on my products that I purchase warranties on, then there won't be any more purchases of Belkin products. It is quite simple really. People vote with your money. Belkin support is a joke. Service.net warranties are a lie and a joke as well. Don't buy them.

Other Thoughts: Service.net called my key popping off "damage" not covered by my policy although they will cover damages due to electronic or mechanical failure. A key on a keypad IS a mechanical issue. Does anyone there understand the "mechanics" of how a key presses an electronic pad that sends an electrical signal to a computer that tells the computer what you mean to do? This is the most ridiculous thing of all. Why would warranties be allowed on a product that is to be "deactivated" before the warranty even expires. Belkin and Service.net have lost a customer for life. I know you could help if you wanted to, but that is the whole issue here isn't it. You don't really care. That should be your new advertisement. "Belkin...we couldn't care less about you." Service.net...you are just as worthless and even though I have purchased your warranties in the past I won't ever again. NOT HAPPENING! Newegg cared, but couldn't help me. Thanks Newegg for understanding my frustration when I called.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing gamepad

Pros: Okay so I didn't buy it from newegg, and it looks like newegg discontinued it but this thing is amazingly comfortable. I've tried other gamepads before and they just never fit right this one conforms to you, not the other way around.

I know lots of people complain about the software and how the macros aren't very customizable but I don't use that many macros anyway and whatever ones I do use I usually use an ingame editor if it's an MMO.

Each key can be set to do specifically what you want and that works for me.

Cons: D-Pad is a little pointless/useless? At least for moving it is. I felt it was too tricky to work with especially the odd angles (ne,nw,se,sw, ect..) If you're using this for an MMO the D-pad is essentially keyboard turning, and only noobs keyboard turn, so you should still be using the mouse.

The good news is the d-pad can be re-assigned to any other keys or function as well.

Other Thoughts: By the way this thing doesn't stop being used at games. You can assign basic conputer functions to it as well, link it to your media player set it to cut, copy, paste, wheel scroll comes in handy for web surfer. very nice item.

If you get a chance and see it for sale anywhere i strongly recommend picking one up.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat gamepad

Pros: Much better than using keyboard where keys are harder to hit and remember. Quite comfortable.

Cons: D pad could have been designed better. Found switching banks of keys not very convenient. I just use keys that are on one bank. I would have designed the D pad with an indent where your thumb rests.

Other Thoughts: There are 12 keys arranged in a square pattern. I use those as the main control keys. I assign shift and ctrl to the 2 keys furthest right in the first two rows. (These are outside of that square pattern). One user here suggested putting the tip of a rubber finger tip you can get a office supply store over the D pad stick. This works good. I assign alt key to the thumb button and space bar to the space key or key 15 as they label it. This arrangement usually gives you more than enough keys to cover most games. That is basically 48 keys.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: I can play for hours on end and it's just so darn comfy.

Cons: The scroll wheel is in a weird place. Not that one would ever need to use it over the scroll wheel on the mouse, but still. If I were to use it regularly, I can't quite figure out how I'd do so.

Other Thoughts: I use this for FPS games and love it. The controls all make perfect sense and I'm not sure I'll ever go back to using a keyboard again.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control

Pros: Comfortable layout, great concept, good software support, Razer?, LED backlight.

Cons: -Poor quality control. Button 03 on mine has a mushy throw, doesnt "click" like all the other keys, and only activates the keystroke half the time. I cant believe Razer would put their name on this. Very big miss for someone at the factory. Us gamers are strict on our gear (Razer knows that, Belkin doesnt). You gotta make sure every button "clicks" and actually activates the keys, man. Youre killing me here!

Other Thoughts: I dont know how this thing got past quality control. However, it is made in CONJUCTION with Razer and is really a Belkin product. So there probably is no "quality control".

Its a good product. But poor funtionality on even one button ruins the whole reason for buying Razer gear. I personally think Razer should pull their name off this thing. Belkin support was poor when I called. Belkin is dragging Razer through the mud. EJECT RAZER! EJECT!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for gaming on my laptop

Pros: Comfortable, no lag, customizable software (though I think the old version was easier to do macros), can save 3 setups for different players/games.

Cons: Wish the D pad was laying flat under the thumb...hard for me to use, no natural point of refence to keep me lined up on it.

Other Thoughts: Maybe lay the D pad flat and mount it on a springloaded button to push the whole thing down for the "spacebar" on the next version.

5 out of 5 eggsNot much of a learning curve

Pros: Does what it is supposed to with style. The palm grip is slightly adjustable with two positions depending on how you hold it. The software is easy to use. I was a little leary since I havn't used one of these before, but it makes most games so much easier, once you get a little used to it...and you can very quickly change setups if you want to tweak it.

Cons: Light switch is on the bottom which is slightly annoying. The cord could be longer, but a USB extension will work if you need extra room on your setup. I have a Coolermaster HAF-X and have to put it on the right side of my desk...the cord is short enough I have to run it over the desktop when I use it.

3 out of 5 eggsSpeed Pad

Pros: Main buttons very easy to push and very convenient. It is very comfortable.

Cons: Right off the bat I noticed that the directional pad isn't the most convenient. Kinda hard to use to be honest. Wish it was a little less stiff and the diagonal directions were better responding.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am happy after 1 day.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Easy to program, not a big learning curve. Adjusts to fit your hand size. Back lighting is nice when playing in a dark room. Works as advertised!

Cons: Would like the thumb bar to toggle back and forth between say blue and red, not needing to cycle thru all three keysets. Momentary cycle works well.

Other Thoughts: I use this for FPS MW2, BFBC2, CCS, Crysis (all 3), Team Fortress, Mass Effect 2. Also Batman AA, MXvsATV Reflex, Company of Heros. It works perfectly. I really love that it changes profiles whenever you load the game you want to play. I use the thumb key to toggle the keysets from blue to red to green, or to do momentary changes say blue to red for quick additional keys, like for quick weapon choices in BAA or ME2. I found a little trick that makes the D pad feel and respond much better. Of course disable the NE,NW,SE,SW positions and just us N,S,E,W. But this is the cool trick. I took a rubber finger tip with the little prickly things on it, that you can buy from an office supply store, size L. I cut off the very tip of it a slipped it over the D pad "stick". It fit perfectly! This give you some real GRIP on the stick and it makes it so easy to move the D pad. No slipping at all. It sticks to your thumb like it is attached to it, and it feels very comfortable and precise. NICE!
