Belkin's n52te Tournament Edition SpeedPad puts all the gaming features you need at your fingertips, so it's easy to annihilate your foes! With 15 fully-programmable keys and 3 distinct keymaps, you get all the speed you need. The tactile feedback and fast-response keys are built to give you the edge in every situation. The 8-way thumb pad includes a removable joy stick, and is programmable, too.
The built-in wrist rest features a soft-touch surface, and is adjustable to give you comfortable support, even through those marathon sessions. Cool blue backlighting lets you stay in control regardless of low light conditions. A non-skid stability pad keeps the SpeedPad where you want it, so you never have to stop shooting to re-arrange your desktop. When you need a game pad as serious as you are, the Tournament Edition SpeedPad offers all the flexibility you need to crush your competition!
Pros: Very responsive keys (compared to the n52), looks great! Although my con section is longer, I'd still recommend it.
Cons: The biggest con is the software which is "powered by Razer". Not as easy to program (compared to the n52 Array Programming). With the older model, n52, I was able to press a key on it and it would light up on the picture in the programming software- made it very easy to program. The Razer software is extremely unfriendly to use. You also need good eyes to use it. Everything is very small and sometimes difficult to see. My unit rocks slightly which is a common complaint if you visit the n52te community forum.
Other Thoughts: The lighted keys are nice to have, but not necessary IMO. I like the fact on not having to look at the keys I'm pressing, so who needs light? Belkin would have been better off making this great gamepad without Razer's help.

Software Issues

Pros: Fantastic looking unit, well designed and very comfortable. Feels better than the n52. Mechanically, the unit seems very sound.
Cons: The editor is horrible. It is poorly laid out and confusing. Firmware and driver updates became available 2/13. I spent over two hours trying to get the updates done - mostly because there were no instructions - had to ask questions on support community site. The "instruction booklet" that is on disk would not open. Cannot set your own delays in macros like the n52 - only can do preset 50ms, 100ms, 150 ms, 200ms delays. The destroys some funcionality of the unit. The blue backlight on keys is extremely bright and annoying. The whole keypad is backlit (not just individual keys). Would have been very cool if there was just a mild blue backlight for individual keys. At least you can turn this function off.
Other Thoughts: A simple auto-updater for drivers would have been nice. Would not recommend if you want to customize your own macros (unless a software patch comes out). Unit works great otherwise and it is still replacing my n52.

Pros: If you have the original n52 and love it, there is no reason you should not love the n52te as well. Build quality is comparable, the feel is smoother and they fixed the sticky button over the d-pad. Low profile design looks good, but it's not so low that you lose tactile response (as some have suggested, maybe they just have sausage fingers?) If you aren't gaming with one these on a PC, you're really just doing it wrong. Also, it's AMAZING for use with After Effects, Premiere & Photoshop (or whatever you use). Keybinding all your primary functions & tools to the controller makes working in those programs very efficient. And you can save profiles which will switch automatically as you change from one program to another.
Cons: As some have said, the software by "Razor" is a little less well designed than the previous version.... it "looks" slicker, but honestly is a less intuitive. It annoys me that when I push a button on the controller, the software doesn't light up the corresponding button on screen as the old software did. However, not a deal breaker at all. Nothing else really.
Other Thoughts: The Piano Black with blue lights looks much cooler than the gray, black and orange of the original... and it matches my Saitek Eclipse keyboard.

Pros: backlit and the macros are nice... That's about it.
Cons: Not comfortable at all. You can only adjust the palm rest to one other postion. The "space" button is WAY to low and to far back. You basically have to take your fingers completely off the keys to push it.
Other Thoughts: don't waste your money on this thing. If you have the money to burn, just buy a really kick *** keyboard or something.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I've upgraded from the n50 to the n52 and now to this n52TE and I can assure you this controller is much improved over its predecessors. First off, the software is more advanced in that you can macro in mouse clicks, right, center and left clicks may be added to your macro now. Also this software has a different layout, but it's fairly simple to adapt to if you're familiar with the original n52 software. Quick swaps between profiles is also a nice addition and it still has all of it's old features like channel changing on the fly, custom macros, key bindings etc. Another positive is the buttons. They're a bit slimmer and much easier to press. I'm not sure what other reviewers were talking about when they said that they were harder to press. Also on the old N52 the "orange circled button" was a bit flaky, but not on this one. It's really much easier and more responsive. The look of this thing is really sharp. Black with the blue LED looks very nice. Very pleased with this upgrade.
Cons: (Using this space for additional text) It seems to me like the keys are not only easier to press but they're more responsive. Some of the older keys, you were required to really push until you felt a soft "click". Not with this controller. I felt it necessary to write a really early review because once you get use to something you forget some of the fresh, new features. I wanted to give an accurate review of how I viewed it right out of the box and having been using the original n52 for over a year. Ah, one last note. The software drivers installed perfectly on Windows 7 64-bit. I loaded the disc, some have said that Windows Updates picked it up. It requires a reboot after install and it took about 20 minutes to learn. So glad I ignored the bad reviews and gave this thing a shot.
Other Thoughts: This is the polished version of the n52. I was a bit skeptical due to the $$ amount and the fact that the reviews were mediocre compared to the original n52, but I couldn't be happier. One major concern was that people were complaining that the D-Pad which is some what changed was a real screw up compared to the original n52. After about 5 minutes of toying with it, I realized you can take the extra bump-pad (if you will) off of the D-Pad making it exactly like it was on the original n52. Just pull directly towards you and it releases. After you remove it, go into the (now by Razer) software and right click the extra 4 directional keys and set them to "disable button" located at the bottom. This should fix any issues you might have there. Mine works flawlessly. Lastly, if you're not familiar with the n52 then I can tell you that this is the controller you're looking for. I've tested several and am 100% sold on Belkin's N50+ series. The "TE" is just more advanced in every way. 5 egggggs
