3 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: Good overall sound quality, great bass and an above average mid range and treble. Fits comfortably with good padding. Good price point*.

Cons: The vibration function takes some getting used to, but is potentially very cool. Sadly mine developed a static sound when the vibration function was active about a year into ownership.

For some reason when I plug mine into a USB 3.0 slot it doesn't sound quite the same. Kind of like the speakers were blown. However when I plug it back into a 2.0 slot all is well again. I have no idea why this is, and it may be something else with my rig, so take it for what you will.

I've had this headset since December 2012 and it's started to develop a bit of a problem in the wiring somewhere, because when the cable attached to the headset is resting at certain angles it sounds like there is a loose connection somewhere.

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for $35. At that price I would easily recommend it to anyone looking for a gaming headset on a budget. At its current price of $50 I would not.

1 out of 5 eggsMic dead barely after a month

Pros: Comfy.

Cons: Mic dead BARELY after a month, hardly used as I was traveling for three weeks of the duration of the ownership of the headset. Not appeased.

Other Thoughts: Wish this died a few days ago so I could return it!

4 out of 5 eggsI like them.

Pros: Good Value paired with excellent sound quality.
Surprisingly durable.
Vibe function works well when playing with explosives.
Lengthy cord.
The lights on the control pad come in handy.

Cons: Mic could transmit a bit clearer.
Vocal cancellation function affects sound quality.
I had to remove and reattach the mic due to transmission issues.
Software required for all features to work.

Other Thoughts: Better for gaming and watching livestreams.
Mic can be wonky without Voice Cancellation.
When listening to music, Vibe function will take the Bass to the foreground and make some songs sound awkward.
The control pad can become heated at times.

5 out of 5 eggsExplosive sound Great price

Pros: The sound quality is amazing. Went to retail store and some turtle beach headsets were on display. Even the $149 pair was junk compaired to these. These Rosewell pair has crisp hd sound and extremely hi quality base. These are like 3D sound because of the awesome vibration.

Cons: There are 3 base/vibration settings. Off/medium/high. The explosiveness on high setting is sometimes to much. Im good with medium setting.

Other Thoughts: Didnt try the mic yet

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound from this headset, you can boot the bass considerably high without any distortion of the higher frequencies. This can be credited to the vibration, which is basically the same feeling as force-feedback in a controller. With default configuration this is a mediocre headset, but with some tweaking it becomes incredible, I don't think I could own a headset that did not have this vibrating feature after experiencing it.
Build wise the quality seems quite high, very solid, heavy plastic. I frequently wear a ballcap with my headset, it is extremely comfortable with, and without.

Cons: The microphone isn't very good, Teamspeak is generally "good enough" but with most in-game voice chats it is useless, CounterStrike especially. Changing the physical microphone offered no improvement. Because the microphone can unplug from the headset, gravity can cause it to rotate downward, tape may be required to keep it in position.

Other Thoughts: I give this product 4 eggs only because of the extremely impressive sound, I'm a self proclaimed BassHead. If the sound was average I would give it 2, maybe 3 eggs due to the microphone failing in most situations.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Nice sound, almost comfortable, not bad value...but expect a little more quality out of a $50 headset.

Cons: 2 serious issues: Mic goes bad, Headset can't be made small enough

Other Thoughts: The mic on my first one broke shortly before the 1 year warranty expired and rosewill customer service was excellent and replaced it for me at no cost.

The mic on my replacement set is not completely broken but has developed very loud feedback after about 6 months.

This seems to be a common problem for this headset.

It's slightly too large even on the smallest headband setting.

While it worked it was great, however it seems to be a common theme that the mics are flawed on these.

Just bought a $100 wireless set up because the cord is also somewhat annoying, hopefully for double the price I get something that lasts twice as long as this thing did.

Overall I will still buy rosewill products, but I am somewhat dissapointed this thing didn't hold up better.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing for the price, but have a back up mic

Pros: Got these things a little over two years ago and they are still kicking strong to this day.

Great sound quality from these guys, great directional sound for gaming and the the bass vibration is perfect on the first setting.

Blocks out quite a bit of outside noise to the point that roommates would have to yell at me or pat me on the shoulder to get my attention.

Mic worked decently with little to no background noise and I enjoyed the option to unplug/plug in the mic at will until it broke.

Very durable. Has survived being dropped repeatedly, multiple moves back and forth from college and home and the cable has survived constantly being caught in my chair wheels (simple fix would be to not have computer on the floor next to your chair)

Comfortable for decent amounts of use 3-4 hours.
The wire length is nice to have for configuration options and the in wire controls are nice and easy to use.

Cons: The mic is my main issue and was many users' issue when i ordered it. The mic had some difficulty staying at the angle I wanted and kept rotating in its socket (didn't affect the mic volume or quality, just annoying) and eventually the mic jack ripped out of the headphones and severed the soldering to the wires while trying to remove the mic to pack it up. The jack seemed to be held in by nothing more than hot glue or something similar. Possibly an easy fix if you know how to solder and have some super glue.

If you have large ears or plan on using these for more than 3 hours (like I do) then be prepared for some slight ear discomfort, though nothing extreme.

(possible con for others) The inline controls are at an odd spot if you run your wires under the desk and will hang adding slight weight onto your left ear. Velcro taping it to a comfortable spot on the desk or your chair is recommended.

The bass vibration setting on max will make these things rattle and lessen audio quality. Very similar to having a 360 controller vibrating on your head any time the slightest amount of bass kicks in.

Does feel cheap

Other Thoughts: This pair of headphones beats out a lot of the competition in most categories.

might bother some but didn't bother me is that the in line volume buttons change the system volume instead of being independent.

would be five stars if the mic construction was better and if the ear cups were slightly larger.

1 out of 5 eggsGood for a Day

Pros: It was amazing when it worked, for the first day, vibration was awesome, mic worked well.

Cons: Crackled on the first day until nothing but static could be heard, entirely broken.

Other Thoughts: How can such poor craftsmanship go into a pair of $60 headphones?

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Impression

Pros: First impression - AWESOME

After getting the drivers installed (more on that below) I was ready to put these on and blast some noise through them. They are very loud! But the sound quality seems great to me, but I was using a cheap 6 or 7 year old Logitech USB headset that I got for like $12 new. So this is probably a pretty big step up. The vibration function is really cool, and only works after installing the driver. It has 3 settings, off, low, and high. And basically it vibrates with the bass of the subwoofer. It's a tough thing to describe, and I would have thought I would turn it off all the time, but first impression made me feel more immersed, so it's got that going for it. Other than a Windows test, I haven't tested the mic at all, and I've only watched part of a movie in 5.1 Surround to test the sound, which was pretty epic in my opinion.

I'm not an audiophile by any means, but to me the sound is great out of the box. The software seems to have a LOT of options to customize it, with preset equalizers, custom settings, and even other special effects.

The headset itself is super comfy, the ear pads are great, and even fit nicely with my glasses on. They don't push down on my glasses in an uncomfortable way like my old headset did, and the large cushions help insulate the sound and make for a better listening experience.

The headstrap is also great, very adjustable, nice leather pad around it. And the ear pads can be folded up into the pad, or they can be rotated 90 degrees to lay flat, which is great for my laptop bag.

Cons: Okay, first con.

The drivers were a little tricky to install on my Windows 8 machine. I had to run them in compatibility mode for it to even run, and even then I thought it was going to fail because it took FOREVER to install. Luckily it worked once I did that, and the software seems to run fine.

The mic is on the left, it'll take some getting used to as my old headset was on the right. (personal preference)

The ear pieces only rotate 90 degrees in one direction. So you can fold them flat, but only one way. So if you need them to tilt a little bit more in the opposite directions for comfort, they don't. They only fold flat towards the back, not the front. But this wasn't an issue for me, as the padding made them really comfortable and I didn't need them tilted to fit right, but others may have an issue.

Lastly, the control box. For some reason I thought it had separate controls for game volume and chat volume. I have not tested it yet, but from what I can tell from the box itself and the tiny bit of instructions, it does not do this. Not a huge con, but a very slight disappointment.

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale with a 20% off promo coupon, and I had $30 worth of promo gift cards as well. So I ended up paying about $17 for this headset. For that price? Best headset ever! I can't complain about some of the cons for that price. If I had paid full price, I MIGHT have knocked off a single egg. But from my little bit of testing, I highly recommend this headset even at full price.

I'll probably pick up another one for my wife when I get a chance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset for a reasonable price

Pros: Absolutely amazing Sound.
Mic is precisely well balanced.
Well done material.

Cons: So far None, but i used my front USB 3 port every time i would open an application it would stop for sec, Then I plugged it in to my back USB 3 port. Ever since no lags.

Other Thoughts: Over All guys if you are looking for some affordable USB 5.1 sound headset. These are not bad, especially vibration makes it sound better. Software makes the sound go even more clear. You wont regret if you buy it.
