3 out of 5 eggsHit and miss.

Pros: It's a very comfortable mouse and the button layouts are great, the adjustment wonderful and the DPI is more than enough for just about anything.

Cons: Cheap parts/Cheaply made. This is my second product of theirs. This one has lasted me about 8 months now and two buttons are failing on me. The other one was a RAT7 that lasted me a couple years(So that one I'm not really complaining about).

Other Thoughts: I love the product, however I will be going with a different make due to the history of durability I've had with the product. It's a hit or miss kind of thing, seemingly with a lot more misses. I know a few other people suffering the same history with this mice.

3 out of 5 eggsVery Nice configurable Mouse...but...

Pros: Highly configurable, very user friendly with a slight learning curve

Cons: It will take you some time to tweak it "Just Right", but once you have it, it will feel excellent in your hand.

Tech Support absolutely sucks.
Scroll Wheel started jumping in the opposite direction about 5 months into ownership, still no response from Mad Catz Support several weeks later.

Other Thoughts: When it works, this mouse is great.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing HID

Pros: I have been using this mouse for about four months now, every day. The MMO7 has been absolutely amazing. The programming software allows setting two different bindings for each button, for each of the three modes. The assortment of buttons can be intimidating at first, though with a little use and adjustment they quickly feel very natural. At first the mouse does feel a little odd; playing with it, adjusting it, and playing some more will help to get it in just the right spot.

I use the MMO7 in conjunction with a Belkin n52te, and I have more buttons than I need to ensure I only have to touch the keyboard for chat while playing WoW. This is with only using ONE of the three pages configurable on the mouse. The other two pages are set as keys for desktop usage and D3. This allows me to have a single profile, and just tap the mode button when changing applications. This allows easily keeping use of the 'forward + back' functions for browsing the web, while using those same buttons for functions in game.

The Mode selector near the index finger is not configurable. This button is positioned so that it angles toward the finger for easier use, though the button itself changes color to mark the active mode. The light is bright enough to light up the side of your finger in a semi-dark area, though it can be hard to tell which mode you are in during a game. This is the reason I use the modes for different programs, rather than all in the same program. The button is rather stiff, and nearly impossible to accidentally press, helping out for this particular usage.

The button on the right hand side acts as a shift button, and is also not configurable. This button allows the use of the secondary binding of any of the other keys while it is held. This button is very useful once learned; I press it with the end of my ring finger, and use my pinky to grab the back of the 'wing' side panel.

The DPI button below the scroll wheel is not configurable either, and only progresses up through the four settings. The current DPI setting is denoted by a group of four LED's near the index finger. These settings are configurable in the programming software, as well as the option to separately set the X + Y attributes. Beyond having the four programmable DPI configurations, the center button on the thumb-stick defaults to halving the DPI. This reduction is also programmable.

The 'action-lock' buttons ARE configurable with the latest programming software, bringing the total to 15 counting scroll-wheel down and thumb-scroll. With the shift button this makes 30 configurable buttons without even changing to one of the other three modes. The thumb-wheel seemed to be in an awkward position at first, but after the configuration and hand position is learned, it is rather nice.

The build quality is great. A steel undercarriage and the adjustable weights give a very low center of gravity. The upper plastics do not feel cheap, and lower overall weight for effortless move

Cons: The current profile is not stored in any type of on-board memory module. The software MUST be running to allow use of any button customization. I had gotten very used to this feature of the n52te, and was rather disappointed that the MMO7 did not incorporate it. The software is lean, but it would be nice to be able to connect to another computer while retaining my profile, without having to install the software on the other machine as well.

The software does not seem to have an option for loading a specific profile at boot time either. I remember being disappointed when I first got it, but got used to checking if the profile was loaded when changing off the default 'red' mode. I thought that it started loading automatically for awhile, but I just reinstalled with a fresh download of the software, and it is gone again, if it was ever there at all.

I was disappointed that the mode indicator was integrated into the mode button. The current mode is hard to distinguish without deliberately moving to look. Even on the backside of that particular protrusion would seem to make better sense, as it would be shining toward you and down, rather than away. Since I change the modes only when changing applications, this is not a large concern though.

Other Thoughts: I would have docked an egg for the lack of integrated memory for storing the current profile, but perhaps the n52te has just spoiled me in that regard. Most devices certainly do not store their configuration on-board, so I decided to leave it. That is the main thing that I feel the MMO7 is lacking.

I decided to give it 5 eggs anyway because I know feel it is a 'must have' for my gaming experience. I absolutely love how well it compliments and balances with the n52te in my other hand. I am not exaggerating when I claim to only use the regular keyboard for chat while in WoW, and I am not a clicker either. Between the n52te and the MMO7, I have many more buttons than I need to ensure I can cast any spell or skill, or open any informational windows, all with my hands in their default positions.

I have never had tracking problems with the MMO7, and all of the buttons still feel sharp and responsive after four months of use. I would not hesitate to buy it again, except mine still looks and works as well as when it first came out of the box. The finish does not even show a hint of wear.

If you are still thinking about buying this mouse, then go ahead and get it already, you will not be disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsvertical tracking drops out

Pros: Ergonomic, lots of buttons

Cons: Vertical tracking drops out

Other Thoughts: Roughly one month after purchasing this mouse, the vertical tracking started to drop out. I didn't even notice this at first, but it became more prevalent and unusable as time passed. Basically, this mouse dies in the middle of gaming/general usage for no reason. There is no correlation to what surface you are using the mouse on; it simply dies and does not work.

I have contacted tech support and am hoping for a resolution (new mouse). This mouse worked beautifully for the first few weeks, but it has me looking for a replacement already after having just purchased it months ago.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Gaming Mouse I have owned yet!

Pros: LOTS of different ways to program
Looks awesome
Interchangeable buttons for style/preference

Cons: Layout will take getting used to at first (hit buttons by mistake)

Other Thoughts: I have read mixed reviews on this mouse and my experience has been nothing but positive. I will say when I first got the mouse that I wasn't so sure. I am not used to all the side buttons and did hit a button or two at first.
The software actually allows you to de-activate certain buttons if you wish. That is what I did just to fit my style. If you don't use the software, you are not doing justice to this mouse. Once I got in and used the software along with my game(s) (GW2)... wow... big difference!
I have now owned this mouse for over a week and it already fits my hand just fine. I don't hit the wrong buttons anymore and have learned to use it and be more precise at my gaming!

5 out of 5 eggsBest mouse I've ever used

Pros: This is easily the most comfortable, responsive, and customizable mouse I have ever used. I've finally upgraded from my Logitech Performance MX and I couldn't be happier. It took a while to adjust to the sleeker, lower-profile design of the mouse, but after a week of using it, I've noticed my wrist hurts a lot less.

Simple amazing build quality. Responsive controls and tracking on every surface (mousepad, textured wood desk, leather couch, cloth couch, etc). Highly customizable button configuration.

Cons: The only con I can see is that the separate customized ergonomics are a little too similar and don't offer a huge range of grip options. Not that big of a deal, just a heads up.

Other Thoughts: ...Wish it could be wireless...

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT!!!

Pros: This is customizable in every way possible; multiple grips, adjustable length, weight, buttons, everything. I thought I would have some trouble getting used to the mouse, but by the end of my first day it felt just like my old mouse and was perfect.

Cons: The scroll wheel is a bit stiff sometimes, but other than that I have no problems and love this mouse.

4 out of 5 eggsLots of bad press for this mostly misunderstood mouse.

Pros: Lots of buttons, and so far all are programmable in every mmo I have tried. The downloadable profiles give a lot of versatility right out of the box, and the lock buttons are now programmable after downloading the updater tool from Cyborg to disable them. After that you are actually getting two more buttons than advertised.

Cons: The only con I have experienced is in creating a profile from scratch. All the tools are there, and everything except the shift button on the right side is programmable, but as evidenced in other reviews here it is frustrating for people who don't read and follow the instructions, or are not very tech savvy.

This is why I have removed one egg, as I am viewing this as a review for an everyday user. Solely based on my own experience of carefully reading and learning the setup while waiting for it to arrive I would give it a full five stars though.

Other Thoughts: All the negatives that initially made me hesitate to order this mouse have turned out to be mainly due to user incompetence or unwillingness to read the instructions.

The WoW addon does work, but only if you select the MMO 7_WoW addon profile from the presets. Without the proper profile selected it can't work ingame because in most situations the lua coding for it to trigger a specific ability would be bound completely wrong making it impossible for the profile itself to communicate with the ingame addon.

The lock buttons, which did indeed prove to be a pain and trigger accidentally a lot, are now disabled by an updater and bindable as two bonus buttons.

If you are not a patient and inexperienced person, this is not the mouse for you. If you are a min/max perfectionist like me, looking to to get the most bang for the buck and willing to take an hour to actually learn the product, set it up right and update it to full functionality then I cannot recommend this mouse highly enough.

That seems to have addressed user error, if it fails or stops working I will edit or re-review this product.
