5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound

Pros: The Best audio quality in a pair of IEMs you can buy. The triple driver system delivers crisp quality highs and reverberating lows but the mids are where it really SHINES.
The preferred triple flange tip is horribly proficient at it's job. So much so, that I don't wear both sides if I'm biking or walking on the streets. Even on low volume, you won't hear ANYTHING else!
It's so good, it's dangerous.

Cons: Not fully modular.
The cord system comes in separate sections and, at first, feels solid. But as time goes on it reveals itself to be brittle and prone to splits and a tendency for loose connections resulting in bad static.
The wiring around the ear is also bad, it came loose after about 1.5 years of use. Not surprising considering it's brittle plastic that you're constantly wrapping around your ear.
After another year of that the wire apparently became damaged enough that the IEM's stopped working in one and then the other bud.

Other Thoughts: Let the drivers warm up from use for about 30 hours before assessing. Out of the box they start out a bit TOO crisp and tinny but warm up right around 30-35 hours.

for 300, I expected a bit more build quality. From what I understand, the new SE535's are the exact same thing, but modular around the ears with additional shielding. Basically, EXACTLY what these needed.

My se530's are dead now. But I still constantly have flights of fancy about just paying that 160 to have them repaired by Shure.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Sound

Pros: I'm no audiophile but these headphones are outstanding. They make the train a walk in the park, a walk to the train more a stroll through the living room and at home, the silence really is bliss.

Cons: These really do isolate you from the world. I have no concept of what is going on around.

The wires are a bit short but the extension cable really is a quality build.

Other Thoughts: Might pick up an extra set for my girlfriend.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth Every Penny

Pros: These are probably the best earphones you can buy (aside from custom fitted ones). I received mine a few days ago, and have been nothing but impressed.

Build Quality:
These earphones are built very well. They are extremely light and don't feel weak in any area.

These feel very nice. I've been using the medium-sized foam tips. They maintain a fantastic seal, and are great for lengthy listening sessions. As long as they seal correctly, I can't see them ever falling out of my ears.

Sound Quality:
I knew they'd sound better than my previous Sony MDR-EX71 earphones, but I didn't realize they'd sound this much better. The SE530's are very neutral and balanced, and have incredible clarity. These earphones have incredible staging. You can really distinguish the locations the sounds are coming from. I've even looked around to see if someone was in the room. I can tell differences between lossless audio and 320 kbps .mp3's. My lossless quality vinyl rip's now sound better th

Cons: I have only a minor complaint. It feels like you're going to break the earphones when you change tips. You really have to pull to get them off, and you really have to push to get them on all the way.

Yes, the price is a tad high, but I bought mine on sale. Besides, if you look around the internet, you can often buy these for closer to $300 anytime you want. I don't consider the price a con at all.

Other Thoughts: I haven't listened to too many high end headphones, but I'd like to think I know what to listen for when comparing different audio qualities.

I've been comparing 4000 kbps 32-bit lossless audio, 800 kbps 24-bit lossless audio, 320 kbps 16-bit mp3's, and 128 16-bit kbps mp3's. You can distinguish the differences between each of these.

These headphones can easily be driven from a portable MP3 Player. I often find myself using volume settings lower than that of my preview noise isolating headphones because of how well the SE530's seal up and isolate noise.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound

Pros: They are possibly the best sounding canal earbuds....I have had 4s, tried many other higher end earbuds (including etymotic 6is) previously and these have the best high and low frequency performance of any I have seen! The soft foamy isolators are very comfortable, better than their other various previous options for my ears. Sound isolation is amazing....probably not good for running or bike riding because you hear little else than the music. On an airplane they make QUIET!

Cons: $$

Other Thoughts: With the Cowon products you get a flac, mp3, etc sound that is outstanding...

5 out of 5 eggsNext best to UE-10 Pros

Pros: The sound quality is amazing I like them because you don't get the distortion you get with regular diaphragm headphones, That plus the triple drivers means you hear absolutely every detail so you must use a high bit rate if not lossless or you will hear the compression errors, they have a very balanced bass response and the treble is very crisp but not brassy. They are very comfortable with the foam tips I could listen to them for hours not so much with the silicone ones.

Cons: Hard to remove the foam tips I felt like i was going to break the nozzles off, wish the cables would be able to detach from the headphones like Ultimate ears and of course the cost but are well worth it.

Other Thoughts: You have to use high bit rates it is an absolute must.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: Bar none, the best cans i've ever owned. The triple driver system delivers just what it claims, perfect, true to a live performance sound. The highs are perfect, the mids are incredible, the bass is balanced with performance quality. They do not distort no matter how high the volume and the included foam inserts are comfortable for >8hours (personally tested :)) and very apt to block most ambient sound, provided you have a good seal. The cord is far more durable than it should be and the included volume attenuator is very convenient. Also, if you have the extra $50, get the version with the PTH (Push to Hear). It is a modular microphone input system that let's you hear without removing your well placed foam inserts. It is well worth it and works wonderfully.

Cons: absolutely none

Other Thoughts: They are expensive, as I'm sure most will pass because of. But if you can, afford them. You'll never need another set again. A cheap set will not in any way compare. Hope this helped.
