5 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews on these great pair of cans. I'm using vista on a laptop and wanted to have a portable 5.1 surround sound. The surround sound works very well. Did the other reviewers bother to check thier settings in windows and using the axpc drivers? If you can't hear 5.1 in game (I'm using these for L4D) then you have not set them up properly.

Real 5.1 surround sound.
Can hear directional ques way better than a stereo set.
Great looking and comfortable cans.
From what I hear, Tritton support works just fine (they speak english! and will RMA if needed and in a timley manner).
The mike works great in game and in vent. It was actually too loud in vent and had to adjust my settings.
These headphones are loud if you want them to be.
Exceeds my expectations at $69 bucks.

Cons: Can't go back to a standard stereo set.

Other Thoughts: I've had many pairs of 5.1 headphones (headsets).
These work and feel better than most all of them.
The drivers are a bit old but they work and thats all I need.
There are a lot of speakers in sets of true 5.1 headphones. Don't toss them around!

2 out of 5 eggsA pain to set up

Pros: Excellent bass and sound with music.

Cons: Gaming. This is where the headset starts to fail. The directional audio is almost non existent. If an object is behind you, chances are you wont hear it. the mic was a pain to set up and when it decided to work, the quality was horrible. even with mic boost, i was still too quiet.
took forever to set up and when you thought everything was working properly, another issue would pop up, be it Team speak not picking up your voice, or noises in game coming in the wrong ear or not at all.

Other Thoughts: i did not buy this through new egg (another retailer) but i thought i should write this review as a buyer beware.
I used onboard sound with this, with an ASUS board so maybe thats an issue.
It could be that a created X-FI card is needed to get 100% out of if but in my opinion, you are better off getting another headset

2 out of 5 eggsGreat sound but...

Pros: Great sound, catches most highs and low, when not crashing the games does great in most fps's

Cons: DRIVERS....they are still at 1.0 and doesn't sound like they have plans to fix them. There are known issues with several top games including WOW that cause BSOD and game crashes. I have also had the head set replaced twice from the mic dieing. But tech support at tritton was nice and had them replaced both times.

Other Thoughts: The version with the stereo jacks are great and would recomend them any day but driver support for these is just bad.

3 out of 5 eggsEh, could be better

Pros: Very Comfortable, Cable Length was long enough Sound quality was par for games and great for movies. Mic was great quality. Rugged built.

Cons: Power issues, pops and sometimes with me shocked me. It also causes my system to reboot or crash my games. But when going back to my old headsets they work flawless.

1 out of 5 eggsHow Good is TRITTON? These say they're bad

Pros: The sound quality was pretty darn good when it worked.

Cons: Playing online games, starting them up would cause the headphones to become static, the microphone would become static or too low or too loud on Teamspeak or Ventrilo. I would 90% of the time need to leave game, then rejoin a game for the headset to fix itself.

TRITTON drivers did absolutely nothing ... was completel garbage! Turned around and took a loss selling them for like $25 online.

Other Thoughts: I plan on trying out the AX Pro's, hopefully they won't be as bad as the AXPC. For now, I am using Turtle Beach and think it is a much better headset than this AXPC. The sound quality isn't as good, but at least it works all the time.

3 out of 5 eggs2nd review

Pros: Well, to be honest. other than driver issues and other little problems(prior to now). these were one heck of a headset..

Cons: well about 4 months ago, the mic stopped working all together. now the subwoofer on them wont work at all. after finer inspection. i noticed that the cabling and the insulator was pulling away from the USB controller Box. without opening it, it is impossible to re-insert the the cables snugly back into the box. Tritton Refuses to replace/fix them, so im stuck out of luck.

Other Thoughts: Im most likely, going to open the USB controller box, slide back in the wires, check the solders. fix the solders if the mic/subwoofer cables are broken. if not, i will probally run higher gauge wire. and re-solder my self. as that is one of the issues i experienced with this product.

Also, works best with linux ;)

1 out of 5 eggsGood Headset, bad microphone

Pros: Has nice and clear 3d audio, very noticeable on games like Counterstrike and other FPS games.

- Good tech support

Cons: The mic was horrible. I use ventrilo regularly and people could never hear me clearly and complained about my mic. I tested this unit on various PCs and got the same results. I contacted Triton about it and they quickly shipped me a replacement microphone piece, however this never resolved the problem.

- Pleather ear pads make you sweat

Other Thoughts: Perhaps I got a lemon, I'm currently in the process of requesting an RMA on the actual unit. As a whole, I think that Triton is a good company, that puts out some innovative devices.

Triton has reasonably good support and does get back to you quickly, they do answer their phones and you get someone that speaks English as their first language.

While waiting on my RMA, I decided to purchase a Steel Series 5H v2 (Non USB) gaming headset. This product works flawlessly and is very comfortable. At this point in time, I'd recommend it over the Triton Headphones. Not to mention the overall comfort of the Steel Series is superior.

5 out of 5 eggsKiller Surround Sound.

Pros: Works as advertised. Comfortable. Really clear and full Surround Sound. Hearing all the directional sounds really improves my gaming...not to mention being able to hear all the cool ambient sounds I never noticed before. Even though I don't use the mic very often, when I do, it works great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Highly Recommended! Great Value for what you get from this headset.
