3 out of 5 eggsBait & Switch?

Pros: - Comfortable for larger ear and head types.
- Audio and mic sound excellent when they are working properly.

Cons: - Heavy, although still comfortable after a few hours of gaming, be aware that these are very heavy.

Other Thoughts: My issues with this headset is more with the company MadCatz than the headphones themselves, hence only 3 eggs.

I initially purchased this headset because it was PC compatible and offered TWO output devices, USB, and Optical. I utilized both outputs for nearly a year, then the plastic on the left ear cup broke and was hanging by the wire. I was treated with excellent customer service and offered an RMA.

The PROBLEM is that the headset they sent me was no longer the same model and not compatible with PC. The USB audio output no longer functioned. I was informed that the model I purchased no longer existed for US customers, and even EU customers are sold a packaged that contains an analog adapter.

So if you are purchasing this headset for the dual audio output (USB for Skype, Optical for Game), be aware that you will not receive what you get.

3 out of 5 eggsreview after 10 months of ownership

Pros: This is a awesome sounding headset the audio quality is among the best that i have heard in this price range.
Lots of connectors and accessories for whatever your hooking it up to.
Feels well built. (at first)
Comfortable (at least to me) the swivel ear pieces and adjustable headband makes it seem it would work for just about anybody's head.
Mic is detachable

Cons: Little on the heavy side (doesn't bug me and kinda expected for this kinda of headset)
Price (only reason i say this is cus of what happen, read other thoughts)
"not for PC use" which you can still use on PC
Tritton (madcatz) Tech support is poor
Mic is detachable

Other Thoughts: When this headset was new it's very good the sound is one of the best in class imo. It feels very sold with a good wight to it. I used the headset on PS3 and PC. I found it easy to set up on PS3 and somewhat of a challenge on PC, note i suggest you have a 5.1 surround sound card or have it built onto the Motherboard, even if you motherboard supports Dolby Digital most games movies etc will play in Pro Logic 2.
THE MAIN PROBLEM
I believe i took very good care of this headset after paying so much money for it. Still after about ~3 months of daily use the mic slowly stopped working. I could write three pages about there tech support in short it took me 2 months to get a new mic. Two months later i was having mic problems again but this time it's the connector in the headset has come lose. Overall the whole headset has become very lose at all the joints and connectors and the ear pieces rattle with bass playing. just disappointing that after $150 i am back to my $20 Logitech headse

2 out of 5 eggsWhile it works it's great.

Pros: The sound was awesome, I had it plugged into my computer using the PS3 configuration mostly. no need for the optical audio adapter tho.
Great bass ,Fantastic microphone, loud It hurt my ears to max out my music ,and Comfortable it's like wearing a pillow on your head.

Cons: Like I said in the title, the microphone cable in the main cord must have broken somewhere. It wasn't sending any signal to my PC whatsoever. It worked fine on the Xbox 360 due to the fact that the mic plugs into the xbox controller and doesn't go through the long main wire.

However I wouldn't trust the wire at all it feels extremely week and the wires seemed thin because the cord would bend like rubber.

For this I'm taking off 3 eggs, this was my only problem with this headset.

I am not one to mistreat my electronic devices to me they're gold.

Other Thoughts: Great headset, but it's only surround sound with fake 5.1 digital sillyness, i thought it was 5.1 acoustic when I bought it.

if you want surround sound ether go for a nice Logitech speaker set, I'd also recommend their G35 headset (just picked it up today and the cord is nice and stiff :D) Time will tell.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing headset! Great surround!

Pros: Stellar sound quality! The headset by itself, as a PC or mp3 headset just sounds great. But the AX720 mini-amp with an optical input using Dolby 5.1 from Xbox or PC is unreal. The virtual surround is phenomenal. If you spin yourself around the sound seems to be exactly where it out to be coming from relative to your angle to it. Gives me a completely unfair advantage in Xbox gaming, constantly being accused of cheating when I whip around in MW2 to shoot the footsteps behind me. Positional audio is so good it's clear if they're behind you to your left or right.

Integrates excellently with PC as well. I've paired this with the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II USB optical output to get digital out from my laptop and the USB mic/optical out combo set up and performed just like on the Xbox, all inline controllers worked as they should. Sound in BF3 is blowing me away now compared to using the headset without the mini-amp.

Cons: Cable for Xbox Live mic is finicky and has to be in just the right spot to not crackle, might improve with a better 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable. But never bothered me enough to try.

Other Thoughts: Bought this headset over 2 years ago for MW2 on Xbox and since have used it for everything, movies, Xbox 360, PC gaming, music and it's still in as good of shape as the day I bought it and still impresses me with the sound quality and 3D positional audio. TAKE CARE of your gear and it will last! Well worth the cost!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat product... BUT

Pros: The overall build quality is much higher then I expected. They are solid and comfy. The sound quality is fantastic for doing whatever. Listening to music, playing CoD, or even WoW and chatting on Vent.

Cons: I have had this headset for about 8 months now, primarily using it on my xbox 360. There are a couple issues here. The inline connector for volume and the chat cable to plug into is HEAVY. Granted it has all of the switches and volume rollers but it feels as if the connector is pulling on the headset. Also the cable that runs to the controller for chatting is poorly made. In the time frame of having the headset it has gone bad... This is where my rant starts. 5... FIVE emails later to get another cable sent to me or even ordered I have yet to hear back from Tritton/MadCatz. This is completely unacceptable. I had to order the cable off of E*** for $12 plus shipping... It is almost impossible to find being that it is is a 2.5mm - 3.5mm and NO ADAPTER will cut it. Doesn't work. Have to have the correct cable

Other Thoughts: Other then the customer service being nonexistent the product is good. I would recommend them to anyone that wants one of the best sounder headsets under $150

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have been using these for about 9 or so months now as my brother has not needed them for his Playstation anymore and I must say, these are stellar headphones.
-The Sound is phenomenal
-Comfort around the ear and on top of the head is amazing. Have never owned such a comfy pair of headphones. Most headphones require me to take out my earrings, did not need to with these.
-Plastic feels sturdy, even having dropped them to the floor several times, nothing has broken.
-Compatible with PC and Xbox/PS

Cons: -Honestly none that I can think of. Other have complained of Microphone problems, but I regularly remove mine and never have any problems.

Other Thoughts: Just to clarify, I have been continuously using these headphones all day everyday. I am quite the hardcore gamer, so the usage has not been light by any standard.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's okay

Pros: The sound has very good quality and the base is decent. It is comfortable for your ears but when it gets sweaty especially during the summer time. Other than that mic quality is good (from what my friends hear).

Cons: had this Mic for about 3 months and the Mic is starting to mess up on me. I have to position it in a certain way in order for the mic to be on. I am pretty disappointed about it because it's hard for me to communicate with others if I have to keep moving the mic back and forth in order for it to work everytime I talk. The clip that is attached on the cord broke off easily.

Other Thoughts: I do recommend this product for X-Box gamers, but careful for the mic.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat While It Lasts

Pros: Comfortable
Excellent sound quality
Very clear
Detachable microphone

Cons: Terrible customer service.
Microphone doesn't work

Other Thoughts: This headset is purely awesome until it stops working correctly. After a year, the microphone stopped working. Apparently, this is a very common problem with Tritton across quite a few of their headsets. I contacted customer service and they didn't respond to my second set of emails. Then, several months later, I did get a replacement microphone from Tritton but it was DOD. I'm going to contact them again in hopes that they will send me another replacement microphone. You're better off getting the Razer headset.

Two eggs simply because the sound quality is so good.
