4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy, But glad there is a warranty

Pros: HUGE ear cups with lots of space makes them comfortable for hours. They fit rather tightly this can be a good and bad thing at first, good because they arent going to slip if you tilt your head to take a swig of water or something, but they can feel a little uncomfortable for a while being so tight until they break in to your heads unique shape (about a month or so if you wear them an hour or so a day) less if you have super nerd 4-6 hr sessions a day like me :). The Audio is very crisp and clear without distortion at high volumes. 50mm sterio drivers are pretty hard to find too, most gaming headsets and phones are generally 30mm, and the larger the driver, the wider your soundscape. The ability to break these down for travel is also nice, although i rarely use it. I was worried this feature would sacrifice rigidity in the structure but this is NOT the case.

Cons: Big, the earcups are very wide felt like i had coffee cups for phones for a while. The phones arent very sealed either meaning you will hear alot of ambient noise from around you and people around you will hear alot of what you are listening to. These are minor things probably only an OCDer like myself would complain about but hey, a con is a con

Other Thoughts: Only used these for a bout 2 days before the right driver blew. Yes i like loud music but for $90 i shouldnt be able to blow them without plugging them into some rigged up over amped setup. I didnt consider this a con because when a company mass manufactures a product there are always bad eggs, and they come with a 30 day newegg waranty on top of a one year manufacturer warranty.

3 out of 5 eggsShould last longer

Pros: - Braided Cord
- Mic can be pushed in
- Comfortable (doesn't hurt your ears over long periods of use)

Cons: - The headset isn't 1 wire strung through. It has several joints that the wire passes through, one of which is right in the adjustable ear flaps. After 2 years of taking the headset on and off, the left-ear's joint finally gave and broke the closed circuit to the right-ear.
- Hard to clean its cloth. After a year of use I would be embarrassed if anyone saw my headset, there's a ton of skin gunk that can't be removed.

Other Thoughts: For a 2 year lifespan, I think the headset is a little over priced. I'd value it at 40-50 dollars... so if you can get it on sale or something, go for it!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: These head phones have fantastic sound quality, built tough, very comfortabe, and come at a great price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: These headphones are great but i bought them from the Steelseries website not from newegg. I am a guy who goes through headphones so fast it is insane due to gaming. Most brands i use do not last more than 6 months but these held out for over a year before showing any signs of cracks or the driver going out. I officially found my new brand of choice and recommend these to anybody who wants a new pair of headphones. My only problem was the expansion chord went out after a bit but my dog had a fair bit of fault on that. I am currently waiting for the Siberia v2s to be shipped to me by newegg. I am so happy i chose this headset.

1 out of 5 eggsSay no to Steelseries

Pros: Pretty, comfortable, retractable mic

Cons: My 5hV2 went out a year and a month of purchased, it was the cheap 3.5mm TRS connector that failed. >No help from Steelseries.

Other Thoughts: Brothers 7H's left headphone went out just after year warranty >No help from steelseries; he opened up and soldered the cheap Chinese thin wires himself on 150 buck headphones. Dont get me started with the 7g keyboards I bought from them. No more Steelseries.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat overall headset

Pros: I bought this headset many years ago and it's been a great gaming headset throughout the years and I've taken it on a lot of road trips and airplanes and it endured the wear and tear, but I too had the left ear side go dead all of the sudden.

I see others have had the same problem, so it's probably a common defect, but for the price and how long it lasted me I'm not upset, but I can only give 4 eggs since it died on me.

Cons: Retracting the mic can sometimes be a pain

The left ear died (rendering the headset useless) all of the sudden, but that was after many years of good use. If it hadn't had died on it's own, I would be re-buying this headset.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap!

Pros: Mic can be hidden & flexed.

Cons: Cheaply made with no attempts to build them to last. the padding under the headband is covered by a material the consistency of toilet paper. The size adjustment slide is so loose I doubt it will last 3 months before it allows the phones to slide down on their own. Cheap non replaceable foam earpads that might make it 6 months & they didn't fit my ears. Thin cord w/connectors up & down it's length, looks more like jewelry.
I can't see how these headphones are so highly rated, someone's getting bought off. If these things are being used in gaming competitions, then they are disposed of after the tournament is over. I have a pair of $25 Logitex ( miss spelled on purpose) phones better than these.
If you want to throw your money away then these headphones are just what you're looking for. I reboxed them & returned them in under five minutes. They were so poorly made I didn't even bother to listen to them. Go check the website forums, There are NO messages posted anywhere! Customer service is a joke, all you get is a standard form letter with your name cut & pasted in, & unless you bought them from their site, no help for you. I honestly can't believe how they are so highly rated, maybe some other model built them a reputation, but it's not this one. A true gamer will be looking for a much better headset in less than 6 months, but they will be out the money they spent on this junk. I could go on but, if you are still considering buying these, there is no hope for you, go flush almost a hundred dollars down the toilet, you might enjoy that more than the disappointment you will get opening the box these come in. Keep the box, it's the only thing they spent money on.

Other Thoughts: Cheap, cheap, cheap junk. Oh did i say cheap junk?

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for gaming

Pros: The mic works wonderfully for Ventrilo and other voice programs, and the virtual surround sound is great for gaming.

Cons: The audio quality is not the greatest for listening to music or watching movies, but I don't think most people buy these with that in mind anyway.

Other Thoughts: I bought these even after reading reviews of "left ear died after a year" and so on, but I've owned my set for over two years now and have had no issues with them at all.

5 out of 5 eggsLasted 6 years

Pros: I've had this headset for about 6 years or darn close to it. just recently the sound in the left ear went out, time to upgrade.

I bought this headset initially because I travel a lot and it breaks down into 3 pieces. The mic on it is crystal clear and works flawlessly for vent or teamspeak.

This was well worth the investment, steelseries makes a great product.

Cons: Absolutely none

3 out of 5 eggsGood while they laster

Pros: Comfortable for long periods. Ear-cups come off, nice for traveling. Braided cord with extension is handy. Pretty good sound for gaming, not so much for anything else. I inherited a set of Bose headphones and they sound much better for movies and music, better bass using the same equalizer settings.

Cons: The microphone went out after ~1 year with 0 drops/adult owned. While technically the mic does still work, it doesn't pic up anything without maxing the boost both in Windows 7 and Ventrilo. No amount of tweaking in Vent allowed my teammates to hear me without tons of static.

Other Thoughts: Owned these for 3 years and while I still use them for a headset, it's the microphone that I really need. The warranty period needs to be 3 years on an almost $100 "professional" headset. Going to give the Corsair Vengeance 1500 a try, never been disappointed with Corsair's customer service.

4 out of 5 eggsGet the 7h

Pros: Great Sound for FPS games, the full surround in the ear lets you know exactly where they are.

Very comfortable, I wear for 12+hrs >.> and no pain unless it is rested on my ear funny.

Retractable Mic (LOL at first) lets me bring these on campus and look less like a neckbeard

Threaded Cord. Kind of short but has an extension which is really long so its fine. Perfect for me because the cord reaches my MB and I can keep the extension in my bag.

Good Mic quality

They are visually appealing

Cons: For some reason the threaded cord at the connecter is thinner and apparently there are issues if you pull from the cord and not the connector head it can disconnect. Ive had no problems.

They felt flimsy from day one, ive dropped them a bunch from 4+ feet onto thin carpted floor and still no break, they feel flimsy but I dont think they will break, also the screws you can tighten back up easy, which is usefull if you want to take it all apart to travel or sometihng idk.

Not to great for music... while the game sounds are the amongst the best I read reviews saying it just lacks in the music and Id have to agree, although its not bad (im sort of an audiophile) so this is why I say get the 7hs

Other Thoughts: Just get the 7hs
