SteelSeries Headset

Powerful Beauty

The SteelSeries Siberia v2 USB headset is the successor to SteelSeries Siberia Full-size USB headset, which revolutionized several features in the headset industry. The Siberia v2 USB features a beautiful design combined with functionality and performance, all in one headset.

Retractable Microphone

The Siberia v2 USB features a retractable microphone that can be hidden in the left earcup, which means you can use it when you need it, but don't have to flash it in public if you don't want to.

SteelSeries Headset

Quality Driver Units

It's one thing to have a beautiful exterior, but it's what's inside that makes these one of the best quality headsets on the market. A 50mm driver unit with crystal clear sound in high, low, and mid-range ensures quality output for multiple uses.

7.1 Soundcard

The Siberia v2 USB also includes a 7.1 virtual soundcard, which is an improved alternative from your normal on board soundcard. The USB plug-in option makes this version of the headset even more convenient. The Siberia v2 USB supports the following systems: Win XP/Vista/Win 2000/Win 98/Win ME. The USB soundcard is compatible with Mac, however the software is only available for Windows operating systems.

SteelSeries Headset

Volume Control

The integrated volume controller on the cord offers an option to handle sound volume manually. This feature is especially useful when you are using your Siberia v2 USB with other devices and don't have swift access to setting volume levels in your software.

SteelSeries Headset

Noise Reduction

The earcups feature a noise reducing foam, which helps you to focus on the important audio or voice communication, and not being disturbed or interrupted by outside noise.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Decent sound/mic

Cons: Didn't last very long. After a while it just didn't want to work at all. Pretty much what most gaming headsets seem to be like.

3 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly Comfortable

Pros: Comfortable; Long cord so I can plug the USB into the back of my tower and bring the cord through the back of my desk so I'm, hopefully, not tripping over it. Reasonably good sound. Works with Ventrilo and Teamspeak., the drivers appear to be solid. It seems solidly built. I especially appreciate that the wires holding the floating headband in place are twisted stainless steal.

Cons: The 7.1 surround sound is virtual, in other words it's just a processed effect. Sound quality, both for the headphones and the mic, is on the low end of fairly unspectacular.

Other Thoughts: This is a well built headset on the high end of the mid price range. Good headsets are hard to find, especially in the mid to lower price ranges. This is worth buying if a $200 headset is not in the budget.

4 out of 5 eggsComfortable fit

Pros: -Great fit
-Quality materials
-Comes with a nice extension cable for 3.5mm which comes in handy
-The USB sound card is a neat little addition as well
-Excellent sound quality

Cons: -USB Sound card stopped functioning within the first week. Didn't stop working entirely, but sound quality degraded and microphone was completely non functional. Not a huge deal as I really didn't need it anyways.
-Buttons on the sound card are hard to press and didn't always activate and raise/lower volume or mute/unmute.
-The headband can get noisy and creaks a decent bit, but isn't too intrusive. Practically unnoticable when in use.

Other Thoughts: Really a great price for the quality you get. I had used the cheaper creative fatal1ty and while they were nice I had to buy one each year as they fell apart and stopped functioning. So far I haven't run into ANY problems with the controller on the main wire for volume and such, and the sound quality is terrific. If you're looking for a good headset that isn't too cheap but isn't overly expensive this a great buy.

4 out of 5 eggsbest headset ive had yet

Pros: - I was skeptical of the headband design, but now I would never go back to any other. It feels like it's floating on your head.
- Ear cups are supple and enclose your ear fully, which is unexpected since they're circular and not oval like logitech headsets.
- Surround sound is quite good and the retractable, adjustable microphone is great. Does a good job at keeping ambient noise out of skype/team chat.
- Sturdy design from high quality. Just used them to travel to and from europe and they survive the 48 hours of being hauled around airports, trains and buses, hung on bags, neck and armrests.

Cons: - The leather ear cup has a seem near to the speakers in the headset which can sometimes aggravate the top of your ear. I only noticed now after having owned it for months and its hardly noticeable but still an oversight that steelseries could have avoided.
- Would have liked the ear cups to be just slightly bigger to better enclose the ear. Theyre just small enough as is that you need to wiggle into them.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with my purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsSuperb

Pros: Sound is impeccable compared to 60 dollar price ranges. Very good at containing the sound in the cup, so comfy feels like a pair of breasts sitting over my ears. hahahaha
Im using the usb soundcard of course. Great bass, easy install, not so much for beginners since you have to connect a couple things, i would imagine some users having trouble connecting the soundcard properly. You have to give it a good pinch, that entire silver point needs to go all the way in.
And thats what she said. Other than that, you should buy it and if you dont, you better waste your money on something better, only a higher price range would make a better headset than this.

Cons: I owned turtle beach p11 before this. They served me well, 4 years, i never let those wires tangle, but i dropped the headset too many times.
The problem I find, is that maybe it could be a problem, its the fancy schmancy gray wires that stretch when you press the headband against your head. Its quite ingenius actually*
If you notice, instead of using your head, press it with your hand, stretch it as much your head would, just a little bit, unless your dumb enough to snap it.
Anyway, when you do that, look closely in the corner, you see a tiny bit of resistance, maybe overtime, for everytime you stretch the headband wire, its a little shreek of resistance for a split second, i suspect this could snap one day.
A little bit of wear and tear, but who knows, maybe they engineered it properly. It still looks like and feels like one tough son of a wire.

Also the wire sleeving is very skinny, turtle beaches make thicker sleeving, which has less chance of tangling on itself like a snake. I hate snaky wiring, i keep trying to straighten it out, no use, better off taping it, round and round we go, make it nice and thick, then it wont tangle anymore. Save your copper.

1 out of 5 eggsRight-side driver died within a year

Pros: Sound quality and everything was great while it was actually working...

Cons: Got this set June, 2013. It is now July, 2014 and the right-side driver is now dead. Only get sound on left side, no sound on right anymore.

I am very disappointed, as I expected these to last at least a couple years or more when you price them at $90 for a headset.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: These headphones are extremely comfortable and sound great. The microphone is crystal clear as well. Out of all the headsets I have owned, these have been my favorite.

Cons: Steelseries headphones have a tendency for the right speaker to go out after about two years. However, all of my experiences with Steelseries support have been great. They have been very accommodating and solved all my problems.

4 out of 5 eggsComfortable

Pros: Very comfortable, they sit on my head perfectly and have great ambient occlusion.
Mic is freely adjustable and also retracts into the left earpiece when not in use, very convenient.
Does not require adjustment, the middle padded band adjusts on its own to sit comfortably, the top wire band is the actual structure of the headset.
Mic quality is clear if you take the time to adjust your settings and collaborate with a friend on skype/vent/mumble to get it dialed in.

Cons: The material the ear cups are made out of can get hot/sweaty after some time, however I had no real discomfort or pain after a 6+ hour gaming session.

Other Thoughts: I do not use the USB soundcard that came with the headset.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome headphones

Pros: Beautiful and loud sound through headphones. Music sounds great, while games sound even better. The USB 7.1 VSS card does its job very well. I'm also a fan of the suspension fit (or whatever you want to call it) system. The headphones feel comfortable, and sometimes I forget they are even there. Retractable microphone is also a plus.

Cons: The microphone could use some work... It feels flimsy, and the mic itself is rather quiet unless boost is activated on the system. Also, the in-line mute switch is a bit of a hassle. While a smooth, glossy switch is good to look at, it's a pain to flip on and off.

4 out of 5 eggsRegret sending back!

Pros: * Good (not great) sound
* Comfy Comfy Comfy

Cons: * Sound not great
* Not really surround

Other Thoughts: * I wanted surround sound headphones when I bought these, they were advertised as 5.1 but they aren't. They've since fixed the ads.
* I sent them back because I wanted a true 5.1 headset so I bought a CM Storm Sirus. The Storm Sirus's have better sound, more bass, more sound, and it's true 5.1
* However the trade off is the Siberia's were super comfy. I have a fat head and you can bend the top out so there's no pressure against your head at all.
* I've since got rid of the storm sirus's because of comfort and I'd love to have a little better sound with the comfort of the Sibera's, but there's so many headphones out there I've decided I should of just kept them when I had them. Comfort is key for me.
