The SteelSeries 7H is a unique combination of quality, style, durability and portability in one headset. Its 50mm drivers create rich and detailed sound at high, low and mid tones, delivering an optimized soundscape that reproduces everything clearly from mood setting music to critical 3D positional alerts. The headset offers two interchangeable ear-cushions: dampening leather for passive noise isolation, or cloth for hear-through. The left ear-cup features an “invisible”, retractable, unidirectional microphone system, which can be discretely hidden when not in use. The detachable, braided cord features built-in volume and mic controls. Additional 2m extension cord is included for extra convenience. The 7H can be easily dismantled into 4 separate pieces for compact and easy transportation.

2 out of 5 eggsAs expected !!!

Pros: For gaming the experience is great; predicting and detecting where sound is coming from is precise.

The quality is decent; the comfort is alright as well

Cons: I have owned four 5H V2 and every single one the left speakers has gone. Had one replaced with RMA; the rest i bought thinking it wont happen again.

Long story short; the same thing happened to the 7H's

5 out of 5 eggs7H

Pros: Fantastic upgrade from a cheap $20 headset. Durable, long cord, great mic and solid sound.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Little expensive for non-surround headset but I hear stereo is better for gaming anyway so go steelseries!

2 out of 5 eggsGreat sound Terrible Mic

Pros: The sound is awesome for gaming. The only reason I gave this review two eggs is because how great the sound is.

Cons: Microphone is terrible for gaming. It lasted about three weeks before all my friends could hear is static. I searched for about two weeks for a solution before giving up and just muting the mic.

Other Thoughts: I've tested different mics with my machine and they work perfectly. My Blue mic and the Mic from my Turtle Beach Headset are clean and static free. Sadly even my webcam mic sounds better. All tests were performed with webcam and webcam unplugged as well as in different USB panels in (ie my laptop, desktop and recorder). All have this overbearing static noise that is unacceptable.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate*

Pros: Quality - These headphones are not cheaply made AT ALL
Durability- They are solid on the durability aspect, just know these are $150.00 headset's so don't put them in a place where they will fall to the ground, be aware of where you're putting them, and also be aware of the cord length. This is CRITIC
Cord Length and quality- it's a braided cord, anti tangle just like the g500 series, there is a volume control too and a mic on off switch
Comfort, Comfort, Comfort, Comfort, need I say it again these headsets are absolutely the most comfortable pair I've had the opportunity to try. I have used seinheiser h80's as well and razer products under 100.00. These surpass them all easily hands down, you get two different set's of pads, and the leather pads really feel good, grips your head snuggly no headaches after hours of use.

Cons: The tech warranty support is lacking. However once I put my foot down as a customer the company responded swiftly and you know what, I just may come back to them. They expedited out my new pair, the new pair I received had the same issue with the right ear cup so they expedited me out a right ear speaker it just plugs right in it's so easy to take apart and store away for travel.

I purchased the Ghost Recon 3D Fatal1ty gamerz sound card and with the headphone amplifier this headset is absolutely worth every penny. SOooo much pure bass, just beautiful.

Other Thoughts: I hope steelseries refocuses on the customer's experience, I really like your products.

I'd buy them again to be honest, they are just too darn good! lol ^^

1 out of 5 eggsReview update

Pros: They look nice. They are comfortable. What good is it if they only last the average customer a month.

Cons: Warranty through Steelseries is absolutely unnacceptable. My headset died after a month of use. Called Steel, and they told me it was my cable. They told me a new one shipped over a month ago. 3 weeks later no cable. Steelseries claims to have lost all their cables... : / really? I just went and bought one myself off of *bay, well guess what, they still don't work. Steelseries has yet to replace my headset. Had this been A**s, the headset would have been RMA'd withinhrs. Asus I miss you!

Other Thoughts: If you go to the BBB, Steelseries had their BBB credit revoked.

Their BBB credit was revoked this last November. Time to move on folks. I'd go with A**s if the money was still in my account. Now it sits in Steelseries bank, and they know it.

1 out of 5 eggsReally comfortable, great sound, right speaker died after a month of use, steelseries support is frustrating

Pros: Really comfortable.
Re-tractable mic, nice when not gaming, or not using mic.
Interchange ear pads, the cushion definitely have a comfort feeling to them as well
Long cord, really really long non braided cord

Cons: After about a week or so, I began getting static in my headset from moving the cord. I contacted Steelseries support and was given a rma replacement for a new cord. In the meanwhile, my right speaker stopped working all together. About three weeks went by with no cord showing up, so I emailed Steelseries today, and they just informed me that they ran out of cables. So they decided not to inform me because they are so busy.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor, look at the reviews on this product, there is a problem with these headsets the right speaker goes out after a short period of time. What's worse, is Steelseries support is seriously lacking efficient customer service and support. Based off of my lengthy experience in purchasing products at, and various retailers, I would seriously recommend a different product all together. Yes they look cool, look comfortable and they are, but you need something that works. As well as something where the manufacturer stands behind their product. Go Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good SteelSeries!

Pros: Portability... that's about it...

Cons: Uncomfortable. I can't wear them for more than an hour before the earpiece starts to hurt my ears. Too much pressure. The mic sound garbled and muffled. The USB soundcard produces some sort of feedback that can be heard by others (within TS3, or game) but not me. There is not enough bass, with or with out the sound card.

Other Thoughts: I have tried the Siberia v2 that a friend had; I should have bought those. I had a pair of 5hv2's that lasted me 3+ years until too many LANS have finally broke them down. I love my 5hv2's but I wanted to upgrade and ASSUMED that the 7H would be the best option. I was wrong.

Newegg is still awesome, and the rating is only for the product.

2 out of 5 eggsCareful with Steelseries

Pros: They are comfortable and nice when they did work.

Cons: Second headset I got from Steelseries and both times the right ear has died on me. The first head set lasted a while and thought it was just wear and tear so I got a new one to replace it. Got it on Christmas and been having right ear problems for the past week and just tonight it died. Just over a month and I have to get new ones.

Other Thoughts: They would be a great headset if they worked. As I said they are very comfortable and it didn't take long to break them in and get it to fit the way I want. It's tight on your head at first but it adjusts.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset

Pros: This headset sounds simply astounding. It is very comfotable (one you get used to it, see other thoughts). I love the in line control, much better than my last. The cord/extender combo is perfect. I do not yet have a Steelseries keyboard but my Razer Lycosa also has mic/headphone ports and the origional cable is perfect length. The build quality feels pretty sturdy.

Cons: None too big (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: Alright, so I had the Plantronics Gamecom 377, and I really liked it. It was very large and comfortable, had good features, and was build VERY well. I was a bit dissapointed when I put this headset on my head and it was smaller and seemed less comfortable than my last. I have since gotten used to the new size and fit (took about 4-5 hours) and it is very comfortable. I do still feel however that I cannot be as rough on this as my Plantronics, that one was very solid feeling. But if you have the money, definately go for this headset! If cash is a bit short, get some 377 from Plantronics, they are a VERY VERY good budget headset.

Hope this helps.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent headset

Pros: Upgraded from SteelSeries 5H v2, it's miles different than the 5H series. Sound quality is a ton better, noise cancellation is really great, first headset I've used that really does noise cancel well even when your volume is low, I've had a bunch of headsets that claim they are noise canceling, but nothing even close to this headset. Microphone is nice and sturdy, designed well.

Cons: Microphone sound by default is pretty low, but just a few tinkers in windows to fix that. Disappointed with the little dinky Mic/Sound control, but it functions fine so not that big of a deal. May feel a bit tight for some (seems pretty consistent with a lot of Steelseries headset's), but you get used to it.

Other Thoughts: Best headset purchase I've made yet, minor cons are not enough to even consider giving it 4 stars or less, let alone not purchasing it. Get this headset, you won't regret it.
