5 out of 5 eggsGreat sound quality and nice aesthetics

Pros: So far the sound quality of this headset has been fantastic, and the price that I got it for has been even better. I have to say both the stereo and the virtual surround sound in of this headset sounds great from lowest volume to highest, to lows through highs. I am not an audio hardware expert, but have started to take the time now that my rig is fully customized to the point I am happy with as far as main components to focus on things like nice quality headsets for gaming, music, and movies. Which this headset sounds great for all 3 so far. I also ordered a sound card and have recently installed a two set 2.0 T20's and this headset has been a great edition to the group.

Cons: Main problem with this headset stemmed from the sound card software, being the 1.0.4 driver which has no options to change frequency and in not being able to do this when you use the 7.1 card with the headset and mic you get a constant beeping in the back round. The other problem is that no where on the internet including steelseries do they have the 1.2 driver for download. I went through hell to get it and was able to find my old siberia v2 software and install it over the newer version. It was then able to turn of the spf/out and change frequency to 44.1 instead of the normal 48hz. This will make the beeping in the surround sound go away, and make one realize what an awesome headset this is.

Other Thoughts: After the driver version fix this headset is just fantastic for a gaming headset that can be used for music and not fail at it. lol. So, if you can find one for 80 and or under it makes it that much sweeter. I was able to pick up a refurbished one for 30 $ on sale. It looks new and works great so far(knock on wood)

2 out of 5 eggsGreat sound Quality - poor design

Pros: Fantastic sound quality. The various sound option types and adjustable sound profiles are phenomenal.
Microphone is very clear on mumble, ventrilo, and skype for others.

Cons: Would never recommend anyone to purchase these:
- The sound bleeds through the headset to where you can hear music/voices through it from three rooms away.
- It's not compatible with other sound controlling profiles. You can't adjust the volume without going INTO the volume bar or software
- Volume control is non-existent. It's either at 100% or 1%, nothing in the middle. You're either going to lose your hearing or feel like your deaf.
- Very uncomfortable. Unless you have small ears, both ear cup types will pinch your ears. The top adjustable bar has about a 5 degree curve, however my head ( and most people last I checked) don't have nearly flat, square heads.

Other Thoughts: For the retail price of roughly $90, there are numerous alternative available. For my particular application (gaming and music) these were a disappointment. The sound quality while good, was not good enough to justify the expense.

This is my second Steel Series headset (5H as well) and both have been a disappointment.

1 out of 5 eggsFollow up to my previous reiew

Pros: Look good.

Cons: Headset is actually a poor;y designed, cheaply made piece of garbage.

Customer service reps confirmed to be untrained chimpanzees..

Other Thoughts: So after 3.5 months, my ordeal with steelseries has come to an end. For my efforts they sent me 2 Siberia V2's and a Fnatic 7H. I initially bought the 7h USB because it is a 7.1 surround headset, and the 3 they sent me are not... Which I explained to them numerous times, and even asked why they kept sending me the wrong headset, that if the 7H USB wasn't available, to notify me and set up an alternative exchange. Which they never did. Just kept sending me "stuff" I didn't want. I now have 3 boxes in my closet collecting dust.

A few days later they messaged me that the 7H USB was out of stock. But, I was still able to purchase one from their own site, and even here. The only place they were magically out of stock was in the service reps mind.

So in our last exchange, I had had enough and called them names I can't post here. To which they said I had been fairly compensated, that my verbal abuse was "unwarranted" and then they banned me.

True story.
The end.

1 out of 5 eggsNow I know why it was on sale.

Pros: worked great and had good functionality

Cons: 2 weeks in I stand up and the sound cuts out.
no tug on the cord or yanking it just cut out.
The USB 7 connector is where it broke and this model where the cord is detachable is really flawed.
i do not recommend this head set if you spend even a fraction of your time on a computer.

Other Thoughts: i am mad bro

2 out of 5 eggsYou would think it's good...

Pros: I have owned this headset for 9 months and have had no problems with the cord like most others here. Also once you get the correct drivers, the sound is pretty good as well. The replaceable earcups are a nice touch and the headset is also quite comfortable.

The price has dropped quite a bit... Is that a pro?

Newegg's super fast shipping!

Cons: They are poorly made. I read the reviews before buying them and made a conscious effort not to do anything that might damage them, but after 9 months, the plastic clip holding the right ear piece to the middle support(this is a 3 piece headset: left, middle, right) just broke off so that the electrical connection to the right ear would break anytime I made a sudden movement and when picking the headset up the ear piece would slide off. So then the fun with RMA's began.

I'm not even going to type it all up seeing as how it's ongoing but I basically just hate everyone at Steelseries. I will say that their customer service is absolutely horrid and manned by chimpanzees. They aren't even trained animals, just chimps plucked out of the jungle and set to work at a computer dealing with unsatisfied customers. I am convinced of this and until I am provided a phone number and am able to talk to someone there, I will go on believing it.

Anyhow, just shy of 3 months after opening my ticket, yesterday I receive a box containing an invoice listing 1 Siberia V2 headset and 1 mousepad(consolation gift). Yes it wasn't a 7H USB, it was an even bigger piece of trash headset. and no there was no mousepad in the box either. So I am also presuming that their warehouse people are also untrained zoo animals of some sort.

So there you have it. Yes it's a horrible review, but that it is exactly what is happening with them. You might think I am exaggerating but I am not.

TLDR: This headset will fail and Steelseries has the worst customer service and warehouse/shipping EVER.

Other Thoughts: I can't wait to hear their excuse for why I was sent the wrong item after almost 3 months. My advice would be to buy anything else. But if you do some reading and the reviews have you a little unsure, move on to the next. The only reason I went with Steelseries this time is because I was impatient. Never again.

2 out of 5 eggsMoved on.

Pros: They sounded pretty good for the first couple of months I had them.

Cons: After having them for only 6 months, one of the cups started to cut in and out. I don't throw my headsets around and I keep them in good condition, but I couldn't hear anything out of the right side.

Other Thoughts: The only reason it got 2 eggs, was because they did sound nice when they worked. Other than that, they were garbage. My most recent headset purchase was a pair of Astro A40's which was also a mistake.

2 out of 5 eggsnot good

Pros: this headset produces good sound when its working.

Cons: my headset would randomly cut out in my right ear frequently, i would have to wiggle my headset back and forth to get the sound to come back through. the mic is bad to say the least.

Other Thoughts: for the price, i would consider looking into sennheiser gaming headsets for much better quality all around.

3 out of 5 eggsGood sount, Breakdown feature a terrible Idea.

Pros: sound is good, mic works, comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Cons: The breakdown feature of this headset. During packing of this product I take the headset apart because that's what I paid for. The headset ended up coming apart completely, the wires ripped apart, the plastic crumbled. This is complete garbage, I spent a ton of money on these and didn't even get 6 months use out of them. The 30 dollar KOSS i was using lasted well over a year... I put in an RMA request but fear they will deny me because they will call it wear and tear or abuse, I DID NOT ABUSE THESE HEADSETS, I USED THE FEATURE ON IT WHICH WAS YOUR SELLING POINT.

Other Thoughts: Not too happy with these as of right now.
