Features

SteelSeries Headset

Powerful Beauty

The SteelSeries Siberia v2 headset is the successor to SteelSeries Siberia Full-size headset, which revolutionized several features in the headset industry. The Siberia v2 features a beautiful design combined with functionality and performance, all in one headset.

Noise Reduction

The earcups feature a noise reducing foam, which helps you to focus on the important audio or voice communication, and not being disturbed or interrupted by outside noise.

SteelSeries Headset

Quality Driver Units

It's one thing to have a beautiful exterior, but it's what's inside that that makes these one of the best quality headsets on the market. A 50mm driver unit with crystal clear sound in high, low, and mid-range ensures quality output for multiple uses.

Retractable Microphone

The Siberia v2 features a retractable microphone that can be hidden in the left earcup, which means you can use it when you need it, but don't have to flash it in public if you don't want to.

SteelSeries Headset

Keeping It Real, or Rather, Vacuum Metalized

Don't try to melt down the gold and sell it. The gold rings on the SteelSeries Siberia v2 Black & Gold Edition headsets are created by using a process called vacuum metallization which helps to achieve the gold, shiny-like finish of the rings seen on both the right and left earcup. SteelSeries is one of the first company's in the gaming industry to use this process in peripheral color creation. Check out the black & gold edition in the photo gallery below!

SteelSeries Headset

Volume Control

The integrated volume controller on the cord offers an option to handle sound volume manually. This feature is especially useful when you are using your Siberia v2 with other devices and don't have swift access to setting volume levels in your software.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a title

Pros: Comfortable, very comfortable. The mic is super adjustable, more flexible than most others, and the sound quality is good. The mic output is decent, never had a serious issue with static or noise.

Best headset for its price range, $70.

Cons: I had an initial issue with static in my audio output but that problem seemed to disappear randomly. Left speaker broke within a year, see Other Thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I hear the left speaker, the one with the cords and mic attached to it, are always the speakers that die early on headsets, including reviews I have read of this. However, I just got a new chair and never bothered to tie up the loose cord, and would constantly run over the headset wiring as i spun around in it, maybe that's what killed the left speaker?

I have owned 5 headsets, 2 turtle beaches (an $80 and $120 range), a really cheap one whose brand i forgot, a kraken razor pro and this one. By far it has been my favorite, headset and the most comfortable. I just bought a second one to replace my broken one. I notice that it does not fit my head as nicely as my older one did but I expect adjust over time. I highly recommend this model.

2 out of 5 eggsDont buy this if you want a decent quality build

Pros: Acceptable for the price
Good sound
Good bass

Cons: Pad is DEMN HOT
Pad will break after about 12 month
Wire too thin
Volume control will BREAK after few month use
Sound of the left or right break or silence for no reason, have to send for repair (happen to 3 of mine)

Other Thoughts: I own steelseries v1, and 2 of v2, use them for over 5 years.
Neverbuy audio device from steelseries again.

Now i only use my cheap 5$ earbud, which is verygood for the price

Tip: set volume control of headset to max and use software (in windows) to change the volume only.

V1 have better build

5 out of 5 eggsSteelSeries Siberia V2

Pros: Got these headphones spring of 2013. Was upgrading from Creative Fatality II's because one side went out on one of them.

These things are impact durable, I've knocked them off my desk dozens of time onto wood a floor since I've owned the them. Cords been yanked to death for this same reason and because I don't use the extension cable that they provide, which adds a good few feet of length.

Now as for the sound quality, I feel that they are better than my old Creative Fatality II, but its been so long since I've used another pair of headphones I cannot really give an accurate comparison. I haven't noticed any sound degradation over the year either.

The cable has never crinkled up on me. The sheathing is nice and thick so as to prevent that.

It doesn't matter how long I wear them I don't experience pain from them being too tight. I have a medium sized head.

Cons: Now the one thing I can say say isn't the best is the microphone quality. It isn't per say bad, and I cannot give a great comparison to other headphones in this price range, but on Windows 7 and 8 I was having to turn on Mic Boost to be heard clearly. This was over multiple VOIP programs such as TS, Axon, Skype, Mumble, etc. Granted I had to do this with my Creative Fatality II as well.
In hot environments the faux leather or whatever the ear piece is made out of will get sweaty. I would still recommend it over cloth ear pieces though.

Other Thoughts: Buying headphones from what I've read and in my experience seems largely a matter of chance whether you get a good pair that has no defects and that won't fail on you within a year.

It seems to be the same throughout all of the brands I researched. The are always the lemons and when you buy some headphones be sure to register whatever warrenty you get and send them back if you are suspecting they are failing.

Regardless, these headphones have served me incredibly and should they fail I will be purchasing them again or hopefully Siberia v3 if they are out at that point. Steel Series has my future purchases from now on.

4 out of 5 eggsGood quality, but disappointing life span for its price

Pros: Insanely comfortable compared to any other headset I've worn. I wear glasses and it has never been uncomfortable in the year+ that I've owned it. Does get a little hot under the earpieces with prolonged wear, especially in the summer months, but nothing unbearable. I wear this headset for a good 8-10 hours a day and have no issues with the way it wears. Audio quality is good, too, but I'm no audiophile so I'm not that hard to please. Relatively noise-cancelling, but not a complete block-out. When the mic worked, it was decent enough, but nothing stellar.

Cons: The mic's life. After about 8 months or so, the mic stopped working when it was fully pulled out. I could leave it retracted or pull it out slightly and it would still work, but if I pulled it out to its full extension, it would stop working. And then just a week shy of one year, the mic stopped working altogether. Now, after 1 month of the mic not working at all, it's safe to say it's not going to work again. Considering the price of this headset, that lifespan is quite disappointing. My older headset that is over 3 years old still works, and it was only $25.

Other Thoughts: I'm rather tempted to buy another pair of this headset just because it's so comfortable, but the threat of another short lifespan stops me from doing so. The headphones audio still works for me, but I need a headset with a working mic.

4 out of 5 eggsNice all around

Pros: I was impressed to hear thing in my music and other audio that I never heard before in a cheap Logitech headphone that this replaced. VERY nice sound. It is clear and balanced very nicely, IMHO.

The muffs are nice and comfortable, and feel great on the ears, even with my glasses.

Cons: My biggest disappointment is that pieces of my brain didn't splatter against the wall when I turned the volume up to 100% like with my old Logitech headset. In fact, listening to it at 100% seems to be the only level worth listening to it at all; anything else is too quiet. Another 25% more volume would be perfect. Putting the audio to 110%+ in Linux caused it to distort, but this sort of expected when you overdrive sometime.

The mic quality was fine for my needs. Seemed to pick up a bit of the fan noise in my room though. Fine for skype, but don't plan on doing any voice recordings without some post processing and done in a very quiet room (duh!) :)

Other Thoughts: Not bad. Not bad at all :) I guess I will just have to get accustomed to quality over volume!

Also like having the heaphone/mic jacks as opposed to USB. The extension cable actually works perfect for me; less worry about standing on the cord, and can quickly detach and switch it to the laptop.

Pros: Fantastic sound, with EQ sounds even better, audiophile level

Price is great

Mic is wonderful

Super comfortable

Really good looking, sleek,

Cons: Tend to get hot around the ears after prolonged use
Material around earcups may be the cause

Other Thoughts: Excellent headset, if you've been shopping around for one, this is it.
Holds its own with headsets triple the price.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is great

Pros: Sounds great, bass doesnt sound distorted even with music, sure an audiophile might complain but i have a car with a system when i want super bass. These things hit but not too hard and i like it as it sounds perfectly balanced with the treble. Also people sound clearer and you hear things you normally wouldn't pick up when using speakers. The mic works in that people tell me my voice sounds crystal clear and that it doesnt pick up other noise in the room they are comfortable for hours(my longest gaming session this past weekend was 12 hours) on end and they dont make my ears tired even with glasses on.

Cons: its not really a big issue, certainly not enough to drop an egg but just to be critical about my review and having to think about a con i kind of wish the material for the ear-pads were made of cloth. they seem like a really thin genuine leather and the pad underneath feels poofy and really soft, i don't know if they will end up cracking down the road but the material seems really flexible so that shouldn't be an issue, but the only thing i can complain about is when i go to remove the headset it feels like they are stuck to my head in that i almost have to peel the seal off the side of my face i guess that could be a good thing too depending how you look at it or personal preference..

Other Thoughts: I had spent hours looking at headsets and narrowing down at all the ones i wanted and trying to stick with my PCs color scheme. At the end, i had my choices down to this and the Corsair Vengeance 1500. Ultimately i chose this becuase the vengeance1500's review rating was less then 50% 5 eggs and this was like 60% at the time; and these had signifigantly less deal breaking complaints. As soon as i put these on, heard the sound and tested the mic in vent, i was sure that i made the right choice the right choice.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Everything. This headset is absolutely incredible. I've had it for over a year now (1 year and 1 month to be exact) and it's been exactly the same since day 1.

It is THE most comfortable headset I've ever worn. And like a fine wine, the comfort only gets better with age. I've used Logitech, Turtlebeach, Bose, Beats... and for comfort, this headset trumps all.

I like simplicity. If you want extra software to change your voice or to monitor and control every aspect of audio, then this is not the headset for you. But if you're like me, and all you want is a button for volume control and to mute the microphone, this this IS the headset for you.

The sound quality is great. Now, I'm an audiophile. I have totally separate headset for listening only because...well...yeah. Audiophile. But this is not that kind of headset. This is the kind of headset you game with and talk to your buddies with on Skype, Vent, Mumble, etc. AND I WOULDN'T WANT ANY OTHER KIND OF HEADSET FOR THAT PURPOSE.

Cons: It doesn't make me a sandwich but hey, you can't get everything you want.

Other Thoughts: Stop reading this review and buy the headset already.
