4 out of 5 eggs777 Best Bang for the dollar

Pros: I own several plantronics headsets and they all have been good. Never broke a pair and some are over 6 years old.

If you can find the 777 they are still a great deal. The 780 is not really much better and is 2x cost

Cons: For this price none (under 40.00)

Other Thoughts: Take the people that give 1 star because they broke it in half with a grain of salt. They usually did something stupid to break them and want to blame it on the headset rather than themselves. These people are puny and tiny.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke in half

Pros: Sound quality is pretty awesome, at least compared to a standard stereo headset.

Cons: The plastic headband snapped. It seems to be a common problem. Just Google gamecom 777 broke. :-( Plantronics used to build high quality stuff, Now it seems that they just build cheap stuff.

2 out of 5 eggsSound is okay

Pros: Sound good. Comfort is not too bad. Big size fully covers your ears.

Cons: CHEAP PLASTIC. It wasn't long after I bought these headphones when the plastic cracked where it joins onto the headband part on the left ear. Glue would not hold this together so I had to fabricate two metal plates and sandwich the section using small bolts to hold it together (I still had to handle gently). I have been using like this for over a year and now the other side cracked then broke apart completely(not really fixable) rendering them useless. The model I have is NOT the USB model but looking at this picture I can see the headphone is exactly the same as mine.

Other Thoughts: If they didn't break so easily, they would be fine. Bass response is okay but nothing extraordinary. I won't buy this brand again.

4 out of 5 eggsMy first gaming headset

Pros: As my first gaming headset, I have to say it was a pretty good purchase. I use it mostly for Skyping and the sound quality is good. Included amplifier is easy to install and really does help. Very comfortable, even after long periods of use.

Cons: Makes me sweat a little if worn for a while.

For music with bass, it can get distorted if you turn the sound up too much.

Really need to use the included amplifier in order to get the most out of these. Otherwise, sound can be muted.

Other Thoughts: Overall a good headset. I would buy them again, but I'm going to be looking for true 5.1/7.1 headpsets as my next purchase as I'm getting back into gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsWaited this long 1 year later

Pros: I've had these headphones for almost a year now and I have to say they held up.

The mic comes and goes as it bleases and the wind from my fan doesnt help it. But the headset on its own delivers loud 5.1 dolby.

You will literally hear the competition walking towards you so you can prefire.

Cons: About a month ago the plastic finally gave up from me splitting it to put on my head. Using tape right now to hold the left ear cup in place. But for the sale price I got it at I couldnt complain much.

Mic went out 3 months after strong usage and constant in and out of holster.

Other Thoughts: For the price it was great! The surround sound is perfect for games like Counter Strike and Call of Duty with sitrep pro!

2 out of 5 eggsGameCom 777

Pros: Great sound quality
Mic is clear
7.1 USB adapter is nice to use with other headphones

Cons: Horribly uncomfortable
Fragile

Other Thoughts: The sound on these is great and the mix is also great, but the quality of the product feels cheap and flimsy. Mine snapped trying to put them on my head so I had to tape them together. But most of all these are NOT comfortable, I could not wear these for more than an hour without having my ears get sore. During long term gaming runs comfort is everything, I cannot reccomend these.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Well.

Pros: They work and haven't broken yet. I've had them for 6 months!

Cons: Not the most comfortable headset i've owned, but not bad.

Other Thoughts: If they hold up for another 6 months, I would buy another set.

2 out of 5 eggsGood While They Worked

Pros: Amazing sound quality - the Dolby USB is fantastic
Very very comfortable, can be worn for extended periods of time with no discomfort

Cons: I got this product roughly 7 months ago and the mic stopped working yesterday. The sound portion is still fantastic but the mic portion of the headset might not be the best.

Other Thoughts: When it worked it might have been the best headset I've ever owned but I wasn't thrilled with the mic going out for no discernible reason.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for the price.

Pros: The emulated surround sound works really well on this headset. Games that utilize it sound a thousand times better than stereo. The bass is nice and heavy, but not overpowering. The open-ear design lets you hear your surroundings, even when listening at pretty high volumes.

Cons: They don't keep noise in very well, so gaming and loud music might not be the best choice if other people in room like silence. Also, the swing-down microphone arm does not automatically mute itself as advertised when in the upright position. This isn't a big deal, as you can mute it from the volume dial, but it's worth knocking an egg off since it is listed on the box as a feature. It was pretty awkward to find this out when I swung the arm up, started talking to my roommate, and was told later by others in-game that they could still hear our conversation. It is also fair to say the mic is overly sensitive to background noise. The mic is also a little too sensitive to background noise. Keystrokes, chair squeeks, anyone talking nearby, even just touching the headest itself all get picked up. Considering this is advertised as a noise-cancelling mic, I also consider this worth an egg.

Other Thoughts: You can calibrate mic sensitivity in almost any software you might need to use it with, so I would still recommend this headset if it's in your price range. I bought this to upgrade from a cheap Xbox headset I used for PC games, and friends could immediately tell the difference.
