2 out of 5 eggsMicrophone mute feature not that great.

Pros: I generally like Plantronics headsets (both USB and non-USB), and these do seem like they're of a quality that agrees with the price point.

Cons: In addition to being "bigger" on-ear headphones, I thought the microphone mute feature (being able to swing the microphone boom up and out of the way, which also places it into "mute" mode) could be beneficial. But in practice, the amount distance I think is "far enough that the microphone should now be muted" is not the same as what Plantronics thought. You have to push the microphone completely up, until it physically cannot move any further, before the "mute" functionality will kick in.

For VoIP calls, this is a very "imprecise" mute mechanism. Rather than being able to push a button and see clearly "mute is engaged", I push my microphone boom up but /still/ don't know whether I'm actually successfully muted. Only when my VoIP software shows me my microphone audio level can I tell whether I'm successfully into "mute" mode or not. That's just more complicated than it needs to be.

Other Thoughts: Recommend getting the Plantronics .Audio 646 instead. I bought it at the same time as the 655 thinking the 646 would be my "throw into the laptop bag" extra pair, but it turns out I like their design way better than the 655, and they are half the price.

2 out of 5 eggsSpend a little more and get something worthwhile...

Pros: -Very good audio range, a lot of bass for headphones that I find impressive.

-Plug and play, no drivers needed (Windows 7, 8, and 10.)

Cons: -Audio!! The audio range may be great but WOW the quality is terrible! There is popping, random buzzing, and other strange noises that you would expect from low quality audio (and it gets worse the higher the volume is) - 16 bit at 44100 Hz, CD quality basically. And that is in fact the highest setting that I can change it to.

-No official drivers!! Are you kidding me? Plantronics does not make their own drivers for ANY operating system for this headset. Windows uses the generic USB audio drivers for them.

-Very cheap plastic. After reading a few other reviews I took a look at why the plastic keeps breaking. The plastic is grooved on the inside, making the inside weaker than the outside. Thus after very little use I have noticed that on my headset the plastic is already starting to break. I have to be VERY careful with them. I feel it's only a matter of time until they do break since this headset has a tendency to always fall off my desk.

Other Thoughts: When it comes down to it, when (not if) this headset breaks I will be replacing them with something else. Thankfully I got them as a gift and didn't waste my money. Truthfully my official opinion of this headset is that they are just TERRIBLE and I would not recommend them to anyone.

3 out of 5 eggsThey're headphones

Pros: They're headphones

Cons: Small speakers, hurt ears after wearing them for a short while.

Other Thoughts: For the price I could have bought some used g930's, probably going to return.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressed

Pros: These headphones work well with the Razer 7.1 Surround Sound driver installed via the Razer Synapse program. While I had to adjust the EQ settings, lowered bass, slightly higher treb, etc... I was able to get these headphones to work very well for Counter-Strike GO. I would say 90% as well as the Razer Kraken 7.1 headset.

Cons: Mic can be heard

2 out of 5 eggsKeeps breaking

Pros: Sounds great, I've used the DSP series headsets for over 12 years in competitive CS and you can hear through walls like none other.

Cons: This newest generation keeps snapping, cheap plastic. These are nothing like the legendary DSP500s (which NEED to be brought back btw)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome headset and cheap

Pros: Everything is great with these headsets. Great highs, mid and lows. Loud volume. never had issues with them in in over 6 years.
this is my third pair and only because I've broken them.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: after my daughter broke my second pair i was looking to upgrade to one of those fancy headsets and i bought the Logitech g430 and Razer Kraken pro which are both twice the money, however i had to return both of those since they had inferior sound and features.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke after 33 days

Pros: None

Cons: The plastic in the part that goes over your head snapped during normal usage (just putting the headset on). The sound had strange static while listening to music. Sorry but I would say this is not worth buying.

5 out of 5 eggsWay too good for the price

Pros: Deep (if not always acurate or undistorted) Bass
Cost effective
Great controll placement

Cons: subject to distortion at high volume, hot on the ear, but what Circumaural headset isn't

Other Thoughts: After having the left channel go out on 2 similarly priced Logitech sets in under 5 months each, I was looking for somethign not them. Having worked in call centers for years, Plantronics has been a brand name in my head for 15+ years and I'm well exposed to their products. I am now working from home, and needed a replacemnt headset that wasn't going to cost me an arm and a leg, my requirements were stereo, usb and in-line controlls, this was the cheapest Plantroncis that fit the bill. They work for their intended purpose flawlessly, as a usb headset for Avaya One X. I also listen to music during calls, helps me not go off on them too often, at low abckgroudn folume elvals, and it soundds fine. Between calls or when on break, i pump up the volume, and these things kick in to high gear, they deliver that bass you can feel as the thing tries to power off your head vibrating your ears, you know what doctors tell you will lead to hearing loss. The bass is powerful, the trebble is pronounced and often clear. It can get a little muddy on bass heavy songs, or if the clarity of the original song is iffy. I throw everything at these, pop, top 40, Dubstep, Various Electroncia, it handles classical dubstep just as well too, I didn't expect anything close to this performance for $35, it is louder and provide just as deep, possibly deeper volume then my $100 analog Sony's, but they suffer in clarity, at high volumes a more espensive set wouldn't. Still for the money it's a great buy.
