5 out of 5 eggsBest stick Ive ever owned

Pros: Ive had this stick for almost 3 years now with nary a complaint. Its accurate, rugged, and can keep up with the best out there. Ive used mine for hours on end playing every single DCS module, including the UH-1H, Ka-50, F-15...and it feels so natural to use.

Modding this stick is easy. Ive mine on a piece of galvanized pipe mounted to the floor on top of a 1 1/4 inch flange, which helps make it feel naturally like an actual aircraft stick. I cant fly it in any other way. No way am I going back to Saitek, their stuff feels too flimsy and breaks too easily for me.

Cons: The TARGET software seems like its too much of a hassle to learn to me. This is the only thing Ive to gripe about with this stick...Saiteks SST software was easy to set up. If it were any easier, this would be hands down the best stick on the market today. My other gripe would be the pinky switch on the left hand throttle. It gets gummed up pretty easily. Its a 3 pole switch anyways, so replacing it is just as easy as heading down to a local electronics store and picking one out of their parts bin for 5 dollars.

Other Thoughts: Its well worth the investment.

3 out of 5 eggsConflicted feelings on this one

Pros: The joystick is simply put, a work of electronic art. The precision and smooth reactions cannot be overstated. It is simply a joy to operate. Switches and controls for anything and everything. A flight simmer's dream come true....for the most part.

Cons: For all the solid construction that went into the joystick and base for the throttle and switchboard, it is baffling as to why Thrustmaster would skimp on the most used and moved parts. The CMS 4 way switch on the joystick is cheap plastic, shoddy manufacturing. WIthin 3 days the switch was loose on the gimble, and had so much play you could hardly accurately use the button. The throttle is also cheap plastic, which flexes and creaks with each acceleration or deceleration, the plastic 4 ways on this too, are of questionable origin. It is just a slap in the face after you pay several hundred dollars for what was supposed to be the best, and there are small minor flaws. That lead to breakage, Quickly. When you pay this, you expect it to be the best and perform as such. QUality construction included. And good luck dealing with Thrustmaster on this one. IF they decide to respond to you at all, you will be given a list of requirements to meet before they will even consider helping you. After you fulfill the requests, they will continue to ignore you.

Other Thoughts: Id love to say jump all over this, that it's worth every penny. But it just might not be, unless you have the money to easily throw around. If you are saving for the top of the line sim hardware, this might be a disappointment. Just be aware of what you're getting into, and test it thoroughly upon receipt. At the first sign of defects, immediately return. There's a reason Newegg doesn't support this under the Iron Egg.

5 out of 5 eggsNo Equal

Pros: Superb build quality that portends a long, functional life.

Cons: The TARGET software used to configure the umpteen buttons, knobs, hats, and switches is not very user-friendly but this is a very minor issue. You can wade through the baroque documentation and learn how to set things one time, then forget the whole matter. You also have to find and download the software yourself from the ThrustMaster website.

Other Thoughts: This link to find the TARGET software and instructions for it might be removed, but here goes... http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=3&pid=311&cid=5

Hope that helps you to decide to buy this product on Newegg.

Some users might be worried that it does not have a rotation axis for full 6DoF control. I solved that by assigning the trim wheel as my yaw axis (I don't happen to play any games that require trim settings). It has a little detente in the center of its travel so you can feel when the yaw is at zero.

4 out of 5 eggsMostly great

Pros: Accurate, solidly built joystick with good feel and motion.

Throttle sweep is smooth and accurate.

Plenty of buttons/switches/hats

Pretty much everything is tweakable and/or programmable.

Cons: Focuses on being an accurate replica over being a perfect PC joystick.

The pickle button, for example, requires a significant amount of force to engage - probably accurate for the A-10 and not a problem for launching missiles...but not great if used as a secondary fire button.

Throttle stalks/handles are plastic and flexy - they feel cheap.

The physical action of coming off center with the joystick isn't as smooth as it could be.

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to get rudder pedals - there is no twist.

Since this is a replica, the throttle has a lot of toggles that are NOT the typical momentaries on most joysticks/throttles. For *most* games this will require setting up a profile in the target software (so the toggles can be 'programmed' as momentaries), then launching the game's script (and the game as well, if you like) from the target software - it's not a huge deal, but it's worth noting. The software itself is relatively straight forward and gives the HOTAS system great flexibility.

5 out of 5 eggsyou'll never touch your old stick again

Pros: Thrustmaster did something simply amazing for the community by making this joystick(flightstick is better fit, feels like the real thing), my brother who is an actual A-321 driver actually says the Thrustmaster flight stick feels heavier than his plane's...

i'm in control over my plane again, i used to own a Saitek X-52 Pro with the magnet mod done just to provide better control, but with this flightstick, i do not need to wonder where i'm at in the sky again.

easily the best quality thing i bought for it's price, really amazing thrustmaster!!

Cons: not really con, but the throttle indent for the idle stage could have been made better, sometime the pc does not pickup movement from idle to power for startup. but overall good throttle.

5 out of 5 eggsFly to new heights!

Pros: Every thing they said it was. The feel is outstanding, HEAVY, Not for the faint of heart at their price. This is an awesome set up! Very accurate, It is right on the money with reaction. When you let go it is centered there is now wobbling around it stays at zero point. Not sure thats the right vocabulary but you get my point. I LOVE IT!! The lighting just adds to an already outstanding product. If only they made everything this way. I'm sure this thing will last for YEARS!!!!

Cons: Throttle handle is plastic, Drivers are outdated from 2011, No FAQ on their site just help files for installation. win 8.1 user beware. They have replied promptly with help only to direct me to Windows problems solving. They really need to do updates on their drivers. Needs more info for this I spent 8 hours so far trying to get it to work right. Works with win generic drivers from 2006 though. Not many profile maps so you have to create your own. Newegg would not match others price.

Other Thoughts: I first saw this on here at the price of 596. Saw it at Wally world for 419. After I called on it they lowered it to 499. But for what I spent on it this is the greatest thing since breaking the 640 mg ram barrier! Despite all the agravation of installing it, I will not give it up for nothing. Nothing even compares! Of course I bought it at Wally World. So much for price matching.

5 out of 5 eggsGold Standard in Combat Flight Simming

Pros: Thrustmaster Warthog hands on throttle and stick (HOTAS) is the finest throttle and flight stick controller you can currently buy on the consumer market. It is the gold standard in combat flight simulation. The flight stick alone, the quality of it is worth the entire price of the system.

Cons: Plasticy parts on the throttle, not what i would expect for a very expensive controller. Having owned the TM Cougar, this was the biggest disappointment was the amount plastic on the throttle.

Other Thoughts: In order to calibrate the joystick and throttle manually you'll need to get a utility from TM that isn't linked directly on their site.

5 out of 5 eggsWarthog HOTAS

Pros: Finest joystick you will ever use. Feels like the real thing. Movement is stiffer than a plastic joystick, but more realistic. Heavy, sturdy, well-made. Plenty of switches on both stick & throttle (quality ones, not cheap ones). Very smooth reaction times in flight sim programs.

Cons: Throttle rear detent for engine cutoff is a bit stiff (pulling throttle levers up & back from rearmost position), but this may be by design. No other issues.

Other Thoughts: This is the real deal. Use it & you will never want to go back to a plastic joystick again. This was meant to last.

5 out of 5 eggswow, just wow

Pros: Durability, smooth actions, switch construction, software.

Cons: price...slightly

Other Thoughts: You really get what you pay for, this bad boy blows every saitek out of the water. The devices are sturdy, the switches are very well made, and the action on both the main stick and the throttle is as smooth as butter. The switches in particular are impressive, I spent 8 years in aviation in both the army and in the civilian sector and they are as sturdy as you will find inside a cockpit. The only downside to the stick is the resistance on the afterburner catch. if you flip the stopper around to add in that resistance you literally have to lift the throttles to get them past the detent. Even at 13 pounds on the throttle, the main body will still lift off the surface you have it sitting on. If you plan on using the ab detent, screw this bad boy to your desk or something

5 out of 5 eggsTHE Flight control system to buy!

Pros: Sturdy, Stable, made from quality material, adds to the "Immersion level" of the flight sim, or combat flight sim of your choice. fully adaptable and programable to suit your play style and preferances. Backlight switch lables in "NVG" (Night vision Goggles) green (Backlight intensity user configurable).

Cons: A bit of a steep learning curve starting out, doesn't come with many pre-set profiles (although they are easily found on the internet) I guess the price point puts this out of reach for some, But, save! Scrimp! Scrounge! Make a sandwich at home instead of dropping by the drive through a couple times a week. It all adds up, and you'll get there, and I promise you, it's worth the effort, scarifice and monitery restraint.

Other Thoughts: As you know, this based on the A-10 "Warthog", and there is a very good, and quite well known combat flight simulator based on this aircraft. For me it's neat to press a button, or flip a switch that's labled with it's functionality, and to see that translated on screennjust the way you would in the REAL thing is reaally cool.
