4 out of 5 eggsgood but expensive

Pros: great sound that brings a smile to your face, beautiful design, comes with a stand, headset feels sturdy and of good quality material, mic seems awesome. cool idea of mic mute. not bad of a range.

Cons: expensive, the little transmitter and stand feels cheap. would have been nice if they could have used metal. ear cushion absorbs heat making summer use nearly impossible unless youre ok with sweating in 300 dollar headsets.

5 out of 5 eggsIllest set of headphones out there

Pros: So I've had the Astro A50 headset for just over a month now. This is by far the illest headset on the market. I have it paired up with a Sound Blaster Z 5.1 PCI-e sound card. I play a lot of BF4 and it sounds absolutely amazing. And for those nights you cuddle up with a beer and some tunes, … there are no words for the happiness.

Cons: LEDs are red. I'm going to figure out a way to change that. The rest of my LEDs in my build are blue. If I figure it out, there will be a youtube video or something because I seriously doubt anyone else is crazy enough to crack this thing open and solder in there.

Other Thoughts: I've been messing with/building/programming for about 15 years as a point of reference.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Product, Terrible Support

Pros: - The headset is very comfortable and fits snugly on the head
- Sound quality is great and the surround sound is perfect for FPS games and anything that you play in first person
- Mic is great, never have any complaints about quality of sound when on Skype/TS/Vent
- Battery lasts a good while (5-6 hours or so) and the headset can be used while charging
- Headset has built in power saving feature and will turn off after about 10 mins of detecting no sounds being played

Cons: - Expensive, easily one of the most expensive headsets you can get for gaming

- Firmware has not been updated in months, not sure if this is due to it being "perfect" or laziness on the part of Astro

Other Thoughts: After 9 months of use the headset will now no longer stay on when not plugged in and "charging". Even if left plugged in for days the headset turns off after 3 mins of being unplugged. I can then turn it back on, and it will stay on for about 3-4 mins before turning back off again. Not sure if this is a firmware issue (using the latest and have been for months) or the battery has finally died, or the headsets built in "power saving" feature is on the fritz.

I have submitted a case with the Astro support team and after 2 days have not received anything other than a confirmation email. I am unable to create an account on the Astro forums due to the verification captcha box not displaying (tested this on 3 different browsers). So I am unable to appeal there for help.

This is not the kind of support I would expect from a company selling a $300 premium gaming headset and it is not inspiring me to be a repeat customer.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Multi-Platform Headset, Period.

Pros: This headset provides the best in comfort and sound quality that I have ever experienced in a universal gaming headset.

Universal... Did he say that right?

Yes, this headset works on all platforms that I've tested it on. (even on my Nvidia shield over a 3.5mm to 3.5mm Aux.)

Long battery life and amazing range in volume.

eggcelent construction and overall build quality.

Cons: windows defaults to USB connectivity even though USB is mainly plugged in for power. The USB connectivity mode provides the WORST sound quality of the connectivity options available out of the box and never once did not produce static. however, since it is clearly intended as a power supply method and not as sound transfer, I will not be deducting any eggs for this particular con.

Otherwise, NONE!

Other Thoughts: This headset is amazingly comfy, provides amazing sound, and Astro seems to have a keen eye in presentation as the included headset stand is a wonderful, albeit a small touch. I constantly forget I'm wearing them because they are so comfy and I absolutely love that.

Still have not made up your mind? Let me lend you some words of assistance from the wise...

If you're a serious gamer, or just love having the best sound possible without family or neighbors complaining... Then this is the BEST headset for you, hands down. Just buy it. I am Positive this headset will not disappoint.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Headset Ever

Pros: Great Headset! Have been using it for almost a year now and it's by far the best headset I've had. (It better be for the cost!) I'm a gamer and love to have the great sound quality and also be able to do voice chat during games. This headset does it all.

Cons: The only con I have is it took a little while for the docking station to sync with my computer. Once I got it to connect and get my computer to recognize whenever the headset was on to take priority there has been ZERO problems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat headset

Pros: The first thing you will notice about this headset is how comfortable it is to wear. I've had turtle beaches, razors, and a multitude of other headsets, and this, to me, is the most comfortable I've ever worn. The sound quality is extremely good, and with the mix amp and any sound card it makes it movie theater quality. The voice quality is also extremely good, and everything transmits crisp and clear with little to no background noise, even with my pc running with 7 fans right next to me.

Cons: The only con I have is that I can't use them with my laptop because it doesn't have an optical output, which I guess is my fault because I didn't think about that when ordering the laptop. Other than that it is a great headset

Other Thoughts: Thankfully you get what you pay for, and this headset delivered for me.

1 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: ear cups and comfort - the foam is really soft and doesn't generate as much heat as I thought it would. So comfortable that I find myself forgetting I'm wearing it even though I'm wearing glasses while having these headphones on

sound quality - listening to music is quite good on these headphones. I can almost compare to my Bose speakers. Game sound quality is good as I can hear movement around me when playing Battlefield 4. Movies sound quality is probably equally as good as game or music sound. I would rather used my Logetic speakers to watch movies than the headset.

Wireless - I walk around the house while wearing this and had little issues, I went as far as 5 to 6 car length and has very little drop in sound.

Microphone - is pretty good but it's not the worst mic on the market

Cons: This is where my biggest issue I experienced using this headphones. On my second day of using this expensive headset. it decided to stick a middle finger at me and stop responding to me. I was unable to shut it off via power button, the volume wheel on the headset stopped working as well, When I plug the headset into the mixamp, it doesn't connect so it couldn't recharge. I email Astro tech support about this problem and received multiple emails from them the following day, and was of no help as this problem reoccur many times. I've decided to file for a replacement headset and hopefully the newer one will be better than the last.

Other Thoughts: I'm dissapointed with Astro, for a 300 dollar headset anyone would think the quality of the headsets are much better than that. I'm giving them a second chance, and the second one has problems then I'm done with Astro completely.

5 out of 5 eggsIn love so far!

Pros: -Comfortable
-Light
-Wireless
-Sounds INCREDIBLE
-Mic quality is great

Cons: -Weird clicking noise when no sound is coming in

Other Thoughts: I bought the a50 and paired it with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium. So far, the sound is awesome. Like a movie theater on my head. Easy install. The battery lasts pretty long, but not long enough for my days off xD

When I have no audio coming in to the headset, it makes a strange clicking noise in the left ear. However, I haven't searched for a fix because I usually have some sort of audio coming through.

1 out of 5 eggsWas sad to rate this so low

Pros: Honestly, the real only pro that I can put here is that it was comfortable. This was the only reason that I actually kept the headset for so long, and that the bugs would work themselves out. Unfortunately, today I've had enough of it so I'm writing this review in hopes to let people know of the problems they will deal with

Cons: Okay, lets get started.
Bugs. Hell there were so many bugs with this headset. First it would cut in and out on random ocassions, which I was never actually able to resolve. They tell you to reinstall drivers (all of your pc drivers) reinstall the "firmware" for the headset, the whole shabang. I did this I cant even say how many times, and I searched and searched for ways to stop the headset from cutting out, but it never worked.
Then, there was the screeching noises. This was rare, but sometimes when the headset would cut out, high pitch noises would come back when it would cut back in, which sucks for me because I have quite sensitive ears.
Then, sometimes the headset wouldnt turn off. Sometimes when it would just cut out, and never cut back in, I would try to restart the headset to solve this issue. Sometimes it would work, but sometimes, like right now, i have to put the headset in "timeout" on the corner of my desk and let it run completely out of battery. Yeah, cause I want to spend my day outside, right? Sigh*
And today. Today was the final day when it literally, and I mean literally, crashed my stream. I was streaming on twitch, then my headset cut out for no reason of course, didnt come back in, then when i tried to reset it, it crashed my stream. Cause playing in the middle of a dota game and having the headset crash my stream and not being able to have sound is AMAZING. I tried really hard to like this headset, I really did. It was suggest to me by EG and I figured I would love it. But it's just so beyond buggy. I even ended up reformatting and the headset still had the same issues. Oh also, another thing, the cut outs happen every day. And most of the time, it resets to a standard volume, not to the volume you had it previously.
Oh another thing that really was annoying to me was that if you unplug it, and don't have sound on it for like, 5 seconds, the headset turns off. Yeah, I get it, its supposed to save battery, but it's literally 5 seconds or less that you have to put something on, otherwise you have to turn the headset on again. That's not the biggest deal, but sometimes it was pretty annoying.

Other Thoughts: I keep pretty good care of my headsets, so it wasn't damaged in any way. I tried astro, I tried.
