5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Okay now I'm sure if you are interested in buying these headphones you are already aware that their primary purpose was designed to be playing games. That being said the majority of this review will be based on their performance for playing games.
First of all I would like to point out that these headphones have an amazing sound stage and their directional sound capabilities are amazing. The obvious example to give would be being able to hear footsteps in your favorite FPS and being able to tell what direction they are coming from and how far away they are. Also these headphones are very clear and every word and sound is easily identifiable (implying you are not deft.)
Another great thing about these headphones is they are so amazingly comfortable, I honestly can not describe how amazing it is to wear these. They are so huge you figure they must weigh a lot on your head, but in actuality I swear they barely feel like they are there.
So in conclusion these headphones are terrific for gaming, and pretty much only that. These are by far the best gaming headphone at this price range, and you won't find one better unless you go up to the 200$+ range. If you are a serious music/movie lover these are not the headphone for you; however if all you do is play games and listen to music on the side, then hit the add to cart button cause you're gonna love 'em.

Cons: No bass
They are huge, if you don't have a place to store these after use then you might want to consider buying one of those headphone stands because they are gonna end up dropping on the floor.

Other Thoughts: If there was an option to give them a 4.8/5 that would be my rating because the no bass is annoying at sometimes, but I was warned so no complaints really the amazing sound stage and directional capabilities is just to awesome.

I wear these whenever I am sitting at my computer, they are on right now if you're wondering.

If you do not have a big head, I don't know if these are for you. I have a large head (23in around) and these headphones are a perfect fit on me.

Also, I am using an integrated sound card, while using THX TruStudio pro because it is a feature with my mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome sound

Pros: Bought these for my guitar playing and they rock. No feeling like you have a seashell up to your ear with these.

Cons: Maybe if I get real picky I would say the color, but I just don't care.

5 out of 5 eggsSome of the best around $100

Pros: The best soundstage that you will find around $100. This means that positional accuracy and the "size" of the area are phenomenal. For music, you can pick out where each instrument is. For movies, you can tell where the action is coming from. But this brings me to my most important point:

For gaming, particularly first person shooters, these are as good as it gets. Every footstep, gun shot, and tank rolling by are represented in perfect directional detail. You can be hearing 6 different sounds at once but still pick out where each individual thing is located. Prepare to get accused of hacking :D

The comfort level is also insane. I have an enormous head, and I can wear these for an entire 8 hour gaming binge. They are light and very breathable.

People are complaining that sound leaks on these--they have no idea what they are talking about. These are OPEN BACK HEADPHONES. It says OPEN-AIR right in their name, people. That is a part of the design. Open back headphones allow for a wider soundstage, which creates a huge advantage for gaming. If you want something that doesn't leak sound, you need to go for a CLOSED BACK set, which will as a result probably have a smaller soundstage because of its design. You can't take rating away from an OPEN AIR headset for leaking sound! Sheesh.

Cons: You would not want to wear these for music in loud public spaces, and you do not want to wear these next to your loved ones in bed at night. As others have mentioned, these are an open back design.

Not as much bass as some closed-back headphones, but I would consider this a pro for gaming and many genres of music.

Other Thoughts: Gamers, don't hesitate. Don't waste your money on a junky, gimmicky "gamer" marketed headset that will break/fray in 4 months. Spend a few extra bucks on these and have your freaking mind blown. No "gaming" set even comes CLOSE to these.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent headphones!

Pros: These sound fantastic by my standards. I'm not an audiophile but I wanted some headphones for gaming and they sound fantastic with good soundstage, making directional sounds easy to pinpoint. I'm noticing sounds in games that I've never noticed before; it makes playing through some of my games a new experience. They come with a long cord so I can get ~5-7 feet away from my A/V receiver and still have plenty of slack. They are super-comfortable on my head (I have a small-ish head and most headphones tend to hurt my ears after just a few minutes of use). I can't overstate the comfy factor: they're the best feeling headphones I've had on.

Cons: The purple color on the mesh is a little odd, but it's nothing to mark them down for. They're a little larger than I was expecting, but also nothing worth complaining about. My only real complaint is that the earpieces don't articulate when the band stretches, but they do pivot side-to-side. So, someone with a smaller head (like myself) might find that they're looser on top than bottom.

Other Thoughts: I chose these headphones after quite a lot of online researching. These cans always came up at the top of people's recommended list based on their performance-to-cost ratio. I like the open-air design because it lets me game while still being able to hear what's going on around me (you know, in case my wife is trying to tell me something "important"). I've heard from other reviews that the bass is a little toned down, but I wouldn't agree with that. I'm mostly using these for gaming and I'm definitely getting a whole new experience from some of my games!

3 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Accurate sound (no distortion)
Perfect cord length
Durable cord and jacks
Extremely comfortable
3D sound placement

Cons: No noise cancellation what-so-ever
Overall underwhelming sound

Other Thoughts: I wasn't expecting too much, but I was hoping for a little more than this. The sound is pretty accurate and crisp. The high hertz sounds don't hurt my ears like they do in other headphones, and the bass is tight instead of distorted.
The cord length is as long as you'll ever need it to be without being cumbersome.
Great for gaming due to the accurate placement of sounds for a 3D/holophonic effect. You could also wear these for hours and not get sore ears or a sore head.

On the bad side, the sound overall sounds like a discount pair of headphones (which they are.) The sound just isn't that great for music. I didn't find myself hearing any "new parts" like many do with a good pair of studio headphones. Very underwhelming.

Perhaps the worst part of these, is that you can hear absolutely everything through these headphones, both as the wearer and an outside listener. The only way to block outside noise is to crank the volume up, but this is no use because at even the quietest volume people can hear everything you are listening to. I had a friend sitting across the room that could repeat every word I heard through the headphones while playing music at 1/10th of potential volume.

Bottom Line: Go with the Sennheisers

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: I saw a immediate improvement in my chivalry matches it is just amazing i dont even realize im wearing it haft the time. I am stun with the way it preforms.

Cons: It look ugly i might get mod mic 2.0 but i think it might look out of place so that is a maybe

Other Thoughts: For the price of $100 it performs better for gaming than a $500 so the value on this is amazing

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headphones

Pros: First off, I would like to state that I own the A700's I could not find them listed on this website, but I am not really going to go in-depth on the sound but more of my overall experience with the quality. Though the sound is pretty much the same in both of them.

First off, the build quality is superb, i've dropped these so many times on hardwood flooring and they keep on going! Rolled over the braided cable with my chair, twisted the cable, pretty much might have destroyed most headsets. I've even left them out in the car during the winter/summer and that doesn't seem to effect them at all.

The quality of my A700's (remember the quality is a SLIGHT bit different, I believe the AD700's actually sound a bit better) is just more than exceptional. It was a big upgrade from my Turtle Beaches & Astro A40's. Even though those aren't really meant for listening to music on. Just giving you an idea how how amazed I was when I actually bought something that was meant for listening to music with.

I'm at my computer for 5-6hours a day, and after I get these broken in. (By bending them to fit my head.) I really never have fatigue or ear problems or anything.

Gaming has been excellent with these. I don't have a problem hearing footsteps, knowing what type of gun is being shot. What direction footsteps/gunshots are from, though that mainly relays on your soundcard more than the actual headset itself. Though you do not need a soundcard for directional sound to work, but it MAY work better for you if you do have one.

Overall this is one of the better "future proof" purchases I have ever made and can 100% say that i'm happy and wouldn't of changed my mind about.

Cons: Not really cons but just some minor things that have happened to my A700's.

* The rubber/plastic padding on the ear cup has come completely off. So now it's down to the bare foam. (It didn't effect the comfort of the headphone at all)

* The plastic ring that held the pad onto the headphone actually started tearing, so I had to superglue the pad onto the headphone. Once again it wasn't TERRIBLY hard and as much as i've put these through and it only be a cosmetic issue i'm 100% happy.

* I'm sure it's different on the AD700's but on the A700's sometimes my ears get sweaty. Not a problem, and i'm 100% sure it's because my headphones are closed back.

* Not a con, but if you have a small head. These headphones most likely will not be the ones for you.

* If you're into RAP music and like to hear more bass than anything else. These headphones are also not for you.

Other Thoughts: * I don't have a DAC or AMP for these. The sound is still great!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing but the average bass head won't appreciate

Pros: Its a low impedance set of fairly high quality headphones so your volume will be decent even on a mp3 player. As far as feel, as long as your head is on the larger side you will love how soft and light it feels.

Amazing sound stage, drivers are angled rather than perpendicular to your ear so that they sound more like speakers. These function best as monitors, they do not exaggerate any frequency in a large amount but display every frequency with great clarity. Audiophile kids might not be impressed but its sound quality is amazing for most folks.

You will need a decent DAC/sound card and audio files to bring the best out of these headphones. Games are amazing and the lightness + sound create a very immerse environment.

If you want heavy distorted bass go buy yourself some different headphones as these were built to represent the music as close to as it was recorded as possible.

Cons: For gaming the open air design isn't the best, you can hear everything going around you still unless you crank up the volume. This is a con of all open air designs.

Will not fit smaller heads.

Will not appease average consumer looking for heavy distorted bass.

Cord might be too long for average person.

Will require a decent DAC to get the best out of the headphones meaning more expenses

Not everyone is into purple and beige for the color

Other Thoughts: There should be a disclaimer that this is not a pair of headphones for the average consumer. You will not get your head rattled off from listening to rap on these headphones BUT if you forget about loud distorted bass for a minute you might find yourself enjoying the songs even more as they were intended to sound.

2 out of 5 eggsNo Bass

Pros: Good soundscape? I could hear all the upper instruments. Cool looks.

Cons: I have a big head, and I was at the bottom of the sizes this thing fits. Huge. No Bass, I've had better sound on 20$ headphones, and these are 100$plus. Also, sound leaks everywhere. You have to turn up the volume extremely high to get decent sound out of these, and you might as well be using speakers because everyone around can hear you. Weird considering their massive size around your ears.

Other Thoughts: Like taking two speakers with no bass and putting them to the sides of your head. Whoever else is reviewing these has never had a good pair of headphones if these are getting 5 eggs. returned.
