4 out of 5 eggsImproved fit after 4 months

Pros: 1. Solid build quality.
2. Excellent bass response.
3. Excellent sound quality.
4. Aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: *See Below.

Other Thoughts: Four months ago I reviewed and gave these a 2 star rating because of a very tight fit. After being persistent with these and allowing the foam of the cans to break in, I'm adjusting my review up to 4 stars.
They still get uncomfortable, however I'm able to wear them for approximately four or five hours now. This is about the maximum time I'd ever wear them.
Give them time to break in and they're just about perfect, even considering the price. They have a premium feel and sound. For my at-home listening experience these have become my go-to cans.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: I just got these headphones. Been wearing them for about 30 mins, if that.

The sound from these headphones is pretty good. Very clear, not muffled like some others.

Cons: However, there really isn't that much base. Aside from that, the earcups are tiny and overall the headphones are very tight. After 30 mins, my ears are already hurting. Also, the headphones are extended as far as they go. My head is of medium size, it's not like need to special order hats because my head is giant. For 200 bucks, these headphones just aren't worth it.

Other Thoughts: I bought a set of Phillips O'neal headphones 2 yrs ago and they finally died because of cord problems. However, the sound in those headphones was great. And they fit perfectly. And they cost 30 bucks. I will be returning these shortly, and will just have to swallow the 15% restocking fee, which is gonna end up being 30 bucks. Very disappointed to say the least.
Also, seriously, are these headphones made for women or young teens? I just can't believe how freaking small they are.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate re: Short Cable

Pros: Short cable can be extended by using a 1/8" stereo extension cable.

Cons: Slight sound quality loss on long extension cable.

Other Thoughts: Sound quality remained very good when used with either a 3 ft. or 6 ft. stereo extension cable. With a 10 ft. cable some smearing of the sound was noticeable.

3 out of 5 eggsVice-like Grip Gave Me a Headache

Pros: Snug fit helps ensure tight, punchy sound and block out external sounds.

Wide frequency response without any noticeable shrillness.

Cons: Advertised as over the ear with large earcups, they are in fact ON the ear and not at all large earcups compared to others i've tried. As a result, their snug fit pressed too hard on my ears causing them to hurt after 10 or 15 minutes' listening. i don't have big ears, but these earphones are not large enough to fully cover my ears. So, they press my ears flat against my head and that becomes extremely uncomfortable the longer i wear them.

You should listen to earphones for half an hour or so before buying to decide if they suit you.

Both earpieces have a connecting socket, but only one of them provides full sound for a single listener. The other socket is so a friend can connect their own earphones to share the sound. Unfortunately, the sockets are unmarked and if you connect to the wrong one you'll get a thin tinny sound, so beware of that when you hook up!

See sound evaluation in Other Thoughts below.

Other Thoughts: Being a lifelong music lover i judged the sound quality of these Street Audio iX1's by listening to a variety of my favorite music.

General impressions: Good bass down to around 35Hz, but the very lowest notes are absent. The claimed frequency response down to 10 Hz is utter nonsense (and yet all headphones seem to make this kind of claim). A little extra warmth in the lower midrange, while pleasing on some music, makes cellos and lower voices a bit cloudy or muddled. Midrange is nicely open and detailed with a decent amount of ambience and breath where appropriate. Treble is crisp and precise without being exaggerated. No brittleness or shrillness here. As for the very high treble range, i dare not comment as my ageing ears lack the sensitivity they once had at very high frequencies. On rock and reggae and blues the sound is tight, punchy and makes you feel like dancing (too bad the connecting cord is so short !!). On opera voices, especially female voices, are natural and pleasing. On classical piano the wide-ranging sound is evident and a Steinway is easily distinguished from a Bosendorfer. Solo violin sounds pure and sweet even on several digital recordings i sampled. Massed strings and full orchestra have both weight and extension which, as we all know, helps bring the music to life.

Ultimately, the satisfying music performance is spoiled by the excessively tight fit that left me reaching for the Advil.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice headphones!!

Pros: Very comfortable, even at extended wear times. Excellent sound; especially good bass. Very sturdy design without being too heavy. Even at higher volumes bass and sounds don't distort. Mic works good for phone calls, but incoming sounds don't seem crisp.

Cons: They kind of push the glasses forward on your face if you're wearing them at the same time.
Inline control is a little higher/lower than I would like

Other Thoughts: Would really like the inline mic and controls to work with Android as well. I like these better than the Beats ones I tried out.

1 out of 5 eggsNot what you may expect

Pros: -Hello. I am technically inclined, but I like to take the approach of a person reading reviews that doesn’t understand all the “geek speak” and make it understandable for the person who doesn’t have the time or patience to study up on stuff. If that’s you, then this one is for you.
-Look cool
-Feel comfortable (I have a large head and fully expanded was just a perfect snug fit)
-Detachable cables
-iOS support (iPad, iPod, Mac etc.)
-Monitor headphones (good for DJ’s) – but not as “sound proof” from outside sounds as they should be (compatibly to other “private” type headphones. I cannot see using these as a club DJ for example. Good enough for a LAN gaming get-together though.

Cons: -Sound Quality is muddy at BEST.
-Cables are WAY too short.
-Thin steel and part aluminum hinge construction. They couldn’t really take a beating and keep on “beating.”

Other Thoughts: -Just because this is a review, please don’t take my words lightly and think I just favor a product because it is sent to me. I have a job to do; and that’s to be fair and honest about the product for future prospective buyers. I am just like you, a Newegg customer, and to me Newegg reviews are golden. So I am not about to tarnish Newegg reviews OR my good name by telling you something is good when it is not.

-I had a REAL big review made for these headphones, but decided to trash it and just tell you exactly what the public thinks about these headphones..
-After I review items for Newegg and it’s manufacturers, I usually keep, give away, or sell the item on a very famous free classifieds website (you know who I am talking about). Well I put these headphones up for HALF the Newegg price-point and got ONE text message from an interested party after being posted up for over a week; which was never a fulfilled sale, even after offering to come down on the price another Jackson. I received these headphones on Jan 1, 2014 and tested them for well over a week, put my classified ad up and today they FINNALLY sold after 3 WEEKS!!! Today is Jan 29, 2014 and these headphones wouldn’t even sell for ¾ of a Franklin. I finally sold them for one Grant bill after 3 WEEKS!!! With the competition out there with MUCH superior quality (in construction and sound) on the classifieds section, these headphones weren’t even CLOSE to being valued (and here it IS folks) weren’t even CLOSE to being valued by the public for 25% of the retail price these headphones are selling for. Now granted, this may not be considered a “review” you’re used to, but let me tell you something… the PUBLIC (as well as I) know what is worth something, and when it is not. I just thought I would let the public be the review this one time.

-I hope this review has satisfied your purchasing inquiry needs. Thank you for reading. And thank you Newegg for allowing me another great opportunity to review.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound, good price, not the best fit

Pros: When they say these headphones have real bass, they mean it. Literally the first impression I go from listening to the first song was just how deep and clear the bass is compared to most headphones. No muddled or overly high pitched bass.

The audio quality is also very good. I come from a gamer background and am used to wearing gaming headsets for hours at a time. The audio quality was very good for the price with correct pitch and tone across the spectrum. I tried this with my Android phone, Android tablet, laptop, and my Xbox One via the Astro Gaming mixamp.

Cons: While not much of a con, it would be great if these things supported Android as well. I understand that android phones differ quite a lot compared to Apple, but surely with Android popularity they could have added support for at least most modern Android devices to use the volume controls.

Also, as most others have said, these headphones fit tight. As I mentioned, I am used to wearing headphones for hours on end, but I could not go longer than about an hour at a time with these. Perhaps they will get better with time as they are "broken in".

Other Thoughts: I paid $250 for my Astro gaming headset, which supports excellent 5.1 surround sound audio via the mixamp. These headphones produced excellent sound, much better bass than the Astro's. Obviously it did not support the Xbox chat functions since it is not a gaming headset, but otherwise, the price and performance ratio was exactly as I'd have expected.

4 out of 5 eggsStellar

Pros: It's not much of an exaggeration to call these "Acoustic Monitor Headphones" – they really could be used for monitoring applications in a studio; they're that good. And what's the basis for that claim? It simply that these headphones are revealing details in music that I've never heard before on any stereo or headphone, including some high-end studio cans. I love progress!

I immediately noticed how generally pleasant music was sounding on these – no trace of fatigue. But then a Led Zeppelin song comes up in the random mix, a song that I didn't think even had "lyrics", and I was able to understand every word (unfortunately, in this case). This suggests that the sonic bliss generated by these phones is not the result of EQ tricks, but is rather the result of some extreme accuracy.

As one would expect for this price, the build feels solid, with metal hinges and trim. Cables are nice; even the case seems useful. Having a detachable cable solves the weak point in many headphones, since it can be easily replaced when it inevitably fails.

Sensitivity is excellent, which means less battery drain on portable devices. It also means you should turn down the volume before plugging these in. ;-)

Cons: My con is probably not one it all for most people. For me, these headphones have way too much bass. But, as other reviews illustrate, this is entirely subjective, because almost everyone prefers exaggerated bass in headphones (to compensate for not "feeling" the bass). I have some high-end reference phones with surgically flat response, and they always sound too thin; so I get why manufacturers usually design consumer headphones with a bass boost. But for my taste, these are over the top – I'm guessing there's a good 6db bass boost built into them. Some kinds of music – EDM, hip-hop, etc. – don't mind this at all. Pre-90s music tended to be a little bass-shy, so these phones are fun for revealing bass content in the oldies. But anyone looking for accurate musical reproduction will need to seriously EQ these things.

Other Thoughts: Yes, they do fit snugly. This does make it more noticeable to be wearing them, but it's the price you pay for excellent sound isolation. Incidentally, it makes them an good choice for tracking in a studio – minimal sound bleed in either direction.

5 out of 5 eggsvery good headset and price piont

Pros: Build quality above normal in fact very good. from the wire is extremely flexible. like hospital tubing. much improved over my 6 year old sony headphones that i spent $350 on. the quality of sound is also improved over the sony and constitution and materials used much better.

sound quality of this headphones is excellent. So much so like when i upgraded to 7.1 stereo. each tone is distinguishable i can tell where the foot steps are coming from whether behind me or on side or left right. this is most likely just from its sound clarity. this happens with any good set of headphones but these have extraordinary sound clarity, great for gaming. As for music and iPhone and IPads see other thoughts

Cons: i only had 2 days of use so far and so far i like them no complaints. they fit better and are more comfortable them my sony headset

Other Thoughts: i used this headset with my iPhone 5. sound is amazing. listening to pandora was a treat. i could actually tell the difference from using WiFi to cellular. WiFi more low end mid end and bass. more bandwidth from the WiFi gave a fuller sound.
using with the phone worked great, worked as should and the remote buttons worked. i used out side with background noise and i never missed a word nor did the person on the other phone. I also used inside in a quiet environment and they worked just fine.

i should point out that you will notice how bad the cellular sound is with this headset since you hear everything. it could have been the older iPhone4 on the other end.

now when i used this headset with my mcintosh stereo that's when everything changed. listening to classical music was exciting, i felt as i was in center stage. now there are better headsets for this at a much higher cost.
cost per quality this headset is a very good deal at $250

i think i need to elaborate on the build quality of this headset . from the extremely well engineered wires that are very flexible and i expect to last a long time. to the headset it self with comfort padding wear needed molding around head to the quality of materials used throughout is impressive. though my sony has more padding on top its still not as comfortable as this headset .
now for gaming. i can tell where the sounds are coming from. from the clarity . for instance. when i play a game on my old laptop with the laptop speakers. foot steps or any sounds are one dimensional . Use this headset and everything comes to life. i can tell where the sounds are coming from and how far and as others reviewers have stated with this headset you can hear things never herd before.

i played command and conquer generals. i could hear a truck in the distance coming towards me that i would not hear on the laptop speakers. this gave me an advantage i didn't have before and my gaming improved immediately. no more sneak attacks on me.

this is very good headset for the price. i don't see any disappointments unless you require special needs or looking for something better at a higher price or have an unusually sized head.

5 out of 5 eggsMTX does it again

Pros: Been wearing them for 6 hours a day for a week playing with them. The only time my ears got sore is when I had it up to loud (they are loud).

Works perfectly on my PC and are extremely loud, and crystal clear, at times I forget I am wearing them. (can only turn the volume up to 26 out of 40 for long term use)

The more power you can put to them, the better / deeper the bass gets.

Functions as advertised on an I-Phone

Not very audible to those around you, so you can crank the volume up without being nagged to death.

Cons: Cables are short, Kinda figured they would be as it was advertised as an I-Phone compatible headset............. but why is the second conjoining (standard) cable shorter????

People will want to borrow them.

Other Thoughts: I have been a bit of an Audiophile most of my life, every car I ever owned (under 600hp) has had a crystal clear, bass punchy stereo in it. Some of them were in Competitions.

MTX has a very well known name in Mobile audio, cars, boats, you name it.

I have 2x 12" 1000W Sub-woofers and 4 x 6" Speakers in my car all by MTX, and my stereo is still they envy of all my friends after 5 years. They have amazing clarity and great durability.

As they move into headphones, I am very impressed.

The cable can be plugged into either side, but they only fit one way, the ear cones are tilted for comfort, put them on backwards and suffer the consequences.
