5 out of 5 eggsGreat feeling mouse

Pros: The "rubberized coating" is not what I was expecting. I was hesitant to buy the Havoc at first because of this - I liked the glossy plastic feel of my old mouse. I thought it would feel like holding a mouse shaped tire. So if you are thinking like I did, don't worry. I would say it feels like a mix between teflon and rubber. After 2 weeks of moderate gaming I have noticed the rubber stays clean much better than the plastic side (which is painless to wipe down).

The mouse fits my hand very well. I use a palm grip and my hand is about medium sized, I guess. I haven't had experience with other mice but the main switches feel very sturdy and respond very well.

After downloading the software from the cm storm website, setting the DPI and LEDs is pretty straight forward. I haven't set up any macros yet, I've just kept what's standard.

Cons: It takes a bit of time to download settings to the mouse, but I guess that's understandable.

Other Thoughts: Again, since this is my first "real" mouse, I can't compare it to others, but about 2 weeks in, I really like it.

5 out of 5 eggsBlown away...

Pros: -Fits near-perfectly to my hand and grip style

-Has a nice angle for my palm

-awesome rubbery-matte finish, doesn't tend to collect sweat and grime the way most glossy mice do, plus grips great

-Tracking is silky and still precise

-LED's are nice and not overpowering

-Nice click resistance on the primary L/R buttons

-Decent weight

-Textured rubber thumb grip on the side makes for an excellent grip and so far and my thumb has yet to slip off during intense matches/dungeons.

-Massive "feet" coat almost the entire edge of the underside, very smooth and glides like a cloud for me.

-does NOT feel cheap, this tends to be one of my biggest gripes with mice. It's all a matter of preference, but from where I'm standing this thing is screaming quality in relation to what I payed for it.

Cons: -The glossy strip on the right overhang where (presumably?) most users right ring and pinky finger will sit or lay.

It could do without it entirely and the only purpose it seems to server is cosmetic.

-Resistance on the side mouse buttons is way too touchy, I mean WAY too touchy. I find myself occasionally wrapping my thumb for the forward or center mouse buttons I've programmed functions to, only to find due to the sudden dpi change that I've unknowingly switched mouse profiles. It could use a bit more resistance.

I'm being picky here, I'm blown away by this mouse all in all so please don't let the few noteworthy cons turn you off.

Other Thoughts: (Not cons, just things to mention in case you're one of those buyers who skips straight to reviews without doing the research in its entirety)

-NO adjustable weight system, but the weight it presents on its own is not bad, a bit on the lighter side, but those with massive forearms/hands or those who are used to weights may find this mouse way too lightweight.

Looking for a solid well-rounded gaming mouse for about $50? This could very well be it.

Great product, hat is off to CoolerMaster and I'll likely be using this mouse for years to come.

5 out of 5 eggsInteresting.

Pros: Great size for my hand. Weird combination of claw grip friendly and relaxed hold compatibility. Nice software. Configurable. Lots of buttons.

Cons: Em. It is not free? It feels slightly cheap, although it is, so I suppose that makes sense...

Other Thoughts: Might be small for larger hands.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't try to use with a Mac

Pros: Comfortable, lighting customization is fun

Cons: Some how, using this mouse messes up software on a Mac.

I had to leave a review since this was the oddest behavior I've ever seen on a computer, ever.

If I plug in this mouse into any Mac, I can not open Filezilla (I also seem to have other issues within things not working correctly with other pieces of software). If I unplug the mouse, I can then open Filezilla. I've been able to do this across different machines and have the exact same experience.

I've never had an issue using a 'pc' mouse on a Mac and this was by far the oddest issue I've ever seen. If I plug in and unplug the mouse a few times it will end up crashing OSX. Some process is started when I plug it in but I couldn't nail down the exact process before the computer hangs.

I have no idea how a mouse would stop a program from starting but this one does. I'm sure on a PC it's great, but if you want to try to use it on a Mac (I run Parrallels so had the software installed on the PC side), it's basically useless.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Mathew,

The CM Storm Havoc is meant to be used on Windows PC systems and we apologize for the inconvenience. We currently do not have support for OSX or Linux distributions. Yet, if you are using Bootcamp or Parallels, you can upgrade the drivers for it which are available on the Havoc product page. (Link below) If you are still experiancing issues within Windows and need further support. You can contact us by telephone (888-624-5099) or LiveChat (Link below as well) and we do what we can to help troubleshoot this issue with you. Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Respectfully,

Robert N.

5 out of 5 eggsComfortable

Pros: Fits on my hand Perfectly. The downloadable software has everything you need to customize how the mouse operates on your OS if desired. All the lights inside are somewhat customizable as well, Pretty cool breathe option, making the light pulse. You can create Macros assign rapid fire to a button. You can change mouse sensitivity & fine tune the X & Y axis speeds. Create multiple profiles that save to the mouse. You can do a lot with this mouse.

Im an on and off gamer that does a lot of computer art professionally. This mouse has a good Comfortable feel to it. Very happy I chose it. I'm very very picky when it comes to mouses. This was a shot in the dark and im glad i did it.

~It just looks sick. Ive just been sitting here staring at it for like an hour.

Cons: Non

Other Thoughts: This mouse is a little light. Just saying...Its light if your used to a heavier mouse. Just a little getting used to required.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good mouse, a nice alternative to Logitech for the money

Pros: - very precise
- Solid construction, braided cable, good materials
- Super-tweakable
- on-board profile storage
- Uber-smooth glide on mousepads
- Driver software is slick and no conflicts so far
- LED lighting bling!

Cons: - Needs the driver software installed to work well, otherwise has momentary hangs
- Cannot toggle the mouse wheel detents on-off (like you can with the G500)
- No weighting system
- LED lighting "only" has 7 pre-defined colors, and no support for user-definable colors...

Other Thoughts: This is very good and smooth mouse, once you've installed the driver software, which seems a real must as the mouse would freeze for 5 seconds every 15 seconds or so without it. The driver does seem compatible with the Logitech profiler software (no conflicts, co-exists well).

This mouse fits my large-ish hand well; I have an older Logitech G500 mouse and this mouse feels a bit wider, shorter in length and slightly taller. It does not have any weight-adjustability like the G500, but the Havoc is fairly light and feels just about right to me regardless so it's not an issue. This mouse has three VERY large sliding surfaces, which are far larger than any of the Logitech mice I have (G500, G700, G9x) or any other mouse I've ever used for that matter, and I believe these help it glide better on my SteelSeries ThicknHeavy pad that any other mice I've tried. The mouse wheel has a more positive 'detent' than the G500 (which always felt a bit soft to me). This mouse does not have the pushbutton to toggle the mouse wheel between detent-mode and free-wheeling mode like the G500 has, though. I do like the LED lighting (seven colors to choose from) but no support for user-defined colors. The CM Storm driver software has a ton of tweaks to choose from, so this mouse is *highly* tune-able to suit your taste and speed. The macro capability exceeds my needs but is nice to have, too...

Overall, an excellent mouse at the price. I'm glad I snagged one. :-)
