3 out of 5 eggssupport poor

Pros: Webcam works ok once you manage to get it set up. Driver decent for a cheap webcam, includes zoom.

Cons: Drivers did not load by clicking setup.exe on the CD, but I was able to get them from the mfrs website. There was no manual on the CD nor downloadable from the website. There is a quick start guide, but nowhere does it tell you that the webcam is manual focus, via twisting the bezel surrounding the lens.Need to have some means to stabilize it on the desk due to the stiff cord.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Coming Soon!

Pros: Simple to use, works fairly well, doesn't cut out during use. Works out of the box with Skype.

Cons: somewhat bury, doesn't automatically adjust to lighting changes, mediocre quality. After the computer has been on for a while, it sometime won't recognize the webcam. Problem fixed by unplugging, re-plugging the cord.

Other Thoughts: Running windows 7, I use it mainly with Skype. The uploaded video was taken using the default webcam and microphone settings.

2 out of 5 eggsA Mistake.

Pros: The camera is attractive-looking and inexpensive.

Cons: I'm not sure how this camera performs under Windows, but in Ubuntu and Mac OS X, this UVC-spec camera performs abysmally. I recently moved my main workstation from my 13" MacBook Pro to a Linux desktop (tried Ubuntu and Debian), so I needed a webcam to replace the built-in iSight. Not only did the quality not compare but it wasn't even acceptable. The video was very grainy, with lots of color distortion, and the microphone sounded muffled. (I plugged the camera into both the Linux desktop and into the MacBook to make sure it wasn't a software configuration issue)

Maybe I got a bad camera? Maybe my expectations were too high?

Other Thoughts: Replaced it with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000. Very pleased with it.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks on Windows 7 x64

Pros: Good Webcam for video chatting on Skype, etc. Sound quality and picture quality are both good for the price(please see below).

Cons: I initially installed this webcam on my laptop running Windows 6 x64. Using the default Windows 7 webcam driver yielded poor video and even worse audio performance. Once I installed the manufacture driver and software the change in performance was night and day and I highly recommend it.

Other Thoughts: The Hercules software does not recognize Windows 7, and give an error that it requires Windows XP SP2 to run. After exiting the installation Windows gives the message that the program might not have installed correctly. Click install using recommended settings and it should install correctly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value-Priced Cam

Pros: *Affordable
*Nice Resolution
*Glass Lens

Cons: *High res is interpolated, but still its not bad!

Other Thoughts: Use this to video chat with family and friends on the Eastern seaboard, and it works well. The mic is pretty good too and doesn't echo too badly.

Its still a web cam. The high res is ineterpolated from a 640X480 resolution. For a webcam in this price range, there was nothing that could compete with this unit at Christmas in 2008. Since then, another friend has bought the same camera and also reports great results with it.

This camera is a great value.
