1 out of 5 eggsLooks Great, Feels Great, Fails Fast

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: Very customizable. Feels sturdy. Looks great. Lots of features.

Cons: Within a month of owning the mouse, the laser became unreliable. Sometimes, the cursor would just shake when the mouse is moved. Other times, the cursor would move along only a single axis. At first, simply reconnecting the mouse would fix the problem, but it's gotten progressively worse over time, and now, it's simply not usable. It's not a cleaning issue.

Other Thoughts: I bought this mouse because it was on Maximum PC's Best of the Best for years, and I've agreed with their peripheral ratings in the past. To pay nearly $100 for a mouse of this quality and have it be anything less than completely reliable is unacceptable.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: Was great at first like others have stated, mainly for it's customization to fit your hand.

Cons: Red precision button never worked with any of my games. 2 side buttons (I used for TS, Vent) are bad and will die on you eventually. First button died after a couple of months, second lasted for a while before it is began failing. Gets dirty easy due to "open" areas.

Other Thoughts: Definitely not worth the money. Won't by a Mad Catz product ever again.

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Cons: Middle mouse button stopped working after about 4 months.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it.

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: Looks great and feels solid in hand. Customization is great, buttons nice and clicky. Overall good feel.

Cons: Laser failed within a few months of owning it, with moderate daily use. Seems like a pretty common problem according to many other online reviews. Pretty unsatisified.

Other Thoughts: This was my first attempt with MadCatz, I went back to Razer products after this failure.

4 out of 5 eggsOutstanding mouse. Needs care

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: The mouse is super modular with many different attachments and weights.
The mouse is true to hand size, and glides smoothly
6400dpi and adjustable via a button
Solid mouse
VERY breathable

Cons: Software is buggy, and button configs do not work with all games
Mouse builds up gunk fast
USB needs to be on a specific USB port and cannot be moved around
Drivers needed (semi plug and play)

Other Thoughts: About once a month, use a toothpick and remove gunk between parts from skin particles, gross but keeps it healthy. Also, make sure you sanitize it. (Gets stinky :p) other than that highly recommended

2 out of 5 eggsToo many problems for the money

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: The design as far as being comfortable is great, however, that is all that is good about it.

Cons: First off the mouse will disconnect randomly and i know other people are also having that issue. all you have to do is unplug and plug back in but in the middle of a game, that is not what you want to be doing.
I just upgraded my computer and when i downloaded the software again it will not detect the mouse, this means i cant change dpi or my buttons which is a huge problem, and with this i have been trying to contact customer support and honestly their support is close to immpossible to get a hold of, i was waiting in queue and then i guess they decided to go on break so i had to wait another hour.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: Its adjustable in many different ways, including length, width, and grip. Other than that...

Cons: Owned this for 5 months. Bought it from a better bye store thats local. Mouse laser just failed flat out for no reason whatsoever a few days ago. No, its not the mouse, its the laser. The buttons work perfectly. Yes...the buttons work PERFECTLY.

Other Thoughts: Madcatz customer support is...not a viable method of customer support. I bet I can support customer support quite well by the neck with the braided cord of this mouse. That is about the only use this mouse is good for now...seems like Saitek's quality has dwindled severely with the takeover of Madcatz. Will never buy another one of their products again.

2 out of 5 eggsDeluxe aspirations, but fails in the basics.

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: Incredibly customizable for length, weight, angle of the buttons and texture! The tool to make the adjustments resides on the mouse so you never lose it. Resolution changes can reliably be made on-the-fly with a lit indicator.

Cons: The buttons fail RAPIDLY. I have owned this mouse for about 4 months and mouse button 1 already requires a hard press to make it register and mouse button 5 barely works at all. Mine actually feels broken. The adjustable palm rest is very loose and is really unstable out at the largest position. This mouse has one of the best dedicated side scroll wheels ever put on a mouse. Unfortunately, the side scroll wheel does not work in Windows at all, and the included software doesn't make it work either.

Other Thoughts: I bought this mouse to replace my second Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 (both of which gave YEARS of hard service). I have big hands and need a big mouse. I saw this in the store (not Newegg, sorry guys) and loved that it could be adjusted for big hands. I loved that you could change the gripping texture so you could have the mouse tacky where you wanted and smooth where you wanted. I loved the INCREDIBLE metal side scroll thumb wheel. Then I got it home to find out the thumb wheel is basically a decoration for 90% of my computer use. I already have one button that doesn't function 80% of the time (button 5) and THE MOST IMPORTANT button on the way out as well (button 1). I really hoped I got a bad one, but judging from the reviews here, this thing is junk. Avoid it like the plague! I came to Newegg to find a quality replacement. I should have found me another Intellimouse and taken this thing back to the store while it was in the return period.

2 out of 5 eggsNice Concept

This review is from: Mad Catz R.A.T.7 Gaming Mouse for PC and Mac - Gloss Black

Pros: Very comfortable, a lot of cool features.Gave this two eggs just because the design, concept, and the feel of the mouse.

Cons: Since there are so many moving objects its bound to fail much earlier than a typical mouse would. I have had it for a week and have been on a gaming marathon for my days off and the thumb piece is about ready to fall off now. The palm rest is very shaky and it will wobble as well. I'm not hard on my mice nor do i do anything beyond what a mouse is supposed to be used for. Maybe it was just the one mouse that I received. No big deal I just will not be purchasing Mad Catz's products in the future.

Other Thoughts: I enjoy the fact that the "underbelly" of the mouse is nice. I would really like to see a full metal mouse like this one in the future with some gripping added to the top. Very heavy but you will not break if even if you wanted to.

I'm not telling anyone not to buy this product. I have heard a lot of amazing reviews about this mouse and very many people love it, guess i got the defect.

Have a great day everyone!
