Mad Catz R.A.T. 9 Wireless Gaming Mouse - Precision Aim Mode Mad Catz R.A.T. 9 Wireless Gaming Mouse - Take Control of Your Games

Precision Aim Mode

Hit your target the first time, every time. Use the included Mad Catz Programming Software to set your desired Precision Aim speed (mouse sensitivity), then hold down the Precision Aim button to slow down mouse movement to a level that works for you. You can even use the software to assign programmable features to the Precision Aim button, and then use it to execute keyboard commands like macros and keybindings - a deadly weapon that will hit your enemy exactly where it hurts the most.

Take Control of Your Games

With the included programming software, you can create an unlimited number of profiles. For example, create a unique profile for each game and/or characters or for different builds (sniper, tank, healer, and more). Within each profile, you can customize your DPI settings, set Precision Aim sensitivity, create powerful macros and set keybindings. Each profile allows for 18 user-definable commands via six programmable buttons over three modes.

Powerful Macro Programming

The R.A.T. 9 features six programmable buttons including the scroll wheel. Each button can be easily programmed to perform complex macros or simple key commands. You have the power to customize your R.A.T. for your games.

Customize Your DPI Settings

Four user-definable DPI settings range from 25 to 6400 and the DPI button lets you easily cycle through your custom settings.

3 out of 5 eggsCool device, not sure if worth the headache

Pros: -Programmable buttons (5) I dont count the 3 modes as it is not easy to change them while playing a game.
-Wireless*
-Has weights
-Can be configured to fit any (Right) hand.

*SEE CONS

Cons: -**Wireless, the batteries begin losing their charge VERY FAST after about 3 months, I have to swap them after 2 League matches (30-45 minute matches).
-The software DOES NOT SUPPORT AUTOMATIC PROFILE SWITCHING. you cannot link a profile to an EXE. THE COMPETITION DOES HAVE THIS FUNCTIONALITY.
-The sensor is EXTREMLEY sensetive if you have the mouse on a surface and either have your tower on youre desk or have a surround system in the room. as soon as the fans ramp up or the base comes on the sensor will pick up the vibrations and youre cursor WILL MOVE BY ITSELF. this has made many games frustrating as heck.

Other Thoughts: If you are dead set on a R.A.T get the 7 it is the same as this but with a wire so you dont have to worry about the mouse turning off while in a game.
-----
Overall the R.A.T 9 is NOT by any means a bad device, it simply has some quirks that are not present on some others.
I just ran out and bought the Corsair Scimitar to replace my R.A.T 9, automatic profile switching is fantastic. The Scimitar also has a wire, that was my #1 gripe with the R.A.T 9.

2 out of 5 eggsGood mouse while it lasted

Pros: Great aesthetic design fits very nice in my hand. very responsive and loads of extras. rechargeable batteries.

Cons: price and after 11/2 yrs it started acting up. the dpi settings would automatically change on its own. the tracking would go haywire and barely work. and it would start doing this at random and then it would run fine and then it would start doing it again. i currently still have the mouse in use because i cant afford another one at the moment but i was very sad to see after a yr and a half that i start having game breaking issues with it. especially since i paid 170$ for mine when i bought it.

Other Thoughts: i absolutely loved the mouse while it worked i had no complaints until the problems started. i looked into the issue and i was not the only one to have this issue with this particular mouse. so i want to recommend this mouse thinking i just ended up with a defective product but with others having the issue to it seems like a time bomb. great mouse other wise would love to buy again if they got the issues with it fixed. would have given 5 stars but with the issues i will still give it two because i truly loved it until the problems occured. for a 170 mouse i feel like i shouldget a minimum of 3yrs of use before i start having issues didnt even last 2.

2 out of 5 eggsRat 9 Dies After 2 Months of Light Use

Pros: Beautifully designed, and fits any hand perfectly

Cons: Died after 2 months of light use. I used this mouse no more and 1 hour a day and it crapped out on me after two months.

Other Thoughts: No refund or replacement was offered, but to be fair, the return policy doesn't cover anything that has been in use for 2 months.

1 out of 5 eggsBattery issue

Pros: Beautiful design and lovely to look at !!

Cons: One of the batteries was dead but would show green light when put in the dock station. Only way to get it to charge was to push down on the battery while in the dock and IT TAKES 3 HOURS TO CHARGE, so needless to say i sent this back. After looking on the internet I found others that had this issue and decided to just get a refund.

Other Thoughts: I loved looking at this mouse but since you can't plug a cable into it you have nothing to use as backup. I have used the Logitech G700 for a few years and totally recommend it since it has very nice software to macro keys to all the button. The rat 9 is way to expensive to have ANY issues imo.
