1 out of 5 eggspioneer water resistant earbuds

Pros: light weight, somewhat waterproof

Cons: did not last, the lightweight cords came apart under the earbud. After 2 months use only 1 earbud works

4 out of 5 eggsThey worked GREAT,

Pros: They worked great for the time that I had them. When I first got them (from the free rebate!), I was unsure of their performance. They looked pretty cool, and when I put them in, they fit with an AMAZING seal. I like the L jack on the headphones. The ability to wash them was really great, too. They became my lawnmowing headphones, mainly because if I grab the cable by accident, they did not come out. Yes they needed to be reseated in the ear, but at least they did not come out of the ear and into the mower, or get ripped off. Good thinking Pioneer. They soon after became my primary headphones. Treble and Bass are preety good. They are no creative EP headphones, but they deliver sound quality very well.

Cons: The problem with the seal is that they can't be reversed, as in the right headphone does not fit very well, if at all, in the left ear. But who does that? So not a big problem. The other problem is that the seal was so powerful that sometimes it hurt. Yes i am serious. The other problem is that the L angle on the connector was too thick on the outside, and did not sit well in my Casio Commando, which has an audio jack that sits a little inside the device.

Other Thoughts: They finally went soft on me today. However, I am a huge bass wubber and am not suprised that this happened. In fact, they lasted as long as my creatives. Points for durability.

5 out of 5 eggsNice headphones

Pros: I don't know what everyone else was listening to, but I really love these headphones. Nice clear Highs, and full Bass when I listen to my music. Fit nicely in me ear and come with different sizes if you need something smaller. They are just $18 headphones so I don't expect miracles, but they reproduce sound nicely. Most of my music is in FLAC so it sounds amazing to me.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Overall I recommend them if you just need basic headphones to play audio.

3 out of 5 eggsAlright

Pros: Strong cables, good rubber, and a very comfortable fit make them ideal for running. They also can be comfortably looped over the ears to get them to stay on while running, and I haven't noticed any problems from sweat.

Cons: The sound quality is bearable, but not much better. Music sounds pretty bad, and voice from audiobooks or lectures is scratchy and hard to understand, especially if the recording quality was only marginal to begin with.

Other Thoughts: They're great for sports, but terrible for listening. I pretty much only use these if I'm going running or something now, and have other headphones for everything else. Overall I was a little disappointed, but when I got them they were on sale for 20 bucks, and had a 20 dollar MIR, so for a free pair of headphones I have to say the hassle was worth it.

Cons: Limited sound spectrum - doesn't sound full. Would not want to pay more than $2-3.

3 out of 5 eggsBuy them on Sale

Pros: With less expensive earbuds, a particular frequency range is often emphasized, which can actually be fun. With these Pioneers, the emphasis is on "mid highs" – I'm guessing around 4 to 6K – which puts the focus on snares, hi hats, crunchy guitars, high pitched instruments, and the upper regions of vocals. It's an adventure – you might hear things in familiar songs that you've never heard before...

Cons: On the other hand, bass frequencies are virtually absent. Maybe this is a trade-off for the waterproof design. Whatever the reason, it's just not there.

Other Thoughts: With the above qualifications, music is clear and accurate and non-fatiguing on these earbuds. But unless they're super sturdy (and I haven't owned them long enough to say) the price doesn't seem justified. Maybe wait for a good sale...
