2 out of 5 eggsDurability is extremely poor!

Pros: 7.1 Sound quality is great, ear comfort is good... not great, boom Mic flip up auto mutes, wireless, great range, and long battery life.

Cons: It's unfortunate that with all the Pro's I listed above only a few Con's really overshadow the positives.
- Durability of the ear cups break away much too easily. Once the ear cup breaks off you'll immediately see why. There are 3 anchor screws that amount to the size you would typically see on eye glasses holding the arms onto the frame. The plastic in which they are anchored is obviously not sufficient. My ear cups are now held together by electrical tape and super glue.
- MIC volume is much too much low as all have previously stated. No software MIC boost period. The knob on the headset will only slightly boost the MIC. This is big negative if you ever plan on recording your voice while recording any game videos.
- Proper setup is a mystery for lack of any good instructions. FYI, to get the best possible sound quality and record quality use the optical connector, set default playback device to optical REALTEK or what ever your sound card is(disable USB/GMX), and set default recording device to Skullcandy transmitter.

Other Thoughts: So close and yet so far. Fixing durability would get this headset a solid 3.5-4 egg review... assuming you are not a youtuber video game recorder. Fixing the MIC would get this a solid 5 egg review. Hopefully they can address these short comings in the next version.

1 out of 5 eggssub-par, unpolished, and no mic boost (PC)

Pros: The build quality is very nice. They have a good weight to them, and the sound quality is what we've all come to expect from Skullcandy's line of products. They're easy to connect and are compatible with PCs, PS3's, and Xbox 360's. I think with an adapter it also works with PS4 and Xbox One from what I've read.

Cons: Despite the otherwise perfect design of the device there's some serious issues for those looking to use them with a PC (which was my primary concern). Since these were going to replace my Logitech G930's I have certain expectations. The first MAJOR issue is the mic's volume of the PLYR 1's is extremely low and people had a hard time hearing me without having to seriously crank up my specific volume in things like Teamspeak. I'm still wondering how this will work with games like Titanfall where that's not an option. This issue is compounded by the fact that they offer no supporting software. With the G930's there was a full range of software based tweaks to compensate for things like this (regardless of windows versions). Skullcandy disappointingly only made a driver and leaves the rest up to Windows. Windows 8 and 8.1 do NOT have mic boost, so that's the end of that. They can point the finger at Microsoft (as I'm sure they probably will), but the fact still remains that other vendors like Logitech didn't take the lazy route and due to that don't have the same issues/frustrations. This issue alone makes them unusable (Google it there's a ton of us saying the same thing). To make matters worse there's very little documentation. Their instructions are literally one page and look like a captioned comic book... which would be fine if everything were that easily installed, but they're not. There's a ton of opinions about how best use them with a PC. Some people say "just connect the USB", others say "USB doesn't give you 7.1, you need to use the fiber optic connection to get that"...etc. I've spent a few hours looking through the web sites and I can't find any official answers about that. I do know however that my new Asus X79 board that has fiber out isn't compatible with the fiber in on these headphones (despite being set correctly with DTS or even Stereo). So I'm looking at having to get a sound card now if there's any truth to the 7.1 not being utilized via the USB. Over all I would have to say I expected a lot more from Skullcandy's brand, let alone for the price I paid for these. They may be great for consoles, but since that's not why I bought them, and since they advertised them as "PC gamer's headphones", I have to say I'm really disappointed since they don't live up to that.

Other Thoughts: This is my first Skullcandy product and for music they're wonderful, but given the situation it's probably going to be a while before I trust this brand again. They're reputation is one of high quality, but this experience has left me feeling like they're lackluster and just getting a product out the door with very little testing prior to release. Ten minutes with any PC gamer running Windows 8 or 8.1 and they would have known these aren't ready for prime time use. That in my opinion is a real shame since these could have been wonderful headphones. They have a great deal of potential that's just not been realized due to minor issues that cause major problems.

3 out of 5 eggsSKULLCANDY PLYR 1 Headset

Pros: -Sound quality is great on these!
-Super Light weight for wireless!
-Comfort . Fixes my smaller sized head great.

Cons: - Durability. Ive owned two set. First have piece rattling loosely inside. RMA it and the second had the same. Second pair also had an earpiece break off without dropping just over time the screw holes fractured and i had to use Liquid nails for repair..
- MIC VOLUME IS LOW! Even maxing all audio adjustments its still very quiet.

Other Thoughts: In closing i would not recommend this product for the price you are paying. Go Astro a40 or 50 or a lower end Sennheiser headset.

1 out of 5 eggsThey break very very easily!

Pros: Yes they sound great, yes they look good, yes the memory foam is nice on the ears, and yes they are pretty light weight plus great battery life making them awesome for long gaming sessions. But beware, it only last 2-3 months for me with just normal use.

Cons: But unfortunately, all of those great things about these headsets were shortlived by the choice of materials and fastening components used in the production of the headset. You may find the negative reviews about how the earcups breaking away from the headband prematurely, they are all true. It is obviously a design fault, and inadequate product testing and quality control before the product was being rolled out of the factory. The 3 small screws securing the earcups to the headband would rip the plastic threads out, because the plastic material used is too thin, too weak, and too brittle. The joints between the headband and the earcups are usually subject to most stresses even at normal use, but that factor was completely disregarded during the design process and no effort was shown to reinforce the fixture(even by adding another plastic plate to thicken that area would help). Another possible hit to the engineering design department could be that the screws were overtightened during the assembly of the product, but either way... the product was poorly engineer and the promotional video now simply makes the people explaining how the product came about look like they didn't really know what they were doing.

Other Thoughts: All in all, these headsets only look good and sound good, but the lifespan is way too short and you need to be handling them like how you would handle eggs because they break so easily.
Stage 2 of horrible experience with Skullcandy is their warranty department. Make sure you read all the fine prints because they only cover the functionality parts(i.e. no sound, no power etc.) for 1 year only, but not when it breaks physically because that would be users' fault or mishandling(eventhough technically if the earcups break away from the headset, it diminished its function as a headset as well, but they don't cover that). They encourage you to send the product back at your own cost, but they won't promise that they will a replacement or send the faulty product back to you. Plus you need to wait 4-6 weeks before they tell you what they are going to do. The website posted instructions on how to make warranty claim, with contact email address and phone number. Try emailing them, they will take about 3-4 days before they send a reply to you with the exact instructions you see on their webpage. Try calling them, they will ask for all the details they specified on their webpage, and telling you that you will receive further instructions in your email, and guess what? You will get an email with the exact instructions you see on their webpage, asking for the exact information which you have already relayed to them over the phone. So talking to any of them is as good as talking to a machine or a wall, and still, there is no guarantee that they will fix it or replace it, and there is no way they are giving you a refund.
So if you don't mind buying a new headset every 2-3 months, these are great! Otherwise....stay far far away.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked well for awhile...

Pros: Great sound quality, range, battery life, and VERY comfortable (can where for 6 hours and it not hurting)

Cons: DURABILITY IS BAD. I mean wow.... When I first bought these headphones there was a slight creaking sound on the right side near the earcups but I didn't think much of it. The other day (6 months later) while just attempting to put them on my head the plastic part around the earcup snapped (with the 3 little cheap screws) and had to send em back to skullcandy for my 1 year warranty. Now i probably wont get a new pair back for another month. If these were more durable without the cheap plastic then they would be one of the best headphones ever. Beware buyer that these can EASILY break.

3 out of 5 eggsNice but my mic broke with hardly any use

Pros: Sound good, nice looking, crystal clear, long range.

Cons: Ear cup design is too small. The microphone would be SO much better if it was like the SLYR's. ITs flimsy and spins around. Mine broke out of the blue.

Other Thoughts: I went back to my G35's because of the broken mic. Its a bad design period.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality, Made to fail product

Pros: Great sound, great signal coverage, can move across rooms with ease without distortion.

Cons: Poor quality, cup material cannot be removed to wash it. I bought this in September 2013 and the left air piece broke off. it broke off just where the 3 screw hold the cup into the headset. The screws go into little plastic pillars that have no cross hair wing support so this basically was made to fail over time.

I am 48 years old and very careful with my stuff and always put the headset on its cradle after use. This item snapped off just putting on my head.

Unacceptable for a $200.00 headset. Never buying from this company again.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap quality

Pros: The wireless signal is very strong. I can move to other rooms of my apartment and still get a signal.

Cons: Ear piece broke after less then a year. Its snapped at the plastic bosses for the screws that hold the top band on. Part broke off while trying to place the headset on my head. There was no misuse on my part. Just cheap plastic design. Not something you should get for 200 dollars.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Headset

Pros: sound is ok?

Cons: For what you get its expensive
Not very comfortable
fabric that collects oil from skin, dirt, hair.. and best of all Cannot be removed to wash...
Mic will not pick up your voice unless it is basically inside your mouth, but if you manage to get the sweet spot it sounds ok.
-Poor quality (cheap) mine is rattling inside and the only time I ever dropped them was off my head and onto my lap. (2 feet?)
NO dirvers? no updates?
Some games experience audio distortions, like wolfenstien, which is basically unplayable with this headset.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money. I will likely not buy skullcandy again.
