5 out of 5 eggsStands by me

Pros: Probably sometime in 2010, I bought this mouse on a half-whim, half-need on a visit to a major retailer once known for smileys, rollbacks, and a movie starring Natalie Portman. I don't remember how much I paid, but the price was fair, and I'm sure it's cheaper now.

I needed a mouse to use with my netbook and travel with me on an every day basis. So I picked this one out because it was cheap but not an off-brand. I was aware that this mouse would be wired and fell somewhere in size between a purely notebook mouse and a full-sized desktop mouse. Since then, this mouse form factor has become my mouse of choice.

This HP mouse has withstood being carried, day in and day out, in a backpack usually filled with various technological accoutrements, plugged in, plugged out, cord wound around the mouse over and over, etc., etc., run late nights, early mornings, and still works just fine. It's been dropped a few times onto commercial carpet floors and the like, and no issues.

This is why I like wired mice, and this is a good one. It's basic and does just what I want it to, and puts up with a lot of travel. I don't deliberately abuse it.

In fact, it wasn't until I read this review that I was aware it is a 1000 DPI mouse. No wonder it tracks so well.

I personally prefer the scroll on this mouse more than I do the Microsoft mice of old, with their ribbed scroll wheels. While this one is smooth in texture, it is nonetheless made of a rubbery material and has quiet little detents in it for each line you scroll.

To paraphrase Lee Iacocca, "If you can find a better mouse, buy it." I would use this mouse all day, every day, and have, not just for mobile use, but on the desk as well. I just got it out for the fun of it and it's slightly beating out my new OEM Dell corporate-grade mouse in terms of control precision.

Buy this mouse if you don't want anything fancy, just want to get the job done reliably.

Cons: The two front silicone feet are long gone, but the mouse keeps on mousing, even on a variety of bare tabletop surfaces.

4 out of 5 eggsFollow up

Pros: Very comfortable, the tracking is PERFECT, and works suprisingly well on fps games. I bought this because i needed a cheap mouse to save for one of those fancy gaming mice and i ended up just keeping it. Its simple and works. It really is smoothe and accurate. I liked it so much i bought a wireless version thats the same design and look but its terrible for fps games since the polling rate is below 125 (which most gaming mice are 1000, 125 is fine though)

Cons: I cant tell you how many times i had to cut out special gliding pads for this thing, and i eventually had to buy another one from e**y for 10 dollars just to swap the board because the button went bad. I also had to replace the plastic shell once too. Its definitly not reliable for gaming as much as i do. But still a good choice.

Other Thoughts: Use this and save up for a g400,g5,g500, or g500s
I like the g500 the best since its optical (the liftheight is very very low unlike this mouse where you can pick it up 10mm and it still detects which can get annoying for sniping)
and the g500 is braided and very comfortable. Gaming mice also have a ton of replacement parts on e**y, including wires, gliders, and the plastic shells, all i had to replace once with this thing.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage Mouse

Pros: Fits my hand pretty well.
Nice looking mouse.

Cons: The left click button is wearing out. At the moment it recognizes about 90% of my left clicks( unless I push down hard).
Dirt collects in the separation between the center plastic and outer plastic on the top.

Other Thoughts: Average doesn't mean bad.
I go through at least one of the so called $10-$20 mice a year so this one is on pace to wear out. Again, average. If you get it at a good single digit price(or close to it)....and are NOT a power user this would be a great mouse.

Click buttons are not loud but not very quiet either.
The center button/wheel works very smoothly.

5 out of 5 eggsBest mouse i ever owned

Pros: Very comfortable Affordable and better than any over percise mouse out there. 1000 dpi is simple and it works

Cons: Its wired And the gliders wore out a little bit only after a few days my corsair m60 had massive gliders which took a while to wore down. it wasnt very comfortabel and was hard to use this is simply the best mouse i ever had

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for a basic mouse

Pros: Cheap, great basic mouse, scroll has stops, takes abuse.

Cons: It's very basic, no fancy features.

Other Thoughts: I've had one for almost a year now. This mouse is awesome! You can't beat it for the price. The cord hangs down behind the keyboard tray and continually gets trapped under our shoes. The cord usually gets pulled on quite hard when we move our feet, but it hasn't damaged it at all. This mouse has worked great for me. I installed it in XP and then in Windows 7 when I upgraded to a new computer. No installation required on either computer, it self-installed. Most mouses do though.

3 out of 5 eggsTHE BEST for the money! (UPDATE)

Cons: The click button under the scroll wheel no longer works.

3 out of 5 eggsInconveniet shape and too light but works

Pros: Works, no cursor jumps, the wheel is reasonably smooth. Would be perfect for it's price if the shape was different.

Cons: This is simply the most inconvenient mouse I have ever had. It just does not fit my hand right. The ridges on each side and thinner lower part are culprits, I guess. It is too light too which makes aiming less accurate.

Other Thoughts: If the mouse was shaped ifferently and had a bit more weight, it would work much better for me. What's a problem with adding a bit more weight to cheap mice?

4 out of 5 eggsit's a mouse

Pros: It's a usb mouse, what do you want?

Cons: You can get a 1000dpi, 3 button, usb mouse practically anywhere. Getting it from a walk-in store would be quicker and cheaper.

Other Thoughts: I got this because my new motherboard only had one ps/2 port. I haven't played any "serious" games (i.e. FPSes like TF2 or STALKER), but I haven't had any "spazzes" yet.
