4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It work fine no problems.

Cons: Not enough pixels if low quality bothers you. I plan to got at least 8 MP on the next one I buy.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor quality, fake info, 640x480 camera

Pros: It works!

No drivers needed as it uses standard video interface. Works well in Linux and Windows.

Manual focus is a plus (for me at least).

Cons: Poorly made. The little screw that holds the housing of the camera body wasn't even in as the camera arived in semi-broken condition. The threading was basically torn off. QA?

Specs are lies - expect a standard webcam. Resolution is 640x480, as other webcams at this price point.

I was not able to change FPS from 30Hz capture. Limited controls.

Other Thoughts: USB idVendor - 0x1871 - Aveo Technology Corp

The one that arrived today (May, 2012) has QA sticker dated Oct. 2012.. Old stock??

MaxPower = 500mA (2.5W) - not for laptops?? It probably uses as much considering the housing gets warm after a few minutes.

NEWEGG: scr3w is a normal word, censoring it is not very cool. Maybe review reviews instead???

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: Fairly inexpensive.

Cons: First one would not focus. BTB stripped focusing mechanism. RMA'd back to newegg. Second one will focus but the quality of the image is very poor. Image is washed out with very little color or depth. Additional lighting was not very helpful. Would not recommend this product.

Other Thoughts: Not worth having to pay $9.95 return shipping. Suggest Newegg pay all return shipping and handling, on verified defective parts.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: Low cost

Cons: Poor quality construction, cheap. Video/picture is hard to focus and provides a white washed image. When trying to focus, the lens feels loose and about ready to fall out. Could just be the one I got as the box looked like it had been opened previously. Quality of audio was weak and tinny. Will RMA today.

Other Thoughts: Two eggs only for easy of setting up, requires no drivers. I will be considering another brand with better quality.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: It's small? And shiny?

Cons: These cameras are NOT HD. And you certainly don't get 2560x2048 resolution. I can't understand how they get away with making those claims. They're okay for closeups in dim lighting. That's about it.

Other Thoughts: They must be sturdy because USPS beat the tar out of the box it came in...

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: dirt cheap.

Cons: Doesn't like to work all the time. randomly cuts out, usually comes back with a quick disable and re-enable of cam on Skype..

Other Thoughts: i don't even know what the "button" does.

i wouldn't buy this product or manufacturer again, it came in an open Microsoft webcam box

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, if you remember to focus

Pros: Great quality video, and no software installation necessary.

Cons: The cord might make it a little hard to plug in the mic line. I haven't used it, so I don't know how good it is.

Other Thoughts: You NEED to twist the lens once it's set up, to focus it. Without it, the image will look very blurry, but once it's adjusted, the image is crystal clear.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good little thing

Pros: Cheap.
Feels very sturdy. Will fit on any monitor, even on the desk standing up.
BIG improvement from built-in laptop.
NO or very little shudder with movement- pretty good pickup.

Cons: I had to take it apart to change the placement of the internal circuity. A single screw was all the was required to take out. The thing came loaded with the CMOS on a tilt, so the capture was on a tilt. Was pretty funny, actually. Took 2 minutes to fix.

Other Thoughts: It's a 20 dollar webcam- what can you expect? Works pretty good for what it is. Some say it over-heats. All webcams get warm after periods of use.
Have not tested the microphone.

also the little button on top of mine is stuck/doesn't work. Probably due to poor packaging. It came in a bubble mailed with no additional materials, and was pretty well banged up. The box it came in didn't have a top flap anymore.
But on that I blame USPS. UPS is a much better service.

Again, I'm really impressed with the whole thing. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, and works out of the box, no additional things to install. Driver-less is truly driver-less. For 20 bucks it's the best thing you'll see until you hit the $60+ price-points.
