3 out of 5 eggsEh

Pros: The multiple ear buds helped provide a variety of fittings. The cord quality was high. The connection to the device was firm.

Cons: The bass was missing. I was replacing a thread bare pare of MEElectronics buds that had great bass. The ones I was replacing were <$20, I thought this pair would be an improvement. Sad to be returning them so soon.

1 out of 5 eggsCan't give zeo eggs for $$ lost

Pros: I can use the zippered case for something else.

Cons: Both R and L earbuds work. If only one worked, I would hear only half of the tinny, scratchy, squaky noise these buds make. Terrible sound! If the first two good reviews weren't from their CEO, I'm surprised any company wouldn't test enough of a batch to stop these from getting to market. I threw them away. Waste of $$

Other Thoughts: I wrote a similar review months ago but it never appeared. Maybe I typed something against the rules -- like wondering how anyone could sell these.

1 out of 5 eggsDied with under 5 hours of use

Pros: -Great cord, looks great and doesn't get tangled
-Sound is good, not over-powered by bass (if you want ear buds that BOOM, these are not for you)

Cons: -I only pull these things out periodically when I'm at work, they have under 5 hours of use on them and are always cared for and stored in their case yet somehow the one ear bud managed to almost entirely die out, it is about 20% the volume of the other one (I tested in opposite ears to make sure it wasn't my hearing!)

-Not too happy given these were about $50 and didn't even last past their break in period

1 out of 5 eggssame as previous review that's missing

Pros: Had good reviews, so I bought a pair. Both left and right side earbuds work. The case is pretty nice. In fact, I still use the case.

Cons: Both left and right earbuds work. If only one side worked, these would only make half the grating, disappointing screech they do. I can't believe MEE would release a product without comparing it to what's out there or without testing a higher sample rate per lot after receiving customer complaints. I would caution against buying these (see other thoughts) unless one was willing to keep returning them until they got a pair to rave about.

Other Thoughts: Accepting that other reviewers who like this product are not deaf and the ones they received actually sound good, it implies MEE has a non-robust design with variables in the assembly process or subcomponent supply chain that may pass electrical tests but create frequent deficient product. Being ISO certified -- if MEE is -- does not mean they have a good Cpk index (repeatable output). Maybe after I retire, I'll send you (MEE) my resume and we can work on the problem. Last item: I wrote a similar 1-egg review on this model last year but that review seems to have disappeared. Mmmmmm....what happened there?

2 out of 5 eggsGreat sounding, but be careful

Pros: Pretty good sounding headphone. Customer service is fantastic.

Cons: Unfortunately, you have to be extremely cautious with this headphone. I blew out the right speaker three times. They replaced the headphone the first time free of charge. The second time, it was under warranty and they charged me $25 dollars for a new pair. Third time, I gave up and bought myself a pair Klipsch x10s on black friday. There's no way or reason why these headphones should have blown the same right speaker 3 times within 3 months.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Midrange and lower freq detail.
Cable.
Comfort.
Price.

Cons: Lack of highs!
Lack of highs!
Lack of highs!

Other Thoughts: These headphones are seriously veiled in the top octave or so, perhaps to the point of being a fatal flaw. I want to be able to hear tape hiss, or musicians breathing, or the airy effects of the recording venue, or the shimmering of cymbal crashes. Even with an EQ boost that detail and high freq extension is missing with the A151. In this regard they are miles from my modified Sony MDR-EX70. However in fairness the Sony's are even more revealing in the highs than my more expensive hole-modded wooded Grado 325i's. But sadly the A151's high's don't even remotely approach the Grado's.

But it's not all bad news about the A151. From the midrange on down there is EXCELLENT detail and heft. Lyrics, both male and female, are easier to understand compared to my Sony's AND Grado's for instance. Guitars too are better rendered. And with the small tips (allowing the exit tube to be as close as possible to the eardrum) bass is reasonably weighty (but still not in Grado hole modded territory) and

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product, great cord

Pros: I'm no headphone expert, but these sound a little better than my old RE0s. Similar general sound - very clean and balanced. Got these on sale, and they were a great deal for nice-sounding budget headphones. The best part: The cord. This weird-looking thing produces NO annoying brushing sound whatsoever, unlike every other in-ear-style headphone I've owned. Seems really sturdy too.

Cons: I listen to music on the bus a lot, and I find the bass gets drowned out compared to some other products. This is not bass-heavy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget Balanced Armature

Pros: These are great IEMs, especially if you get them on sale. The sound signature is definitely darker than my previous IEMs (Ety ER-6i), and only a little cooler than most sub-$40 IEMs. The secret to enjoying these earbuds is the choice of eartips. If you're looking for a lot of bass, then the Sony Hybrid eartips are the ones for you (it's the only eartips I've used since a month ago). If you use the stock double-flange eartips, then the bass is, in comparison, a lot weaker, and will only be apparent on deep insertion. You definitely won't hear or feel the bass on the train with the stock eartips.

The rest of the sound spectrum is typical for a BA, it has articulate, almost sparkling highs and very smooth mids. Check out the reviews on Head-Fi for more information.

Cons: Despite being a BA, the highs were less pronounced and much darker on the highs compared to my Ety's. Then again, Ety's are considered very cold and highs were the only thing that the budget Ety's excelled at.

Other Thoughts: The fit and comfort of these IEMs are great, they go over your ear and the cable is amazingly soft and pliable. You have to try these, especially if you need a cheap pair of good IEMs.

2 out of 5 eggsThese sound good?

Pros: I like the braided cord and general design of the product.
That is the only reason for giving it two stars.

Cons: These sound absolutely terrible to me.

Other Thoughts: I am an audio engineer with 20 years experience. This is my first experience with a balanced armature earbud, I based my purchase on these reviews.
I can best describe the sound as harsh. I absolutely hate harsh midrange and this has plenty of it. What bass there is is tight, but there is very little of it. There are highs but I honestly couldn't listen to the earbuds long enough to describe them.
Perhaps the frequency response is flat, but the human ear does not have the same curve, we are tuned to hear voice. Often times a device will be tuned with a mid range cut to provide our ears with a more balanced listening experience. Some manufacturers these days, such as speaker manufacturer KRK, are tuning their speakers to be more flat, which actually winds up sounding to the human ear as a midrange boost which is probably what is happening with these ear buds. I really can't think of a musical style that these would sound good with.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat headphones for the price

Pros: Clear and detailed sound quality.
Solid BA for the price (got for $45)
Very comfortable, but in my experience the Klipsch s4 provides more comfort.
If you want a more detailed description of its sound signature check the reviews on Head-fi

Cons: Straight jack rather than 90 degree angled headphone jack

Other Thoughts: Listening to music through a COWON D3
Files range from 320kps mp3s and FLAC
