4 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset.

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: Easy to set up.
No additional software necessary to make use of the 7.1 feature.
Comfortable on my unusually big head.
Threaded cables on both the Headset and its additional sound card.
Sound is of surprisingly great quality, Microphone quality also sound great, but obviously as great as a desk microphone.
They are very noise cancelling, which is great when the family decides to be as loud as a frat party.

Cons: faint popping sound when speaking on Discord, it's really faint but it's not a real issue at the moment. Will update if it gets worse.

Other Thoughts: I was actually very surprised with the quality of construction of the Hyper X Cloud II. They are very sturdy compare to my Playstation Gold stereo headset, with is very flimsy and the construction quality feels very cheap.

2 out of 5 eggsNot a good microphone

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: The headset is great, really! Comfortable, good range, etc.

Cons: The mic is doing a lot, like A LOT of static in games (CS:GO, Arma 3, etc) and in discord lobbies or Skype calls.

Other Thoughts: We'll see what the support team does about this, but I really like Kingston's products, I have ram, a SSD and had a Cloud 1 (that I loved and used for 1 year without any problems).

4 out of 5 eggsSounds great, but mic problems with Windows 10

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: - Great build quality
- Great frequency response
- Clear sound, low distortion
- Good sound isolation
- Fits well on larger heads/ears
- Long, sheathed cables
- Good assortment of accessories

Cons: - Mic volume problems with Windows 10
- 7.1 seems gimmicky (like enhanced stereo depth, without any noticeable change in positional sound)

Other Thoughts: Overall, I still recommend this headset. It is made well and is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The sound is very rich and clear and sounds great with games, movies, and music. The bass is clean, but not booming. The big downside is the mic when using Windows 10. When you select the mic under audio devices, the volume slider is fixed at 0%. The in-line USB control has a mic volume control which beeps when you press it, but it doesn't seem to change the mic volume. Cortana barely registers any volume during the mic setup. Hopefully, a driver update or some other solution will arrive soon.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat sound and comfortable untill they stop working.

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: Nice and comfortable. Soft padding around ears and on top. I like that since I have no hair on top. Good sound, that is while they worked. I think I could tell directional sound somewhat. I think as much as you could with software driven 7.1. Looks nice and came in a pretty box.

Cons: Didn't even last two months. I am very disappointed. I shopped a long time reading reviews and magazine articles. I didn't really want to spend so much money on a headset as it is hard on my budget. All the things I read, said I should spend the extra money and get these "best 7.1 headset on the market" headphones. I'm so tired of faulty hardware, and broken promises.
Yesterday I used the headphones and they were just fine. I turned off my computer in the evening and went to bed. This evening I turned on my computer and no sound. I tried to turn up the volume, checked the settings in windows,ETC. no sound I unplugged the usb and plugged it back in and got a message from windows, "USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED. THE LAST USB DEVICE YOU CONNECTED TO THIS COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED AND WINDOWS DOES NOT RECOGNIZE IT." I checked Device Manager and found ! in usb devices. I then decided to take the headset upstairs to my other computer to make sure it wasn't a driver or something. I got the same message. "USB DEVISE NOT RECOGNIZED..... ETC"
Buyer remorse has now set in. I see now that there have been several more negative ratings since I purchased these.

Other Thoughts: If they don't work, I can't recommend them no matter how they felt, looked, or sounded. Kingston needs to use higher quality parts on the inside. Bought these on 1/21/16 received them on 1/30/16 Dead on 3/14/16 Sad.

3 out of 5 eggsFeel good

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: Great sound. Getting back into gaming so my hearing perception may be a little off....

Cons: THE MIC DOESN'T WORK WITH WIN10!!!!! I've gone into the sound panel to try to switch my defaults.... nothing. I even scoured the internet forums and this is a GIGANTIC issue. Inside CS:GO I can't communicate. Sucks :(

1 out of 5 eggsMic gave out after 2 months

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: Great sound quality
Great build quality
Good for price

Cons: After only about two months the little dongle decided not to work for me. Kind of a bummer considering it proceeded to project static instead of my voice and sometimes didn't work at all. Not sure if this is a just a dud or if it's a common problem. I guess just be careful when ordering?

Other Thoughts: I would recommend it if you're willing to take a risk. Other than the bad dongle and the mic taking a huge dump, its a great headset.

2 out of 5 eggsGood sound, horrible sound card.

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: For the first 3 weeks I had great quality sound
Comfortable

Cons: Audio started popping and cracking everytime I listen to music and talk to friends, this may be due to the sound card.

Other Thoughts: This audio popping/cracking is incredibly annoying.

3 out of 5 eggsFairly decent for the money but rubbish sound card

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: Bought the headset a few months ago to replace a dying cheaper turtle beach x12. It worked great for the first 3 months, the virtual surround worked wonders for my fps play as well as movie watching.

Cons: Now for the bad news. The inline sound card is rubbish. I don't know what happened to mine, but the after the first few months it randomly started cutting out on me when I move the chord (the chord connecting the card to the PC that is) while the headset chord itself continues to work fine.

Other Thoughts: All-in all it would be a solid 5 eggs for the headset if the sound card didn't stop working on me. I don't know if mine is defective or not, however from what I've read this same problem has happened to several other people as well which makes me skeptical to even consider buying a replacement from them. Would be nice if I could purchase a replacement sound card though.

1 out of 5 eggsComfortable, but has sound issues

This review is from: HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound for PC/PS4/Mac/Mobile - Red

Pros: The headset is extremely comfortable and fits my head perfectly. The braided cord is nice as well.

Cons: I came from SteelSeries Siberia V2's which also had virtual 7.1 through the dongle. It sounded so much better. I'm not sure if I'm just not used to the headset, or if I have a defective headset. I just don't want to RMA the headset and be without one for a while. There's a lot of issues with a crackling noises and sometimes I can't even hear where certain sounds are coming from. I'm still debating on returning the product and just getting a different headset.

Other Thoughts: If there was a way that HyperX would just send me another headset without me having to return this one, I'd stay with this headset. Build wise, it's probably the nicest headset I've used in a while. It's extremely comfy.

Manufacturer Response:
