The circumaural, closed-back design offers the long-term playing comfort and immersive multi-channel audio that you demand as a gamer, with a unidirectional noise-canceling microphone that lets you be heard loud and clear, and audio controls that are easy to use without taking your head out of the game. And because you can't design a great gaming headset without first building a superior pair of headphones, the HS1 uses massive 50mm drivers and carefully tuned acoustical design for pristine reproduction and no-compromises enjoyment of your favorite music and multi-channel movies.

The rugged, compact design with replaceable earpads complete the HS1's mission of not only being an audio weapon of choice for intense gaming sessions, but a well-loved piece of enthusiast gear that will meet all your audio needs.

  • newegg Amazing Sound Massive, 50mm drivers greatly reduce the overloading that can occur with 40mm headsets. They deliver more accurate sound reproduction, particularly for low-frequency effects. And, they're less likely to cause the distortion that can make it hard to discern voices and other important audio cues when everything is coming at you fast.
  • newegg Intense, Immersive Gaming The circumaural, closed-back design blocks distracting sounds and keeps your head in the game. Dolby Headphone surround sound lets you enjoy multi-channel games the way they were intended to be played, with positional cues that put you into the environment in a way that stereo headsets simply can't.
  • newegg Built for Comfort Not only do the soft, plush fabric earcup covers have better acoustic properties than leatherette — they're also better at absorbing moisture, too. Underneath, memory foam earpads provide a comfortable, reliable fit that confirms to the shape of your head without binding or pinching.
  • newegg Not just for games — great for music and movies, too We began with an obsessive approach to earcup design — tuning and re-tuning the orientation of the 50mm drivers and the baffle geometry to deliver a frequency response curve that reproduces every bit of sonic detail. The result is a headset that truly respects the music.

2 out of 5 eggsEnjoy em while they last

Pros: Comfortable, good sound quality, long durable cord

Cons: Cheaply made, good luck with "customer support"

Other Thoughts: After about 9 months, the volume lower button on the control unit broke. Shortly after, the whole case broke apart and the wiring/panel below is now exposed. Since it's an in-line volume control, it's only a matter of time before the now exposed wires give out and render this back into the $5 worth of plastic it started from.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat till they weren't

Pros: Best headsets I'v owned, worked well for over 2 years.
Fit my big head, and could ware them for hours in comfort.

Cons: The inline control box, It's not real useful and eventually killed caused stress on the mic cable the killed the headset.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad value, lasted a good long time before breaking.
The Dolby multi-channel effect was a little weak.
Mic has no noise canceling effect.

2 out of 5 eggsSo Angry

Pros: Extremely Comfortable, Great sound quality

Cons: there seems to be a known problem with the microphone and no one seems to be able to fix it.

Other Thoughts: I've had this headset for a year and a half now. It was wonderful at first, though I did have to not use corsairs drivers. All of a sudden my wires are shorting out for the sound, so it only plays out of one ear unless im sitting just right, and I got up yesterday and my mic stopped working. I mean, it's been crackley for a while now but it all of a sudden just stopped working. I'm disappointed! I would expect this from a $30 Logitech, but not a $100 corsair. I will probably never buy a corsair headset again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We're sorry for the inconvenience, please fill out an RMA request on the Corsair Support Page and we'll be more than happy to replace the headset for you.

Thank you,
Corsair Customer Support

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sounds good. Very long cable. Extremely comfortable.

Cons: USB.

Other Thoughts: I normally hate installing drivers for anything but my graphics card; this won't work without them, but they actually stay out of the way and are quite useful.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat headset, when it works.

Pros: The headset sounds amazing when it's working, it's also VERY comfortable, I wore mine several hours every day and never had problems (and comfort is my major complaint about most headsets).

Cons: This headset has broken on me 3 times. The first two the sound started to get staticy, and I had to RMA them. Now, my 3rd pair has a short in it and the sound cuts out 90% of the time, at this point, I'm not going to bother with an RMA, I'm sick of dealing with it. Also, I get a lot of complaints that I sound like I'm talking into a tin can from the mic.

3 out of 5 eggsGood headset when it worked

Pros: Had this headset for almost a year now. Great 5.1 surround sound headset, Below Average Bass. Comfortable Got it on sale for 50 bucks. Great Mic crisp and clear.

Cons: The sound cut out almost completely, some kind of shortage in the the wiring somewhere, there is no damage to the wire itself but somewhere inside it is. My friend has the same problem with he wire shortage, we got our headphones at the same time...weird. I treat my headphones with care I don't throw them around. It's also brittle where ear cuff and slider connect so be careful. I had to epoxy it together. I read of posts of this happen to someone else with pictures, same exact thing. Beware when you buy these, they are very fragile, but good sound overall.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Headset

Pros: It was good, got the job done and was comfortable. I swear by Corsair products.

Cons: Wires fried to the inside plastic.

Other Thoughts: Kinda sad I had to see it go, but it is the reason why I keep a backup headset. Sad thing to see that an old Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 that I have had for 3+ years now and is held together with duct tape outlast this nice Corsair one.

4 out of 5 eggsFair performance, poor mic.

Pros: Good, overall, audio performance. Nice feeling on the ears, and very friendly for those with big heads.

Cons: Microphone is an utter failure. It picks up nothing, then everything, so you've got to be careful about how you position it.

Other Thoughts: Overall, an excellent headset. I could recommend it to those who are casual gamers, and those that want to drown out the world. If you're looking for something to chat with you could do worse, but these aren't exactly the best things out there.

2 out of 5 eggsAt first great, but then let down

Pros: Great sound, mic is solid. Great feel and not heavy on the head.

Cons: Within 2 months one of the speakers had already started crackling. I do not listen "blast" my music that is what speakers are for. With that, I contacted their RMA Department and they wanted me to pay for shipping both ways. I have read several reviews on this product and I am not the only one with this issue. I have had issues with logitech headsets, and logitech not only paid for shipping both ways but expedited it for return shipping. Unfortunately such a great quality sound headset, backed by a non customer service driven company.

Other Thoughts: Great sound...for a while.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: - The headset itself is clearly not cheaply made; it's strong and could fall from your desk to your hard floor and not have a scratch on it. The same cannot be said for my dinky old Logitech ClearChannel Comforts.
- The ear padding is quite thick and does a fine job of blocking outside noise such as the television.
- Sound that doesn't rely on bass is quite crisp.

Cons: - Headset becomes extremely uncomfortable after wearing for an extended period of time. "Presses" on your ears. Imagine if you were to hold the palms of your hands to your ears and push for hours - that's what it feels like after a half hour or so. I end up putting on my old Logitech Clearcomforts and I'm fine.
- The bass is laughable. No, seriously, it's like your grandmother's 1993 Chrysler New Yorker's stereo system. Explosions are feint, rock music is muffled, and there's no 'pop' to it at all. This, for me, was the biggest disappointment.
- The mic is dinky; it's the cheapest part of the headset and is almost like an afterthought. It's a cheap piece of plastic. Friends who are on the other side of Ventrillo or Skype say I sound like I'm in a waterfall (there is NO fan on, before you ask). I put on my old Logitech Clearcomfort headset and they hear me fine.

Other Thoughts: I want to begin by saying I purchased this in October 2011; it is now February 2012 and I think 4 months of use is enough to justify giving a quality review. I have worn it for countless hours and tried it on playthroughs of various games including: Battlefield 3 (the original reason I purchased it), Star Wars:The Old Republic, League of Legends, The Elder Scrolls:Skyrim, and a handful of others. I am a 'normal' gamer and not an audiophile (sp?) as they are called. I spend several weeks researching the heck out of this "mid range" headsets. Looked at the Logitechs, the Creatives, and several more. In the end, I decided to go with this Corsair because of the fairly warm reviews, the accolades and, mostly, because of price. Overall for the amount of money you pay, it's like buying a Cadillac with a Geo Metro engine. They look great and for as heavy as they are you'd expect them to blow your eardrums out, but sadly they fall short. I hope this helps.
