4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Great sound quality, good mic for the price, and looks good. It also feels sturdy.

Cons: The noise-cancelling padding is comfortable for a while, but eventually starts to get a little irritating (Hence the 4 stars). If you think this is something that will bother you, it probably will-but don't let that hold you back from a great headset for the money. It's worth it.

Other Thoughts: Overall, the headset is fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind a little discomfort now and again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price!!!

Pros: 1. Comfort is good. Not as comfortable as any Sennheiser cans, but it's good.
2. Mic quality is SUPERB and AMAZING. Very clear and crisp. Just make sure the mic is not near your nose or chin. It has to be in the corner of your lips.
3.The sound quality is good for the price. I had to mess with the EQ to get the sound that I wanted. Bass is there and booming! Treble, mids, and highs are okay. Like I said, the EQ helps a lot in this area.
4.Awesome threaded cord.
5.Durable and thick/sturdy material.
6.LONG cord

Cons: 1.Sound quality straight from the box (with integrated audio) is a bit flat. Once again, EQ helped.
2.After a while, the micro-fiber padding got a bit warm on my ears. If you are prone to sweating or if your room is always hot, the pads might bother you after hours of gaming.
3.I had to boost my microphone a bit in settings. No big problem though.

Other Thoughts: In conclusion, it's a good headset. I would've given it 5 eggs, but I just wished that the highs and mids would've been more defined. As well as the treble. Wish it hit my ear more. Great for gaming, okay for music/movies.

4 out of 5 eggsImpressive bass, lacking in other areas

Pros: DEEP BASS. my lord, talk about earthquake on your head. Microphone is adequate, and does what it needs to.

Cons: Lacking in treble. As much as I didn't believe treble was necessary to hear your music the way it was meant to be heard, it is. The microphone has that headset-y sound to it, and sound traveling through it doesn't sound quiet, but muted.

Other Thoughts: ALMOST REQUIRES A SOUND CARD TO REACH IT'S POTENTIAL. Without one, it'll be much quieter. If you don't have plans to purchase a sound card, go for the vengeance 1500.

1 out of 5 eggsCorsair does not honor their warranties, etc.

Pros: The sound is okay.

Cons: I bought a new pair of HS1's, tried to use the CD they came with to install drivers, and/or the software though didn't work with Windows 8. I tried calling Corsair by the # listed on the CD, but couldn't reach anyone in the tech department. Always redirected to a message machine, that was so full of messages I could not leave one. Never did get in touch with anyone from the company via phone. My brother's an accredited I.T. guy, who does house calls and even he couldn't get the CD to do anything. Though he had an idea to use downloadable software online for their 1500 model (comparable, year newer) and that did work... for just under a year, until the the driver in the right ear piece just up and quit a few days ago. By Corsair's own warranty this should be no problem, considering they have a 2 year warranty on them... nope. Online they told me they couldn't replace, nor fix them because I didn't purchase them from an "authorized retailer", though there are no authorized retailers listed on their warranty page, so you can be left wondering whom that is should you go and make the leap. It also says they will not replace anything associated with "normal wear and tear", so what's the 2 warranty for, or cover? Got me? So without saying if you buy online you're s.o.l. Corsair? They don't exactly go into detail. ~L.B.

Other Thoughts: On another related note... my brother got into one of those 1500 models (late last year) and returned them due to a significant lack of bass. I thought it might be that he had not d/l' the software onto his computer like I had, so I tried them on mine and they are not comparable to what's supposed to be an older model, in the HS1's. In summary... Corsair does not honor their warranties, their head sets lack base, and you will be scrambling for their software, because their CD's don't work on new technology. Avoid. ~L.B.

5 out of 5 eggsMust buy w/ Audio Card

Pros: It is comfortable and the mic has worked without issue. I have it plugged into a creative audio card and gives better sound than it's 7.1 USB counterpart! If you do not have an audio card you can definitely get better audio from a USB connected headset as they usually come with their own HD drivers to deliver surround sound. By far my favorite headset.

Cons: A couple cons, the clip that comes with the block that holds the volume and mic mute controls is pretty worthless. It's pressed so hard against the block which makes it difficult to clip it on your clothes. Also I had the 1300 a couple years back which was this headsets predecessor and that same block eventually broke and the cable disconnected seems like a lack of structural integrity in and around that block. I think this is related to me re-positioning myself on my chair and the block catches the keyboard table which is pretty annoying.

Other Thoughts: I've tried a few headsets and this is by far my favorite and I honestly think this is THE only headset to go if you're looking for 3.5 mm jack plus audio card combo.

4 out of 5 eggsBest headset I've owned so far

Pros: The comfort of the headset is phenomenal. Although it does have some weight, the ear pieces themselves do not cause my ears to feel hot or sweaty and cause no issues even with extended use sessions. The headset itself feels very sturdy, and fits my rather large head. The mic boom is never in the way and can be easily tucked away if not in use. Although it is not bendable, I feel as though the solid construction of the mic is better. The sound quality is very nice, and fits well with any type of music or gaming I have going on. I have no troubles being heard through VOIP programs and have been told I sound even better and more clear when communicating.
The braided cord is nice, and despite it's rather long length never gets in the way or twisted in my chair's wheels.

Cons: The small unit on the braided line that controls volume and mutes the mic is sensitive. I find that if it is touching or pressed against anything it will make buzzing noises.

Even when muted, people can still hear things going on on my end. They can not hear my voice, but if I have loud music or games playing through the headset they can hear it clearly despite being muted.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is probably the best headset I have owned.
I have never spent much money on any headset, but compared to the few "gaming" headsets I did purchase, being turtle beaches, the Corsair Vengeance 1400 blows them out of the water. At the price, I could not see myself finding a better gaming headset.

Cons: It isn't that loud for when listening to music

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset for Audio Lovers

Pros: This Headset has great sound reproduction, which means you need either a good audio chipset on your motherboard or what is probably preferred is a decent sound card. The microphone is also really clean and responsive, I have received many compliments since my purchase from all my friends who instantly asked if I had got a new mic. Also seem to be made of good quality components such as the headsets that have some of the more comfortable ear cups of the headsets I've had and have gotten to try. For the price this headset has no equal I could find.

Cons: The head phone and mic cable has two separate 3.5 mm plugs at the end and I wish it would have came with a single 3.5 mm headphone and mic (headset) adapter so I could plug it into my phone. Probably a cheap adapter but would've been a nice touch.

Other Thoughts: I have owned a pair of Turtle Beach PX5, Razer Kraken 7.1, Logitech G35's and got to try out the Razer Kraken Pro's and Logitech G435's. The Turtle Beach's were nice but I wanted something with a little better audio quality and no more intermittent wireless audio distortion.
These were the only pair of headphones I could find with a decent bass response while not sounding muggy. Also when paired with the on-board audio chipset on my motherboard (MSI FM2-A85XA-G65) they have better Virtual 7.1 Surround than the PX5's or any of the USB headsets I found. If you are on a desktop I would strongly recommend against a usb headset if you can get a headset like these and use a hardware sound processor unlike the software sound processor that a usb headset uses. Its a much more crisp, clean and responsive experience.

Plus you could get these and at least test them on your on board audio chipset. If you end up needing a dedicated sound card, for the added cost of a typical 7.1 USB Headset, you could get these and a discrete sound card that will definitely sound better than any software sound processor.
