  • newegg Built-In Dolby Headphone Multi-Channel Audio The remarkable Dolby Headphone technology accurately reproduces multi-channel gaming audio for precise situational awareness and the competitive edge you can only get through positional audio. It also helps reduce "headphone fatigue", which is essential if you play competitively or if you just enjoy playing for hours at a time.

  • newegg Built for Gaming The circumaural, closed-back design blocks distracting sounds and keeps your head in the game, and the extra-large inline volume and microphone control is easy to grab and use when the action heats up — you don't need to take your eyes off the screen.

4 out of 5 eggsHad some issues initially, not bad though.

Pros: - Despite a lot of the negative reviews, I actually later found myself really enjoying the headset. It feels sturdy with some quality build to it.
- With the drivers installed the audio sounds great.
- Comfortable
- It blocked out the sound to the point where I can't hear people yelling or police sirens. Pretty sure i'd die in a fire if i had my music on loud enough with these (which isn't hard to do - they can be stupid loud)
- Mic works really well. No issues during gaming.

Cons: - At first I found the headset way to loud. Even at 2 / 100 on Windows 10 it was almost deafening. (later i found out you need to go into "Playback Devices" - "Corsair Headset" -> Enhancements (turn them all off) -> Uncheck Loudness in Custom )
- Cable is tangled less then a month of owning it and I could never untangle it. If anyone knows how to fix it, i'd appreciate it. The wire does feel cheap.

Other Thoughts: Torn between giving it 3 or 4 eggs. If it was a cheaper headset (sub 60 dollars) 5 stars easily. But due to the amount of money I spent on these (140 dollars) I expected more. Makes me miss my 30 dollar Plantronics headset - but at the same time I'm not feeling overly burned since I'm still using them and overall I'm happy with them.

1 out of 5 eggsOverall a terrible headset

Pros: Long braided USB cable

The Bass is great.

Im told the mic is decent sounding.

Cons: Man... where to start...

The sound is horrible for a hundred plus dollar headset (My eight dollar skullcandy earbuds sound better).

There is a constant white noise while on ( WELL documented with official no solutions ).

The corsair site is a joke, they actually remove old drivers so you are stuck with the most recent ones (Hint: The new ones dont work correctly). The only working drivers for this thing are the 1.1 drivers. But you cant get them anymore...

The volume buttons are poorly designed and you will constantly press mute or VOL up on accident since the buttons take the entire face of the little mid cord button thing and feel like they are on a hair trigger. ( In my 3 years of owning these I have prob spent 10+ hours talking into a muted mic on accident).

The same volume toggle has an LED in it that must have a lumens rating in the 1000s ( it literally makes the entire room glow blue ).

The volume is either destroy your ears loud after 2 notched above mute (new drivers) or so quiet you cant make anything out at max volume (no drivers). The only ones that worked were removed from the corsair site.

The "Virtual Surround Sound" is nothing but a marketing gimmick, all it does is make audio echo which has the opposite effect of real 7.1 since you will never know where any sound is coming from.

I dont know who this was designed for but with my small head I cant wear these for more than an hour or so at a time. It crushes my head with an incredible amount of force and actually hurts to wear. I couldnt imagine trying to use these with a larger head, I feel like it would straight up cut off circulation. I really dont know how to explain how tight these headphones are without sounding hyperbolic.

They never "break in" like most headsets. I even tried to stretch them out a bit by putting them over my case and letting them sit for several weeks. The band holding this together must be made of adamantium or something cause they do not loosen up a millimeter.

It will take you HOURS to get the mic working correctly. Its almost always too quiet, even at 100% input. And dont you dare plug it into anything but the same USB port cause windows will detect it as a new device and make you set it up all over again (yes even in software like SKYPE or discord).

Other Thoughts: The closed ear design combined with how hard it squeezes your head make them very disorientating to wear, I actually find it hard to speak with them on but go right back to normal the moment that pressure on my temples is removed.

Seems fairly durable but I cant be sure as I dont throw my hardware around.

Avoid any computer periphery with the word "GAMING" on the package. Unless you are dealing with mice or keyboards all you are doing is ensuring you are getting low quality products with a premium price tag because "gaming".

4 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasts

Pros: Very comfortable headset with lots of padding. Even during a long gaming session, I never felt any major discomfort with these.

Sound quality is great. Also never heard any complaints from my friends on Ventrilo/Teamspeak about the mic.

Good price for the above.

Cons: ...if you do a little research on these, you'll find out that a lot of owners have had a problem where the wires leading to the in-line volume controller become frayed and cause sound in the right speaker to stop working.

It's a common problem with this model because the quality of the wire they use is pretty bad and will eventually become frayed/break in that spot, even if you're very careful with the headset.

Other Thoughts: I still give this headset 4 eggs because it's an awesome headset aside from that problem with the wiring, but yeah. Just know that you will probably want to keep a cheap "backup" headset available for when this one breaks unless you're good at electronics repair (I'm not).

I'd be willing to pay a few bucks more for this headset if that meant the above problem with poor quality wire got fixed.

2 out of 5 eggsAudio is WAY too loud!

Pros: Great sound
Good 7.1 virtual surround
Decent build quality
Good mic sound quality

Other Thoughts: Seriously, I'd go as far as this issue being a hearing hazard. Anything above 6% is too loud and can cause hearing damage. If you are considering this headset, DO NOT install the software until this issue is fixed, seriously. I've owned these headsets for over a year and to install the software for the sake of my hearing.

Im giving these headsets a 2/5 stars for that very reason. Its no joke when the issue is as bad as causing damage to your hearing.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very comfortable headset for short to medium long game sessions and a clear crisp mic making for easy communication between friends on voice comms

Cons: Not quite as breathable as other sets I have tried so after several hours straight they become a little uncomfortable but is no big deal with short breaks.

The right cuff of my headset broke after 6 months of use which is unfortunate but corsair support system is amazing and within 5 days of the breakage I received my replacement set.

Other Thoughts: I went with 4 eggs instead of 5 for the simple fact that my set broke otherwise it would have been a 5/5 and the customer service I received was amazing.,.. I would recommend this set or any corsair product for that matter!

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid, will likely break.

Pros: When they work the sound quality is very nice. The mic quality is also above average.

Cons: I have owned two of these headsets for a little longer than 1 year each and they both suffered the exact same failure. For the record I take excellent care of my peripherals and rest headsets on stands when they're not in use.

The wires leading from the headset into the in-line volume controller become frayed and cut the right side sound out completely.

The wires used are about 30 gauge, which is EXTREMELY small, meaning that your natural use of moving the cord around is going to destroy them over time. For me it wasn't the connection to the PCB of the in-line controller that had failed (meaning I could have repaired it with some careful soldering) it was the section of the wires directly before the rubber gasket which suffer the most rub from the movement of the cord.

Repairing this section means breaking the solder to the PCB, cutting the gasket, cutting the nylon wire loom, and removing enough wire to correct the failure and reassemble.

If you have the skill set then your only loss is time and frustration. If not then you get to pay $25-30 RMA shipping for the privilege of receiving a used unit in return 6+ weeks later.

My advice is to take this into consideration before purchasing this headset as you will see I'm not the only one with this exact problem.

My request of Corsair is to spend a few extra pennies per unit and use a higher gauge wire, provide a prepaid shipping label, or a least brand new unit for cost of RMA shipping.

Other Thoughts: Quality is everything!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset slightly annoying drivers

Pros: I was able to hear everything with the headset.

Fairly comfortable and ...

was able to stand wear and tear abuse of everyday life (i.e. me dropping the thing constantly).

Cons: A little bulky as previous people have noted.

The drivers are need to run the headset at decent levels.

Windows (the OS; not the company) hates this headset.

Other Thoughts: Besides the initial drivers the whole head set has stood up for a long time.

I works without second thought.

And I wish it didn't fall on the floor constantly.

1 out of 5 eggs3 Years Later

Pros: The headset works, looks great.

Cons: Poor fit for me here, and caused a severe recurring ear bacteria due to the cloth enclosure and poor fit. I have suffered hearing loss and a recurring bacteria, beware the headsets from taiwan. I have yet to find a ENT whom understand that electricity causes bacteria to grow a exponential rates in the ear, and if the bacteria is in the ear expect problems with the nearby nerves. Need some QC on swab tests or something, hearing impaired for life for 80$. ENT's cant find the proof though so this one is up in the air.

The software update slaughtered my headset, it truly sounds bad now. I tried finding the original firmware but its nowhere to be found, and will not override the changes made post upgrade.

Other Thoughts: I still enjoy all other corsair products, just this involves health concerns and complicates medical care diagnosis.

3 out of 5 eggsVery Good, but took forever to ship and to be delivered.

Pros: They are very comfortable to wear on my head.

Sound crisp and clear.

Mic is good.

Can control volume from the cord.

Braided cord!

Long cord.

Got them on sale

Cons: The ONLY reason i am giving this product three eggs is that newegg took over a week to ship the darn thing, and then it took another TWO WEEKS to arrive. That is slower then book rate. Come on newegg you can do better, ive always loved your service.

Other Thoughts: Ear cups get kinda hot after a while but that really isnt a problem. If they were on the ball and didnt mess around i would have given this product 5 eggs.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent G430 Counterpart

Pros: This headset is very good for gaming, especially the surround sound. You can hear somebody approaching you from the rear or sides without needing to scan with your eyes.

The headset is also very comfy, sometimes I forget it's on my head while watching a movie or gaming.

Cons: There are a few issues that I have noticed with this headset:

1. Volume control is not optimized. At 100% you can put them on the desk and use them like desktop speakers.
2. The bass is ok, my previous headset (G430) had much better bass quality than this one. Even with the bigger drivers on the 1500v2. (For gaming it isn't bad, only when listening to bass heavy music is when it is noticeable.)

Other Thoughts: I first got the Logitech G430 headset to replace my aging G330 from Logitech. The G430 was superb with sound quality, however it would give me massive headaches because of the amount of pressure it puts on your head. After a few days I couldn't take it and bought this vengeance headset which is far better in comfort.

Overall, this is a great headset. Gaming is very immersive. Music, while not the greatest, is good enough for me. Defiantly worth the money.

BTW...There is a new Vengeance series out, the H1500 and the H2100. Those headsets have a more modern sound system and I believe fixes some of the cons I shared above.
