5 out of 5 eggsI'm Happy

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: I bought these to make my new Corsair Strafe board with MX Red switches slightly quieter. I would say that typing is about 50% quieter. You still have the sound of the key being sprung up from being pressed, but the action downward is almost completely gone. I like how it makes the key press shorter as well, makes it more comfortable to type with.

The people in my office make fun of how loud my board is, but it's comfortable to me. c:

Cons: - Tedious to install, but didn't take more than 15 minutes. The plastic key puller that came with my board worked perfect, no need to buy a fancy one.

5 out of 5 eggsFullfilled its purpose

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: Now I can type with a peace of mind and not worry about making too much noise

Cons: RGB lights are a tad dimmer, but it's acceptable and keep in mind there's probably no other transparent competing product to replace these

Other Thoughts: When installing, place O-rings unto the keycaps themselves and 'roll' it up. It's quicker than applying it to the keyboard and then placing the caps on

4 out of 5 eggsIt Works

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: It stops the keys from bottoming out, I like that sound though. The feel is pretty much the same if I'm honest you're mileage may vary. The light still passes through just fine it blocks a little but not enough to notice it, I'm pretty sure most people will put their settings to high and forget.

Cons: I don't recommend double ringing with these since some of the keys get mushy, and the ones that aren't mushy just pop out from time to time. This should be expected since they weren't intended to be rigged this way. MSRP price is also a little high.

Other Thoughts: They work great, I got them at a discount price. Either way if you get them they'd be good enough so see the substantial difference. I don't know if it justifies the cost but I'm happy I installed them. I'm working with cherry blue keys on a FUNC KB-460. I didn't want to buy a key remover so I took off the cover and replaced all keys by hand. It makes the process easier by giving you more room to grip, but it might not be for the faint of heart if you know what I mean. I'm knocking an egg off for the MSRP price, but when purchased at about half that, I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to enhance their cherry experience.

4 out of 5 eggsAre you feeling lucky?

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: -exactly enough for my K95
-very transparent, they do not stop the LEDs at all!
-improve sound of key strokes quite a lot
-reduce travel time

Cons: -one oute of 135 was broken

Other Thoughts: I got these today and i wanted to use them for a few hours before writing this review.

Here is the deal. if you directly compare two keys, one with and one without, you will see no difference, and that threw me off at first. then, after about 30 mins (no key remover) of installing the bands to all the keys, I finally noticed the difference.

Travel time is noticeably reduced. I dont know how to feel about this yet since it is early and i am still adjusting, but i dont dislike it thats for sure.

illumination of the LEDs is not reduced at all, if not made better. I was not expecting for that! i was expecting LED illumination to be reduced dramatically. comparing them next to each other under shade, i noticed that there was no reduction, and to my surprise, it was A TINY BIT brighter with the rings installed rather than without. i am still in awe about that!

and for the most important part, the sound. there is a dampening taking place. they are not made SILENT as advertised per se, but there is a noticeable reduction in noise pollution. I strike the keys very strongly, so i appreciate not polluting the house at night with key stroke noise when everyone is sleeping.

Would i recommend? sure. i am indeed feeling sorry for those who spent 25$ on these, but i think this was an 8$ well spent on my end! cheers

5 out of 5 eggsMy Expensive "Silent" Keyboard Should Have Come With These Installed

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: Quiet and more comfortable than my standard plastic keycaps on Cherry MX Browns.

Actually makes my keyboard quiet, for a mechanical.

Cons: Annoyingly tedious to install, but that's really nothing to do with the product.

Other Thoughts: I'm a programmer and a gamer, and these have made me much happier with my $140 Das Keyboard. Got a decent power strip thrown on for free (thanks Rosewill/Newegg!).

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for reducing key bottoming out sound

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: ---You can still feel the tactile bump of the brown switches.
---No noticeable reduction in travel distance of the keys
---Reduces the sound from bottoming out.

Cons: If you have an RGB/backlit keyboard, using o-ring dampeners will significantly reduce the amount light shining through the key itself. They are transparent, rather than opaque, which helps to mitigate the adverse effect, but it is still a noticeable decrease in visibility.

Other Thoughts: Remember that some of your larger keys will require three: space bar, enter, shift, etc. I have a 70 key keyboard and there were plenty left to cover all the keys. Double check your required amount if you're using a 95 keyboard.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: Worked well to dampen noise noticeably (still semi-noisy, but a marked improvement). Small change in keypress feedback, but relatively minor.

Cons: Price is frankly absurd for what you're getting. A hundredish small rubber rings for $10 is a bit ridiculous. They work, though.

Other Thoughts: Using an empty pen (idea from another comment) worked like a charm to get the rings onto the keys.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Wife Loves Me Again

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: Easy to install, just tedious. Took me about 20 minutes with some extra help. Really improves sound of typing. Gets rid of the noise of bottoming out, so you only pretty much hear the "click" of the switch being pressed. Transparent so no issues with the back lighting on my keyboard. Biggest pro is my wife is able to sleep at night.

Cons: No cons to report whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: Thermaltake Poseidon Cherry MX Blue

5 out of 5 eggsSilencer for Mech Keyboards

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: Just picked some of these up for my Corsair K70 Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Red switches. Definitely makes things quieter, doesn't help the keys that have 2 support pins like the spacebar, enter, and shift, but it does quiet them. You don't get that clack as the key bottoms out anymore.

Cons: Takes a while (20-30min) to put them on every key, but there's plenty of them for a full 104key keyboard. Doesn't make it completely quiet but it helps.

Other Thoughts: The keys that don't have the cross support inside like the rest of the keys take 3 o-rings each. I used the flat end of a cheap plastic orange peeler to fully seat the rings. They give a little bit of a cushion when your typing. I love my keyboard but it was just a bit too loud for me as a have a nasty habit of bottoming out the keys. Anything to cut down on the noise is a big plus in my book, and these are doing the trick quite well.

4 out of 5 eggsperfect

This review is from: Rosewill RO-100T Silicon O-Ring Dampeners, for Cherry MX Key Switch, Transparent (135pcs) - Retail

Pros: used on a corsair k70 with cherry mx brown key switches. reduced travel distance and noise enough to make it worth the mod and did not affect the feedback of these brown switches. transparent so they don't obstruct the led backlighting on my keyboard. bag came with way more than you need for a full sized keyboard. installing these gave me an excuse to take all the key caps off and clean the keyboard. :)

Cons: price is outrageous for what they are. but they probably will last forever.
