Other Thoughts: I will look for all of my technology products through newegg.com first. They have best service imaginable! My product was sent quickly, I even made a mistake in with the order and they completely rectified it within minutes! Thank you.

Cons: If you want to boot from CD/DVD you may have some problems.
The computer post's identifies the drive, and then the drive starts reading the cd. "Boot from CD" is displayed on the screen, but it just sits there for a long time, then fails. The trick is to boot the computer. Let it run for 10 seconds or so. (Let it get past detecting the drive and wait a few seconds after that). Then just hit the reset button on your computer. On the second boot, now that the drive has 'spun up' It will now work as it should.

Other Thoughts: I have a mostly uneducated theory that perhaps the computer is posting and booting faster than the drive can be ready from a cold boot. The reset technique seems to support this theory. It may just be the Drive + mobo combo I am using. I don't see any other comments mentioning anything like this. Other than this one little thing, this drive works perfectly.

Pros: i just use it to download vista and play DVD's and it works great

Cons: it wont burn a disk or dvd just rember that

Other Thoughts: go for a basic build

Pros: Can't go wrong for the price. Have used other Lite-On products in the past with no problems to speak of. Will continue to purchase this brand, again!

Cons: None to speak of-yet! Rather "loud" compared to other optical drives that I have used in the past. Not a real big problem.

Cons: I have been installing these for years, occasionally the tray will not open on some systems (about 10% after 2-3 years)

Other Thoughts: Good product for the price. I don't see the point in spending more for a different brand. Buy this if it breaks in a year or two, dvd drives will be dirt cheap so you won't have a problem replacing it.

Pros: Reads dvd's very fast. Black and it's a Lite-On.

Cons: Lite-On trays have always been weak. This one is particularly sensitive on the right side. One could pull on it on the right side and probably with little effort, break the tray. So yes in theory most people simply push the tray closed. I'd say use the button on this drive period.

Other Thoughts: It's a cheap drive, it does what it does.

Pros: Works, Works, and Works more?

Cons: none, NADA!, ZIP!!

Other Thoughts: no problems. So if ya need a Sata DVD player, get it!

Pros: Does the job without any problems so far. Have a DVD burner but needed a ROM drive because I hate having a copy record on my harddrive. Do not get this if you are looking for a burner, it is a read only drive.

Other Thoughts: As always, love Newegg's reasonable prices and the return policy keeps me a satisfied and often returning customer. You won't waste your time or money with Newegg!!!!
